Today on the podcast, the Whiteblock Team joins host Tom Shaughnessy of 51percent to discuss their widely circulated technical research report titled; "EOS: An Architectural, Performance, and Economic Analysis Paper". Tom is joined by Zak Cole the CTO of Whiteblock, Nate Blakely a systems developer at Whiteblock and Daniel Choi a blockchain developer at Whiteblock. Why the actual throughput or tx/s of EOS falls short of what is marketed or promised. EOS can only handle a few dozen tx/s not 5,000 to 10,000 tx/s. The issues with having 21 block producers, and the formation of cartels. The results of the team's three-month analysis of EOS, which comprised thousands of hours. The issues with voting on EOS and why fixing the constitution cant fix the current problems. The problems with Bandwidth and Log Storage (Disk), Computation and Computational Backlog (CPU) and Storage (RAM) on EOS. Could Block One act against EOS or is the fact that we have to trust that they wont against EOS the real issue? ----more---- 51percent's Reports on Tezos and MakerDAO Follow Tom on Twitter @Shaughnessy119 EOS: An Architectural, Performance, and Economic Analysis Paper Follow Zak on Twitter @0xzak Follow Nate on Linkedin Follow Daniel on Linkedin Follow Whiteblock on Twitter @whiteblockio ----more---- Sign Up For 51percent's Leading Crypto Research 51percent's Institutional Crypto Podcasts are to the point discussions with crypto leaders for analysts, funds and institutions. No theme this week! Next week, we're narrowing down our fall kdrama choices. We will be covering the second hour of "Ms. Ma, Nemesis" (미스마), "Matrimonial Chaos" (최고의 이혼) and "The Player" (플레이어). Digressions: 0:42 - Teresa has been watching "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon" 3:17 - Judy's farewell to "Witcher 3" 5:53 - "Live" (라이브) is an excellent frontline cop drama from TVN starring Jung YuMi, Lee KwangSoo, Bae SeongWoo and Bae JongOk. It's actually from March, but whaddya gonna do, we just felt like watching it. Judy wishes there could be a realistic drama like this, but for medical staff who are not doctors. 23:29 - "The Ghost Detective" (오늘의 탐정) is a supernatural drama from KBS starring Daniel Choi, Park EunBin and Lee JiAh. We're not quite sure if this first hour is effectively setting up the premise of a detective who specializes in the paranormal. It is definitely creepy, though. Special shout out to Judy's dog, Bori, for not being a possessed dog that kidnaps children. 47:00 - "Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter" (계룡선녀전) is a TVN show starring Moon ChaeWon, Yoon HyunMin, Seo JiHoon and Go DooShim. We were looking forward to a lighthearted, romantic drama based on a folk tale, and what we got was a disappointing production with grating characters, inconsistencies in the basic premise, and the most awful-looking CGI cat we've ever seen. Some Korean terms: 공무원: [gong-moo-won] government employee; generally considered one of the best jobs to have in Korea. 고시원: [go-si-won] dormitory-style living space; previously used by people studying for professional exams but nowadays used by young single professionals or the elderly. 흥신소: [heung-sin-so] private investigator office; not considered to be very reputable in Korea. In this episode, I sit down and talk with one of my earliest inspirations within the dance and more specifically, breaking/hip-hop culture. (On an important side note, I also want to mention and say thank you to Daniel Choi, or Cho-one, for being my first mentor in this craft as well as introducing me to my guest early in my journey. I'm grateful for what you've taught me. Thank you.) He goes by the name of Zeshen Wu and is a current resident psychiatrist in training, a graffiti artist, and a b-boy. As a young child, he grew up in China, but later moved to San Juan in Puerto Rico for four years before he first moved to Houston in the United States. If that doesn't sound interesting enough, our conversation will, hopefully, tickle your fancy. We cover everything from the destigmatization of mental illness and psychiatry, his first encounter with racism, cultural differences on healing, how to bring out your most authentic self, anti-blackness, racism, and discrimination within aapi communities and hip-hop culture, among many other topics. Now, before you listen to this episode, I want to bring to awareness to something that I recently realized from this podcast - One of the things that I personally want to strive for is authentic expression of who I am. However, there are many lives that have been lost, apprehended, and taken away because they were trying to be authentic to themselves and their identity simply due to the fact that someone did not agree with them. Although I encourage everyone to understand their insecurities and vulnerabilities and own them, I also want to bring awareness to the fact that some people do not have that ability due to their circumstances. Just a quick note. Back to this episode, a lot of other thoughts were also generated from this conversation, and I hope that you will be as inspired as I was listening to this conversation with Dr. Zeshen Wu. It was a treat for me, and I hope that it will be the same for you. Enjoy.
