Ever wonder what happens when gravity goes "nah" and castles are portable? Join us as we dive into the chaos that is the Plane of Limbo in D&D, where physics are optional and everything is... complicated. We're talking Githyanki, Proteans, glitchy characters, and the ultimate question: what does your afterlife look like in a realm with zero rules? (Spoiler: It's wild.) Catch the madness, laugh at the absurdity, and maybe pick up a few tips on surviving the most chaotic plane! SUMMARY In this wild episode, the hosts boldly dive headfirst into the swirling madness of the Plane of Limbo in Dungeons & Dragons—where the laws of physics are more like "suggestions." Brace yourself as they chat about the Githyanki and Githzerai, the soul cycle, and what happens when your neighborhood has zero zoning laws and gravity takes a vacation. From Githyanki portable fortresses (think "floating castles on the go") led by the legendary Menyar Og, to ancient Proteans chilling in the Maelstrom, it's a buffet of chaos with a side of philosophy. Oh, and if you thought life in Limbo was confusing, wait until they get into Planescape glitch characters—because why not throw a few bugs into the cosmic soup? Whether you want deep lore or just need a laugh at the absurdity of it all, this episode has you covered. DMs, ever feel like you're trying to herd cats...with fireball? In our latest episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, we dive into the epic chaos of running tabletop RPGs with too many players. From keeping Jim awake (when he actually shows up) to making sure your combat doesn't last longer than your pizza delivery, we've got you covered!Join us as we unravel the mysteries of: The "perfect" player count (is there such a thing?) Streamlining combat for larger-than-life parties The delicate art of loot distribution (sorry, wizards) Managing player absences without breaking the immersion Grab your dice, and let's roll on this adventure of DM survival! Summary In this episode, the hosts tackle every Dungeon Master's worst nightmare: wrangling a horde of players around the table! How many adventurers is too many? Can a party of eight heroes defeat the boss—before the pizza arrives cold? Join the crew as they debate the mythical "perfect" number of players and uncover just how chaotic the action economy can get when your cleric's turn takes 15 minutes. From keeping everyone engaged (because even wizards get bored) to solving the classic riddle of "Where's Jim?" (spoiler: he's absent again), they share battle-tested strategies to keep the game rolling without summoning TPK-level frustration. Combat, loot, exploration—nothing escapes their deep dive into the arcane arts of managing large groups in both D&D 5E and Pathfinder 2. Expect laughter, loot discussions, and a not-so-subtle reminder that session zero isn't just for deciding your backstory—it's for figuring out how to keep eight players from talking over each other! Links Content from RPGBOT.net Practical Guide to Faster Combat Support the Show! Cantrip Candles https://rpgbot.net/candles dScryb https://dscryb.com/rpgbot Takeaways Player Count Sweet Spot: Aim for 4-5 players to keep things smooth and engaging. Any more, and you might find yourself wrangling chaos instead of adventurers. Combat Slows the Pace: With larger groups, combat can become a slog—streamline it by encouraging players to know their abilities and use cheat sheets for faster decisions. Session Zero Magic: Use session zero to set expectations, lay out group dynamics, and emphasize the importance of communication. Active Initiative = Engagement: Keep players involved during combat with active initiative, so they stay focused instead of wandering off into side conversations. Time Management Matters: Use strategies like sharing characters or quick decision tools to manage absent players and keep the game rolling smoothly. Creativity in Exploration: Larger groups can make exploration and social interactions feel trivial, so spice it up with creative solutions that engage the entire party. Not All Combat Is to the Death: Consider letting enemies flee or surrender to keep encounters dynamic and prevent fights from dragging on unnecessarily. Meaningful Loot: Reward your players with loot that keeps them motivated, but make sure it's something that benefits the whole group. Class Versatility: Pathfinder 2E offers more versatility for classes like monks and fighters compared to D&D 5E, giving players more flexibility and fun. Action Economy Challenge: With larger groups, adjust your encounters to avoid overwhelming players and keep the action economy manageable. Well, wonder no more because on this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, we uncover the mysterious Plane of Bytopia and its unique take on the concept of the afterlife. Join us as we explore the Good Place-like existence of this D&D plane and uncover the secrets and wonders it holds for adventurers and players alike. Get ready to embark on a journey like no other as we examine Bytopia's afterlife in D&D.   