Phoebe Harris is a 22-year-old swimmer who joined the Only Fans platform in January 2022 and since then, she has done VERY well for herself. Before Only Fans she was on a WINZ benefit. Now, she earns more than the Prime Minister! So, what IS Only Fans? How much money does she make? How much of a cut do Only Fans take? What sort of backlash and stigma comes with being a success on that platform? What do her partner and parents think of it and much more! Everything you wanted to know about Only Fans but didn't know who to ask.In this episode we get to learn a bit about Phoebe, who moved to New Zealand from England as a young girl and fell in love with swimming. And how that has led to an insanely financially rewarding career as an Only Fans creator. With her Only Fans income she has created a fitness app, become a landlord with three properties, bought her parents their dream caravan and a new car. She bought her own house at 20 with a $250,000 deposit, she got herself a brand-new Porsche for $340k! She doesn't drive it all the time though - sometimes she drives her Nissan Navara Ute. And at the time of recording this she had just returned from a first-class trip to Europe. My goal with all these discussions is to try and get a better understanding of a person and their choices through non-judgmental long form conversation. Sir Graham Henry (aka “Ted”) is one of the greatest All Black coaches of all time. He left the role with a win record of 85%In 2011, with a little help from his friends, he coached the All Blacks to a Rugby World Cup win, breaking a 24-year drought. This was made even more remarkable on account of a thing called The Henry clause- a rule made by the NZ Rugby union in the late 1990s to make sure Graham would never get to coach the All Blacks after he went overseas to coach Wales. We talk about that clause and so much more- his early years and how he got together with his soulmate, Raewyn. His self-diagnosed depression which saw him quit coaching in the UK, his 103-test coaching career with the All Blacks and much more.Sir Graham Henry is a sharp operator, and this was a lot of fun. For me at least. Hope you guys love it.This episode is brought to you by Generate – award-winning KiwiSaver specialists.Since I've been working with these guys, I get messages every week from friends who have switched their KiwiSaver over to Generate and they all say the same thing- they wish they did it sooner. Most of us sign up for KiwiSaver when we start working and we just go with whatever scheme is being offered by our employers then forget about it. Strap yourself in for a wild ride- my most chaotic podcast EVER!Andrew Fagan is a kiwi musician. In the 1980's he was the singer of one of New Zealand's most popular bands called The Mockers. Chances are, if you know any of their songs it'll be Forever Tuesday Morning. But for a 12-year-old Dom Harvey. He knew every word of every song. Obsessed is a big word…but that was my relationship with this band called the Mockers. I was a psycho-fan…and I would be prepared fight anyone who dared to disagree they were the best band in the world. So, to sit down for a long conversation with one of my childhood heroes was something truly special. This is by far the most unique and bizarre podcast I've ever done- Andrew turned up with his own props including a flag, a stool, a bell, a water spray bottle, guitar and amp.We talk about his life in music, including those years in The Mockers- his recollections of the infamous 1984 Queen Street Riots and the deep impact of losing a bandmate to suicide. We also discuss in great length his love of solo voyages in the open ocean in small boats. Then we go deep with some musings on life, aging, mental health and future goals.Whether you're a long-time fan of The Mockers or new to wonderful world and mind of Andrew Fagan, this episode offers a glimpse into the life of a remarkable New Zealander (who I am lucky to call a mate). Doctor Inia Raumati is an absolute savage- as well as being an emergency doctor in the intense Auckland Hospital, he also an inspirational adventurer who has taken part in ultra-marathon stage runs all over the world that last for a week. When we recorded this, he was halfway through an audacious goal to complete events on every continent of the world during 2024.We talk about these events in depth- the level of planning and preparation is, as you'd expect, next level. These runs are no joke…so don't be fooled by the way he talks about them like they are no big deal! Then the professional stuff- his time as a medic in Iraq for the NZ army, his time as a volunteer for the Westpac rescue helicopter and life as an emergency doctor- including working in hospital during the pandemic, the amount of violence and anger the staff encounter every weekend and what it feels like when a patient you are working on dies and so much more. It was a fascinating insight into a world I knew nothing about from a guy who has seen it all! This chat was organized by Inia's fiancé Vicki who is my vet (well, my dogs vet). I thought it would be one for the running nerds, but it is much more than that. Inia is just a super inspiring and positive guy who is living his best life and wants to help others do the same. Ed