Sadly, Colin's long-lost uncle, Thadious Landforce, passed away. Little did Colin know, Thad (as his friends called him) was the founder and sole owner of a natural foods-based grocery store chain. Luckily, young Colin Landforce as his sole heir, inherits the grocery store and recruits his 2 best friends, Oren and James, to help him expand internationally and build a sizeable fortune. To be honest…none of this happened, BUT we did play out this scenario and see how the team would grow this type of business Plans include Creating food deserts Going Public on a German stock exchange Hiring Liver King to help be the face of the brand And more Follow us on Twitter: Oren: twitter.com/orenmeetsworld Colin: twitter.com/landforce James: twitter.com/jamesoncamp Bookmark our sites! In this episode, we have Colin Landforce, CTO for a publicly-traded cannabis company, UnrivaledBrands. Colin has built a career hustling to build one of the biggest names in the cannabis industry and still finds time to work on miscellaneous projects from selling physical goods to even building software. He loves the play of building an agency and then building SaaS and all the systems behind it. We discussed how Colin started becoming an entrepreneur and its challenges especially he built a Cannabis Brand where there are a lot of regulations needed to follow to operate. How to market high ticket sales like firearms amidst the digital marketing environment. Quotes from this episode: “The way you make it work with any partner, even if they are a friend; you communicate clearly and you set expectations with each other, you speak candidly with one another. Put people in roles based on their merit not based on it being the homie.” (7:15) “Cannabis hasn't even come close, like entering pop culture and culture in general in the future, I see tons of loads happening.” (20:47) “I think focus is a little bit of a scam. I jumped into this business, I had my moment of I'm finally going to focus on something. But I did not get outsize results out of it.” (32:26) - Colin Landforce Don't miss: First Dollar Income Stream (1:22) Why Agency is a Trap? Colin is fascinating to me, because he does something that in the UK I couldn't even imagine happening for a long time: he sells weed legally. And not only does he sell weed, he sells a LOT of weed. As CTO of Unrivaled Brands—a publicly traded cannabis brand—Colin continues to push into new and bigger markets and build something pretty amazing. I got to sit down with him for nearly an hour and quiz him about how it all works. What about regulation? How do you manage different packaging and product needs in different states? How do you make any money with all these regulations? And just how do you manage to sell yourself honestly and authentically when there's a stigma attached? I had a truly excellent conversation here and I hope you enjoy it. About ColinColin is CTO at Unrivalled Brands. Cannabis is much more than just flower. In this episode, Colin Landforce joins me to talk about the industry, products, and how he's grown his business to be on track to do $69M in sales this year.Specifically, we talk about. Different styles of cannabis, including deli-style and pre-roll Differences in legality across states Issues and challenges with packaging requirements The process of making a consistently good pre-roll using a hop milling machine What the processing process looks like to get different products for different products Making sure dosage is safe for consumers Creating different brands and products for different budgets Differences between indoor and outdoor grown cannabis, including regional growing opportunities. Colin Landforce, Chief Operations Officer at Unrivaled, a leading cannabis multi-state operator, and the parent company of multiple dominant cannabis lifestyle brands spanning consumer products and retail.
Colin Landforce is a relentless builder, a serial entrepreneur, and the COO of Unrivaled - a leading cannabis multi-state operator, and the parent company of multiple dominant cannabis lifestyle brands. He has spent the last 10 years working in regulated consumer product markets - and the last 5 years in recreational cannabis. Colin and I discussed The regulatory hurdles when starting a cannabis business How he got into the cannabis industry Indoor vs outdoor growing Growing multiple CPG companies Engaging and growing on Twitter Banking and payment issues due to federal restrictions How he manages a weed business in two different states What the most popular weed products are And much more... Colin Landforce My Take: When Colin and I recorded this episode, Ned Lamont had just legalized recreational cannabis in Connecticut - making it the 19th state to do so. It is due time to make cannabis federally legal for many reasons, but here are just a few (in my opinion): 1. There are many medicinal advantages that we are not able to explore due to it being federally illegal 2. People are getting incarcerated in certain states, for something that is perfectly legal in another (this doesn't make sense to me). 3. It makes it extremely difficult for young entrepreneurs to develop this space, which could boost economic growth 4. 0 people have died from cannabis. Ze-ro. Unlike tobacco and alcohol. There are many more reasons, and I could go on. I hope that we can get it legal soon so that responsible adults can enjoy it and entrepreneurs can develop startups without the regulatory hurdles and social stigma associated with cannabis.