SUMMARY   The Team covers the Upper Plane of Bytopia in D&D, exploring the geography, weather, and alignment of Bytopia, as well as the unique physics of the plane. The conversation also goes into the lifestyle and trade between the two layers of Bytopia, with humorous tangents along the way. We explore the concept of Bytopia, a plane in the D&D multiverse, and its unique characteristics: the environment, inhabitants, and the experience of visiting Bytopia. We touch on the nature of the afterlife, the concept of pervasive goodwill, and the potential challenges of entering and leaving Bytopia. The conversation also covers the themes of Bytopia, Tradegate, and non-player's handbook races. We breakdown the unique features of Bytopia, the trade gate, and the currency system. Our question of the week covers the concept of an 'oops all' party with non-player's handbook races, sharing our ideas and preferences for such parties. The concept of pervasive goodwill in Bytopia presents an intriguing challenge for visitors, potentially trapping them in a state of contentment and happiness. The presence of adamantine dragons, intelligent plants, and the ethical considerations of animal husbandry in Bytopia raise thought-provoking questions about the nature of the plane and its inhabitants. Welcome back to the Gaming With Gage, your podcast for roleplaying games and the periphery.Thank you for being here! This week I had the chance to talk with Christoff Visscher of Cantrip Candles. If the name sounds familiar it’s because we burn Cantrip Candles when we record our Who’s Agatha actual play. Cantrip Candles are crafted for Tabletop Roleplaying Games with scents like Stonemoss Chapel, Black Hound Tavern and The Library Scriptorium. We love these candles and I was so pleased that Christoff was able to come on the show.We did have a small audio issue that resulted in the first couple minutes of the show being cut. If it seems like Christoff and I are fast friends in the middle of conversation it’s because of this audio issue and because Christoff is a really cool person.Keep in touch with us on Our Website, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Discord! Please subscribe, rate and review the show on iTunes and AndroidSubscribe on Apple PodcastSubscribe on AndroidNow let’s jump into Episode 6 with Christoff Visscher

Here is what Cantrip Candles has to say about their story: Cantrip Candles was inspired by my desire to enhance my group's tabletop experience. Years of hosting had made game nights very dear to me and I was determined to bring the ambiance to the next level. A spilled beer during a particularly rowdy session brought me to a realization: scent was a key element missing from the tabletop world. To my dismay, none of the products I found seemed to fit my needs. I discovered most candles were overpriced and didn't smell at all like their sellers described. I finally decided to try my hand at soy candles and what started as a hobby eventually turned into a business. Now, my friends and I enjoy our nights with a candle burning in the background- adding to the magic of our games with each flicker. We were so lucky to have Michael Riggs (Aka: Mike the Storycrafter) on the show with us! You can find him on Twitter at @SteamRollersPC and now, also at @CopperheartPod! We talked about what worlds we would like to see made into TTRPGs which lead to much talk about Human Water. We also discussed fictional gadgets we would like to get our mitts on, and what type of undead creature we would like to be! It was a fun episode all around, and we hope you laugh with us as much as we laughed. Special community shout out today goes to Cantrip Candles, which you can find on Twitter at @CantripCandles or at their website https://www.cantripcandles.com!

SUMMARY The crew has to deal with the aftermath of Rem harpooning a giant seahorse and bringing it on board. Little did he, or the rest of the party know, these creatures are rarely seen by ships in the area. Though it was food for the ship, it comes with a bittersweet taste and a warning from The Whispering Winds’ boatswain. Rem feels little remorse while the rest of the party feels awful for what they have done. While he rides the high of his catch, Kenina tries to reach out and make amends with Tempest, while Ariel helps out the ship’s cooks prepare vegetables for the night meal. During the meal, Rem works on serving the crew as much as they are willing to eat and excited talks about the thrill of the catch. Meanwhile Ariel and Kenina try to get through the meal without too much feeling, though Tempest had chosen not to eat. Before night sets over the ship, Rem runs into Gimble, a gnome from the guild who was on their previous adventure but had so far been hidden on the ship. He agrees not to give away Gimbles presence and eventually returns to his shared bunk room, where Ariel confronts him over his attitude. The party began their sojourn to the Great Furnace, a large mountain that may possess a Shrine of Virtue. During their journey, they came across a gang of fairly incompetent thieves, and though they were able to solve the issue without bloodshed, the incident kept the group on their toes. The journey continued until they were ambushed yet again, not by thieves, but by strage dog-like creatures. After defeating most of the beasts, they spent the night tracking a surviving beast to a cave that was home to a coven of hags. The group's wisdom was put to the test, but they successfully defeated the coven and discovered that these hags had survived for a long, long time and hoarded several relics of a previous era, including a Stone of Virtue, bringing the groups Stone count to 5 out of 6. After a well deserved rest, the party set off back on the path to the Dwarven villaige of Padun, where a contact waits for them to aid the party's trip to the Great Furnace.