Byrne has been on the Graham Norton show numerous times, he's been on the late-night talk shows in America, he's been on the Celebrity Chase…twice. And now he's on my podcast. Very exciting for me…not so exciting for Ed!At the time of recording this (August 2024) Ed is touring NZ with his show called “Tragedy plus time.”A heartbreakingly hilarious show that deals with the death of his younger brother Paul. Reviewers have been calling it the best work of Ed's 30-year career. We talk a lot about Paul, their relationship and processing grief with humor.See him at a venue near you: https://edbyrne.com/live-dates/We discuss his very first tour of NZ way back in the late 1990s where he made nationwide news for trolling a barman- it's a great story. Why New Zealand holds a special place in his heart and why Oamaru got a completely different Ed Byrne show to every other venue. His encounter with Robert Downey Junior when they shared the sofa on the Graham Norton show together and so much more.I loved spending this quality time with Ed Byrne, and I hope you do to. ABBAS NAZARIWhen the Taliban were at the height of their power in 2001, Abbas was 7 years old. By the time he arrived in New Zealand as a refugee almost a year later, he was 8. What happened in between is nothing short of incredible. The fact the Nazari family survived the journey was one thing. But they have done much better than that- they have thrived!Abbas shares his memories of escaping the Taliban as a little boy with little more than the clothes on his back, being adrift in the middle of the Indian ocean in an overcrowded rickety wooden boat that was most definitely not sea-worthy, in fact it was literally falling apart. Then getting rescued by a big shipping boat called the Tampa and becoming part of an international standoff before finding home in NZ as a refuge.Somehow, against all odds, Abbas who spoke no English when he touched down here went on to get a podium finish in a secondary schools spelling bee, played rugby (and even claims he taught Richie Mo'unga how to kick LOL). He also got a degree, was awarded a scholarship in Washington DC and now runs his own business. That's not all! He's also an in demand public speaker, and he has written a great book called “After The Tampa.” Which covers his life story in much greater detail than a long form podcast can do. If you love this chat and you're keen for more, google that. ****This episode is bought to you by Generate – award-winning KiwiSaver specialists.Myself and pretty much everyone I know has the exact same KiwiSaver experience. Dame Lisa Carrington is the Greatest NZ Olympian of all time- 5 gold medals and 1 bronze medal over the past 3 Olympic Games. And maybe she will add to that at the Paris Olympic Games. This podcast is a re-release. It first came out at the start of 2023. I decided to rerelease it in time for the Paris Olympics because it was such a cool conversation. Also, the podcast has grown so much since it came out I thought there would be a lot of new listeners who are unaware Lisa has even been a guest. This is such a cool conversation. We see Lisa on TV, usually smiling on the podium with a gold medal around her neck followed by a 30-second sound bite on the news. But I have never heard Lisa be this candid before. Ever. This is a true look into the mind of a world-class athlete. You'll get to know her strengths, weaknesses, flaws, fears, insecurities, and everything in between. There are so many cool lessons and insights in this conversation:The challenges female athletes face, such as maintaining balance between a demanding sports career and personal life ambitions.Lisa opens up about the rigorous discipline required in her everyday life to be so good for so long.We explore her early beginnings in Surf Life Saving, the crucial role played by her mentor Ian Ferguson, and the sacrifices required to train at an Olympic level from a young age.Her reflections on body image and the scrutiny of being visibly muscular. Then we chat about the Paris Olympics- will these Games be the last time we see Lisa Carrington compete at this level? This episode is packed with valuable lessons for anyone- whether you want some tips to make your own life better or just learn more about a Kiwi icon.. SAM CLARKE On the morning of July 20th 2023, New Zealand was shocked by a shooting at Commercial Bay in Auckland's CBD.A man on electronically monitored bail took a gun to the construction site where he was working. He killed two colleagues with a shotgun, wounded seven other people, including a police officer, and then killed himself.Sam Clarke, a husband and father, was shot that day. But he is not included in that list of victims. Sam was working his dream job as a member of the NZ police Armed Offenders Squad when he was hit in the helmet by a bullet from the gunman. It was a job he loved, but a job he had to turn his back on because it nearly cost him his life. This is part of his story. In vivid detail he talks about the morning of July 20 and how it played out from the perspective of an on-duty cop.Dealing with a concussion and struggling to reassure his loved ones, he was ok in the immediate aftermath. The comprehensive support provided by the police force, including