Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling is best known for his 16 years as head writer and on-air personality for the Howard Stern Show. He is a veteran of the Long Island, NY comedy scene and has been a successful standup comedian and joke writer for more than 4 decades. The list of comedy legends he has worked with includes Rodney Dangerfield, Eddie Murphy, Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Nelson, Richie Miniveri, Rob Bartlett, Dave Hawthorne, Jim Myers, Paul Reiser, and Jackie Mason, and many more. Martling started a telephone joke line (516) 922 Wine, that has been in operation since the early '80s and has recorded 4 comedy albums, and been featured in the films Private Parts and The Aristocrats. Peter Bales has appeared as a stand-up comedian at countless comedy clubs, corporate functions, and colleges across the country and has appeared on a variety of television networks including FOX, A&E, Comedy Central, Lifetime, MTV, VH-1, and, most recently, "The New Rascals Comedy Hour" podcast for XM Satellite Radio. Peter has also hosted his own radio programs on NYC's WABC (770 AM) and WEVD (1050 AM). During this time, Caltabiano met fellow stand-up comedian Ray Romano, and frequently toured with him as Romano's opening act. Caltabiano eventually relocated to Los Angeles, and was a writer on Everybody Loves Raymond for the duration of the series (1996-2005). As a co-executive producer of Everybody Loves Raymond, he won two Emmys when the show was awarded Outstanding Comedy Series in 2003 and 2005. Caltabiano wrote for Romano when he hosted Saturday Night Live (1999, 2003)....Caltabiano is also a photographer. His photos have appeared in publications such as TV Guide, Variety, The Los Angeles Times, and The Hollywood Reporter. He appeared as a photographer in the Everybody Loves Raymond episode Robert's Wedding, Part II. The photos he took during the filming were used in a montage at the end of that episode. He took over 30,000 behind-the-scenes photos during his nine years on Everybody Loves Raymond, and a book of these photos-Everybody Loves Raymond: Our Family Album-was published by Simon & Schuster in 2004. Today we speak about her humble beginnings in the small mining town if Superior, Arizona, her start in stand up, her transport to Chicago to study at Second City, her Move to NYC, where she became a paid regular at Catch A Rising Star, then worked and all over the country, she and I meeting in Bequia, studying with the legendary acting teacher Sandford Meisner, who ultimately influenced our paths (then we went on to study with him in Los Angeles) She ultimately add it to LA where she landed a role on Seinfeld, (She was Jerry’s girlfriend Sandy, the Manage a trios episode) was also on the animated series Dr. Katz professional therapist and was on every major talk show from the tonight show w Johnny Carson, THE LATE SHOW with David letterman, the Arsenio Hall Show, Mad About You and so many others. Patricia Mae Giraldo sounds like a pretty cool name for a performer. You know her as Pat Benatar. Let’s take a deep dive in to the career of one of the best female rockers of our time: Speaking of the name Benatar, it’s actually not a stage name. Pat was married briefly to a GI named Dennis Benatar, and decided to keep the name So where did her current married name Giraldo come from? She married her guitarist and musical director Neil Giraldo in 1982 Benatar is one of the few female rockers ever to be accepted to the prestigious Juilliard School of Music. But she rebelled, and never attended Like most of her rock counterparts, she started humble, singing nights and weekends in bands while holding down jobs as a bank teller, and waitressing gigs Out of the 12 studio albums she has produced, 6 of them went Platinum, including her debut album In The Heat of the Night Though the height of her success happened in the 80s, Benatar got her start in the 70s singing regularly in the New York City area, where she was discovered at the Catch A Rising Star club (singing a Judy Garland song at 3am) and signed by Chrysalis Records If you’ve gone to any of Benatar’s shows, you know she’s a huge Zeppelin fan. My favorite episode EVER has how often do you get to sing a Pat Benatar song with the man who played it on the album her long time bass player Roger Capps?!!!!!! Roger's history in the music industry is BEYOND impressive and his work with Pat Benatar is amazing from their time working at Catch A Rising Star when they were unknowns to a few years later playing in front of 200,000 people at The US Festival.
