Movie Synopsis: When a city is overrun with a demonically possessed crowd, a cop must find the source of evil to save his family. I feel the story pulled me right in a mix of supernatural horror, action, and emotional moments. The visuals were insane, especially the scenes in the alternate world. And I loved the Thai setting-it added a unique, haunting vibe.It was an absolute pleasure to sit down and speak to the very talented and young actress, Akeira, about her role in the movie. She certainly had a lot to say about her character in the film, and I loved how she shared her personal experiences with me about the other actors. I do hope there is a sequel to this film and the casting director brings back Akeira to reprise her role of Loo because if you break a pinky swear, you pretty much break the golden rule. The sky is definitely not the limit with this gifted actress! Being only six years old and with what she has proved and exhibited in this movie, who would not want her in their film? I strongly urge following her on social media and support her as much as you can. I also highly recommend watching the movie which is now streaming on Amazon, YouTube, Apple TV, Google Play, and Fandango at Home.

Every so often, a bold new climate solution emerges - hailed as the answer to humanity's looming environmental crisis. From carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies to nature-based solutions, these innovations offer hope. But one of the most provocative - and polarizing - is geoengineering. Unlike traditional mitigation strategies, geoengineering doesn't aim to address the root causes of climate change. Instead, it proposes fixing the climate at a planetary scale, either by cooling the planet through the injection of particles into the stratosphere or fertilizing oceans. So what happens when humanity decides to directly hack the sky ? Is this a Faustian pact for short-term gains, with long-term climate catastrophe waiting to unfold? In this episode of 2050 Investors, host Kokou Agbo-Bloua dives deep into the world of geoengineering - what it is, what it isn't, and why it's so controversial. From ancient examples of human attempts to manipulate nature to cutting-edge techniques such as Carbon Dioxide Removal and Marine Cloud Brightening (MCB), Kokou explores the fine line between innovation and interference. He also examines the profound ethical, environmental and political questions that geoengineering raises, and whether these might encourage individuals and governments to become complacent. To help unpack these complexities, Kokou is joined by Hans van der Loo, chairman of the Institute for Integrated Economic Research and CEO of the Blue Cooling Initiative, which focuses on MCB. Together, they explore the future of geoengineering in an age of rapid technological advancement - where AI and data science may improve precision but can't eliminate uncertainty. Hans argues that geoengineering may be one of humanity's best remaining options to buy much-needed time - but only if it is done responsibly.About this showWelcome to 2050 Investors, your monthly guide to understanding the intricate connections between finance, globalisation, and ESG.Join host Kokou Agbo-Bloua, Head of Economics, Cross-Asset & Quant Research at Societe Generale, for an exploration of the economic and market megatrends shaping the present and future, and how these trends might influence our progress to meeting 2050's challenging global sustainability targets. In each episode, Kokou deep-dives into the events impacting the economy, financial markets, the planet, and society. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for March 29, 2025 is: elucidate ih-LOO-suh-dayt verb To elucidate something is to make it clear or easy to understand. // The writer elucidates complex medical findings for a general audience. See the entry > Examples: “Building flexible classrooms gives the building a lifespan beyond one class or even one era of pedagogy, which, as [Lee] Fertig elucidates, are sure to evolve.” — Maya Chawla, Architectural Digest, 25 Sep. 2024 Did you know? In 1974, the discovery of a remarkably intact Australopithecus skeleton elucidated a key moment in human evolution. She was famously nicknamed Lucy in reference to the Beatles' “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” but we'd still love Lucy were it simply an homage to the light she shed. You see, the Latin luc- or lux puts the “light” in many English utterances (including the name Lucy). Take, for instance, lucent (“glowing with light”), luculent (“clear in thought or expression”), luciferous (“bringing light or insight”), lucid (“clear, sane, intelligible”), and elucidate (“to make clear or understandable”). Those last two words come from the Latin lucidus, which literally translates to “lucid.” Lucidus, in turn, comes from the verb lucēre, meaning “to shine.” Elucidating, therefore, can be thought of as the figurative equivalent of shining a light on something to make it easier to see.
Terry discusses local officials touting the expansion of Waterfront Park into WEST LOU-UH-VUL, a name we stole from a town in western Kentucky. (If you say WAH-FAH instead of WiFi, then Loo-uh-vul fits right into your Jethro laden elocution skeelz!).In Washington, members of Congress went on the attack against left-leaning NPR. Jim Jordan and Jamie Comer tried to derail NPR CEO Katherine Maher. She's like, "who me? I drive down the center lane on the highway."Opinion is part of the media universe, albeit separate from general news gathering. That's what the AP stylebook would have us all believe. But news consumers like to hear their own biases reflected back toward them. MSNBC viewers are convinced that they're hearing unbiased news reporting and sensible commentary. The exact opposite sentiment is embraced by conservatives consuming Fox News.Today's issue: the Republicans in charge of the House of Representatives don't want to fund liberal NPR and PBS opinions but are fine with conservative views on various media platforms.Conservatives control all three branches of government right now so expect this battle over funding public media to remain active for now.

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for December 16, 2024 is: allusion uh-LOO-zhun noun An allusion is a reference to something that avoids mentioning the thing directly. Allusion may also describe the use of such a statement or the act of alluding to something. // The lyrics contain biblical allusions. // They made allusion to their first marriage, but said nothing more about it. See the entry > Examples: “The Rings of Power is full of echoes and allusions to the original [Lord of the Rings] trilogy.” — James Grebey, Vulture, 4 Oct. 2024 Did you know? An allusion is not a play on words—that would be a pun—but allusion does come from the Latin verb allūdere, which in turn combines the verb lūdere, meaning “play,” with the prefix ad-, which can mean “to,” “toward,” or “near.” One way of thinking about an allusion—an indirect reference, especially (though not exclusively) as used in literature—is that it “plays toward or around” something rather than naming it directly. For example, Picnic, Lightning, the title of a book by poet Billy Collins, is an allusion to a line from Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita. This allusion—like most—works on the assumption that there is a body of knowledge shared by the author and reader and that therefore the reader will understand the reference. Don't be misled by the similar pronunciation and spelling of allusion and illusion, however. You wouldn't be the first, but the latter—which also comes from lūdere—refers to something that is visually or otherwise misleading.

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for September 27, 2024 is: lucid LOO-sid adjective If something written, spoken, or otherwise communicated is described as lucid, it is very clear and easy to understand. A person described as lucid is able to think clearly. Lucid is also used to describe things that are luminous, or that are visually transparent. // The film conveyed a lucid message that was hard to misinterpret. // Brenna marveled at the sea stars and urchins she could see through the lucid water of the rock pool. See the entry > Examples: “Good popular science writing requires a rare combination of skills and attitudes. The author must be a trained scientist herself or at least a well-informed lay person capable of presenting often complex issues in clear, lucid prose.” — Tom Sandborn, The Vancouver (British Columbia) Sun, 10 Aug. 2024 Did you know? Let's shine a light on lucid, an adjective whose senses of “shining” and “filled with light” reflect its roots in the Latin verb lucēre, meaning “to shine.” Lucid is also used to describe things that are visibly clear—that is, translucent (translucent being another lucēre descendent), as in “we enjoyed snorkeling in the lucid waters of the Caribbean.” Lucid is, however, most commonly applied in its figurative meanings where it can describe someone whose mind is clear, or something communicated with a clear meaning, as in “the author captured readers' attention with her lucid prose,” and “the professor provided a lucid explanation of the topic.” Clearly, lucid has proven a useful and versatile word.