psychological and medical help. The emotional and physical toll the incident took on him. And the transformative power of therapy and vulnerability. Some of Sam's personal experiences about overcoming anxiety, dealing with flashbacks and much more. It's the first time Sam has done anything like this, and I can't thank him enough for his courage in being so open and vulnerable with sharing his experience.Follow Sam's new business, Response Rise:He is using the skills he learned in the Police to teach others what to do in armed offender incidents, confrontational situations, retail crime and more.https://www.responserise.com/IG: response_rise Hosted on Acast. Teuila Blakely is a total bad-ass and this was such a treat. You may know her from her work on the old music channel C4, or Shortland Street, Bro-Town, Sione's Wedding or even DWTS or a zillion other things. But this is less about her career and more about her journey- some pivotal moments that have shaped her personal and professional life. From the challenges of being raised by a very tough mum, to then becoming a teenage solo-mum, humiliating experiences with racism, her beautiful friendship with her ex-fiancé Oscar Kightely, how she went from McDonalds to movies and so much more. Including THAT snap-chat incident.Teuila is a genuine trailblazer, and it was an honor to have her share some of the less glamourous aspects of her life. She is as authentic as it gets and an open book. ay-Jay Feeney:On Friday July 5, 2024, NZ Broadcasting legend Jay-Jay Feeney will do her final radio show on More FM. Ending a career that has spanned 33 years and too many award wins to count.I have an obvious bias, but I genuinely believe NZ will never ever see another broadcaster (on music radio) of her caliber ever again. She is the Greatest of All Time. This podcast was recorded just a few days before her final radio show. We discussed her decision to finish and reflect on her career. We also talk about her love of the listening audience and her unrelenting quest to entertain them over the past 3 decades and her thoughts on the future of the medium. Eugene Bareman. His interactions with Dana White and his thoughts on the UFC and whether the fighters are paid fairly. The weight of responsibility he feels as a coach of athletes in a sport that can literally be a matter of life and death.Hilarious story about an interaction with Mark Zuckerberg and who would win an MMA fight between Zuck and Elon Musk. This conversation with Jay-Jay Feeney, NZ broadcasting royalty, came out one year ago, back when this was still a podcast for runners. A lot of you may have heard it at the time, but there are a lot of brand new listeners to the podcast who may be hearing this for the first time. This was a strange episode...just because of the intensely personal nature of it. ICYMI: Jay-Jay and I got married in 2004. We separated about 6 years ago but remain very close. Because of this relationship, we know everything about one another and had the ability to touch upon some very serious stuff. Because of that a trigger warning is needed- this podcast episode discusses family violence and sexual abuse, infertility and IVF, depression, and suicide. If you listen to this and need some professional help in New Zealand, you can call or text 1737 free of charge to talk to a trained counsellor.****Thanks to Skin Institute for sponsoring this episode. It's estimated that about 20% of all adults will get varicose veins at some point in their lives. Rosie Overcomer was born and raised in Gloriavale. She left 11 years ago at the age of 26 with her husband Elijah and their 3 young children.Since then, they have had three more children and life looks very different to how it did a decade ago- we talk about these adjustments to life outside. Including getting her first haircut, celebrating a birthday for the first time at 28, and the liberating moment she wore jeans for the first time.I found Rosie's story compelling, and I hope you guys do as well (quick apology for the sound issues towards the end- there were some tradies outside with a water blaster LOL).****These conversations would not be possible without the backing of the legends at Generate and Radix.Generate are award-winning KiwiSaver specialists. Warning! This episode of The Dom Harvey Podcast may be upsetting to some listeners or viewers, it centers around terminal illness and assisted dying. Please listen with caution. This is the Tracy Hickman story. In March 2019 Tracy, an ultra-marathon runner and accountant, went for a routine mammogram and was hit the devastating news she had an aggressive type of breast cancer.Tracy and I met at the Boston marathon in 2023 where she was running despite battling cancer. You would not know she was sick unless she told you. Nor would you ever see her without a smile- relentlessly positive would be a perfect way to describe her.Tracy asked me if we could do this podcast and it was a privilege.Tracy's story is not just about her battles with cancer or the marathons she's run across all seven continents: It's a larger story of relationships, love, and legacy. And also, an opportunity to shine a light on assisted dying—a subject she believes deserves more coverage and open conversation.I'd like to think this episode is a celebration of Tracy Hickman's undeniable fabulousness. Her wit, warmth, and willingness to discuss topics often shroud in silence. At the very least, I hope this makes all of us appreciate what we have and to make the most of today. Because you never know what tomorrow may bring.Dom Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

