In April 2020, during lockdown, Dai Henwood received a terminal cancer diagnosis. He kept it hidden. He kept doing stand-up. He kept doing interviews. He kept being Dai Henwood, while privately getting to grips with something nobody in his family had ever faced before.Four and a half years after his first appearance on the show, he sits back down with Steve and Seamus.Dai walks us through 52 rounds of chemo, 8 surgeries, a death ceremony in Japan, a three-part documentary, a book, and the moment he stopped acting like himself and started actually being himself. But this isn't a cancer story. It's a story about what happens when the fear of death is gone, and nothing remains but the joy of living. They talk about what a successful week actually looks like now. Why men need to hug each other more. The hardest thing he's ever done that isn't chemo. Why happiness is a calm emotion and most of us have never actually felt it.Steve and Seamus are proud to be dressed by the legends at Barkers. Hosted on Acast. Comedian Dai Henwood's ticked plenty of boxes over his three decades in the business, but next May, he'll take on a new challenge and host the Best Foods Comedy Gala. The event will take place from May 1 to May 2, and it represents a career-first for the Kiwi comedy legend. Henwood says New Zealand's gone through some significant changes on the world stage, having moved from 'culturally cringe' to something meaningful. "I'm someone who loves change and I've always loved change. So seeing how things evolve is awesome. Yet, it's so cool you have something like the gala - which in its essence has stayed the same, it is an intro to the Comedy Festival." Tickets for the event are on sale now - and if you order before December 18th, you go in the draw to win some prizes, including a signed copy of Dai's book. Step back to July 7, 1985, Carlaw Park... a mud-soaked cauldron where New Zealand’s rugby league pride clashed with the might of the Australians. In the latest episode of Kärcher’s “Blast from the Past,” hosts ACC Head G Lane, Dai Henwood, and Dylan Cleaver relive a series that was anything but a dead rubber. The Aussies may have led the series 2-0, but the third test became a defining moment in the Trans-Tasman rivalry. The buildup was electric: fierce clashes, controversial coaching decisions, and a notorious brawl between Kevin Tamati and Graham Dowling set the tone. The Kiwis, still reeling from a heartbreaking loss in the second test, found themselves rejuvenated by a surprise show of public support orchestrated by coach Graham Lowe. Meanwhile, the Australian camp was in turmoil, divided by state rivalries and coach Terry Fearnley’s contentious team selections. What unfolded was historic. The Kiwis dominated, shutting out the Kangaroos 18-0, the first time Australia had been held scoreless since the 1950s. Heroes emerged, legends were born, and the victory marked a turning point for New Zealand players seeking opportunities across the Tasman.