TIM ROSS (AKA Rosso):A lot of New Zealanders won't know who Rosso is and that's exciting- because it means you about to get to know a cool person. In the early 2000s when Rosso and I became mates, he was part of Australia's number 1 radio show, “The Merrick and Rosso show.”In 2009, Rosso quit radio and since then has successfully combined his passion for comedy and architecture by doing hundreds of standup comedy shows at some of the most architecturally acclaimed houses around the world. Also he's made a bunch of documentaries, wrote a ton of books, got married, had a family, quit booze and lost his mum- we unpack a lot of the Tim Ross journey here.Including how he met and teamed up with his comedy partner, Merrick Watts. Their groundbreaking stand-up act and how that became one of the most innovative and successful radio shows of all time.We discuss some of his best A list celebrity encounters including Sylvester Stallone, Will Ferrell and David Bowie. MC-ing Sam Neills star studded 60th birthday party, impersonating Russell Crowe as an ongoing TV sketch and lots more. Then the important stuff- losing his mum, his reflections on that time, and somehow finding beauty in the grief. FREDDIE BENNETT:Freddie, an Englishman who now calls New Zealand home, shares his remarkable pivot from life in one fast lane to life in another fast lane. In his old life he was chasing cheap dopamine with copious amounts of alcohol and cocaine. Now he's leaning into the search for a quality dopamine hit by pushing his body to the limit physically and doing epic s**t. And in the process, becoming a better person and making himself and his family and friends proud which is cool.At the time of recording this, Freddie was preparing to leave NZ to take part in a 5-day 250km running event in the Artic. This involves carrying all the food and equipment he needs to survive, temperatures of -50 and running over frozen lakes and mountains. Very different to the cocaine blizzards Freddie used to experience in his past life in the UK.We talk about the moment in New York where a drug dealer held a gun to Freddie's head, the sudden death of his dad and this impact that had on him, his decision to move to NZ with his family and much more. I hope this episode and Freddie's transformation inspires you to get a little more out of your own life. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

JON NABBSI caught up with Jon the day after he landed back in New Zealand after completing an absurd personal running challenge in Canada.Dressed in a superman suit and pushing a stroller containing all his supplies- tent, sleeping bag, food, electronics, everything- he spent 305 days running from one side of Canada to the other- 7351km- solo and unsupported. In the process he raised over $100,000 for child cancer research. His why could not be any more significant either- during the pandemic he lost both his parents to different cancers within a year of each other.I was inspired and I hope you will be too. Janet Redmond calls herself a possibility manager. That title is basically her reworking of the word therapist. She was previously a trauma specialist, training psychotherapists and counsellors.I reached out to Janet immediately after watching the Israel Adesanya documentary movie, “Stylebender.” I thought this grandmother from Nelson in the campervan the surprise star of the film. This is a podcast of two halves. We chat about her relationship with Izzy and a little bit about who she is and what she does to help people. Then, she gets to work on me. Janet is an incredible human with an amazing gift. But I've been scared about sharing it. I guess because I still feel embarrassed when I cry or show some vulnerability. I know that allowing yourself to be vulnerable is a strength and not a weakness. Olivia McTaggart is 24 years old and is one of the greatest pole-vaulters NZ has ever produced. Her highest jump, so far, is 4 meters 71cm (for comparison, the height of a double decker bus is 4 meters 40 centimeters). At 18 she fulfilled her childhood dream of going to the Commonwealth Games and finished in the top 10. Then at her 2nd Commonwealth Games she finished 4th. This year, she is hoping to raise the bar- excuse the pun- and go to the Olympics in Paris. If, like me, you know nothing about pole vaulting you are in for an education as we break down one of the most technical and complex and fascinating sports around. But this is so much more than a sports chat. Liv and I discuss so much cool stuff that I know we can all get some value from:Building confidence through hard work. Her 3 P's: Passion, Persistence and Pride.Body image and so much more. Her pre-pole-vault mantra is “Calm and dangerous” and those 2 words definitely describe Liv.Thanks to the legends who have made this conversation possible- Radix and Generate.According to a study from Massey university, you'll need around $600,000 saved up for an awesome retirement lifestyle. Aesha Scott is one of the stars of the Bravo show “Below Deck.” Some of you will be massive fans of the woman crowned NZ TV personality of the year. But I guess some of you would have no idea who she is. Either way, you are in for a treat! I've done over 100 podcast episodes so far and this might be the wildest episode yet. This true-blue kiwi chick is amazing- relentlessly positive and just naturally likeable and hilarious. But also, so authentic.I think this may be Aesha Scott as you have never heard before- she was so open, raw and vulnerable about a lot of really tough life events. We chat about her mum's battle with alcohol and this impact that had for Aesha as a young girl.Reflections on her parents' divorce.Losing her older brother to a brain tumor. Her recent therapy journey. Her ADHD diagnosis as a kid.How she landed a role on one of the world's biggest reality TV shows and so much more. Thanks so much to my incredible sponsors: Radix and Generate. Please support the legends who support the podcast.https://radixnutrition.co.nz/I was a huge fan of Radix even before they became sponsors. MERE BAKERYou may not know the name. But please don't let that put you off- you are about to be introduced to a hilarious, inspiring, infectious and talented wahine who has one hell of a story. Mere has by her own admission done a lot of dumb shit…but she has also done a lot of work to become the woman she is today and it's a privilege to share her story.Mere is a former sports star. She won the world cup with the Kiwi ferns in 2003 and was an Aotearoa Sevens international. These days she dabbles in TV commentary. Before that she coached rugby all over the world and had such an impact on a young Ruby Tui that a whole chapter of Rubys book was centered around her coaching style- “abrupt” is the word Ruby uses to describe her! This is the Mere Baker story- warts n all. Thanks to the sponsors of this episode, Radix and Generate.Radix is the baby of a previous podcast guest, Mike Rudling. He started this company with the very earnest goal of making you and I live longer and more quality lives by improving our diets. His episode is well worth checking out. Steve Williams- the worlds greatest golf caddy of all time! This was such an honor. Steve is by design a pretty reclusive guy. This is the first long form podcast about his life that he has ever done so it's a true honor he agreed to do it.As you would expect, there is a lot of Tiger Wood chat ahead- they were, after all, best friends and had an incredible working relationship for 12 very successful years. Tiger has won a total of 15 majors…and Steve was his caddy for 13 of them.We talk about Tigers mindset, the dynamics of their relationship, how Steve coped with the backlash from Tigers well publicized indiscretions, the perks, and bonuses from being the caddy of the world's best golfer and so much more. But this is not Tigers story- this is the Steve Williams story and I'm so excited to give you a peak into the mind of this reluctant hero who for a period in the early 2000s was New Zealand's highest paid sportsperson….and then gave a lot of it away to Starship hospital.Big thanks to my sponsors who make these weekly conversations possible. Simone Maier- most of you probably won't know the name, but you are in for a treat! Simone is, plain and simply a multisport savage. She has won the Coast to Coast four times, after moving to NZ from Germany at 20 unable to speak any English. She was also teammates in a Godzone event with Richie McCaw and was a contestant on the reality TV show “Tracked.”But what makes Simone's story is the adversity. Before she came here and experienced the highest or highs, she had to endure very low lows growing up, events which culminated in Simone spending a full year in rehab for an eating disorder and self-harm. Because of all the themes we discuss, I've included a list of resources and numbers available to call in NZ if you feel the need to talk to a professional (You'll find these at the bottom of this page). This episode was made entirely possible by the team at Radix. Radix sponsor Simone and took care of all her travel arrangements for this chat. We both gush about how much we love Radix products in this chat. Simone is one of the elite communities that have known about Radix stuff for years. High performance sports people have been using the stuff for years. Its only now that us regular people are learning about this incredible Kiwi creation from Hamilton.Protein powders, smoothie recovery powders and the best freeze-dried meals in the world. If you want 2024 to be the year you bring your health and fitness goals to life, Radix can help.https://radixnutrition.co.nz/ Free call or text 1737 to talk with a trained counsellor, anytime.Lifeline 0800 543 354 (0800 LIFELINE) or free text 4357 (HELP) - here to helpSamaritans 0800 726 666 – for confidential support for anyone who is lonely or in emotional distressDepression Helpline 0800 111 757 or free text 4202 – to talk to a trained counsellor about how you are feeling or to ask any questions www.depression.org.nzHealthline 0800 611 116 – for advice from experienced health staff Hosted on Acast.
