Welcome to the 50th episode of the ATL Career Journey podcast! Today's guest is Missy Pitcher, who is Co-Owner and President of CMIT Solutions of Atlanta Northeast. I've worked with Missy twice in my career at EarthLink and at Equifax and we both got started early in the project management arena. Her original dream was to be a lawyer but her career went through a few iterations before she settled in corporate life. Missy ultimately wanted to be a business owner and she and her husband made that dream a reality a few years ago. Some of her keys to success are to work hard, trust in your abilities, and to embrace the hardships that will give you life lessons to ultimately succeed. We also discussed some important social issues and Missy provided some great advice on allyship. I really enjoyed our conversation on a number of levels and hope you do too!You can learn more about Missy on LinkedIn.

As CEO of CMIT Solutions, Roger Lewis spearheads the widely recognized IT support franchise with its growth across the nation, adding to its over 220 locations. Before joining CMIT Solutions, Lewis co-founded AllianceTech, a meeting and events technology provider of onsite solutions. There, he led sales and marketing, taking the business from zero to $12 million-plus in bookings. In 2015, industry leader Cvent took notice and acquired the company, adding onsite solutions to its product portfolio. Under Cvent, Lewis continued to propel the business forward with onsite solutions proving it to be one of the fastest growing product lines of the company. [0:59] Josh introduces today’s guest, Roger Lewis, the CEO of CMIT Solutions. [2:35] Josh welcomes Roger to Franchise Euphoria. [3:59] Roger explains that he started his business career with IBM out of college, but shortly after a move to Austin, TX, prompted an opportunity with CMIT Solutions. [5:41] Roger shares what the CMIT business concept is and what their goals are. [6:53] In Roger’s opinion, most CMIT franchisees start out of a home office and they can move into a brick and mortar location, but it isn’t necessary. [9:29] While people often assume that in order to be a franchisee candidate at CMIT, you have to have a strong IT background, but Roger explains that isn’t the case. [12:13] Originally, the “CM” in the name of the business stood for “Computer Moms”, but it has since transitioned to “Computer Monitoring.” [16:14] One of the biggest factors that led to CMIT having extra work to do when the pandemic broke out was that with so many people adapting to a work from home lifestyle, they found that their home systems weren’t properly protected. [19:38] Roger weighs in on which virtual meeting platforms he believes are the best. [23:20] In Roger’s opinion, the reason cyber security has become such a big threat is because small businesses are being recognized for not having quality protection and are therefore getting targeted. How To Buy A Franchise Show | Dr. John Hayes provides insight on how to buy and operate a franchise
Jeff Connally, president and CEO of CMIT Solutions, a franchise that provides IT services to small and mid-sized businesses, is this week’s guest on the How To Buy A Franchise Show. CMIT Solutions supports more than 130 franchisees in almost 170 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Connally describes the business as “low cost, high margin” and prospective franchisees are not required to have any technology experience whatsoever. Furthermore, franchisees are encouraged to establish and build relationships with small and mid-sized businesses in their market and not to handle IT service calls! The “all-in” cost to open a CMIT franchise is just shy of $200,000. In Entrepreneur’s 2017 Franchise 500, CMIT Solutions ranked #117 and Connally says he’s proudly watched his company improve on that list year after year. For more information about CMIT Solutions, please contact us and we’ll get you in touch. Meanwhile, enjoy Connally’s interview with Dr. John P. Hayes.

In the past if someone wanted to rob you they would buy a knife. They would wait in a dark alley and when you passed by they would stick you up. With the invention of the locomotive the same thief was able to scale his business by robbing hundreds during a train heist. Fast forward to last year December. 1 out of every 3 Americans were exposed to the Target data breach last year. Millions of people had money and personal information stolen. With the recent SONY hack we are looking at the possibility of nation states versus nation states in a cyber warfare setting. Today we were joined today by President of CMIT Solutions / Northwest Houston Suburbs, Camille Hamilton Camille Hamilton, Owner of CMIT Solutions/Northwest Houston Suburbs and has over twenty-nine years experience in the Information Technology industry. Prior to starting her own business in 2000, she worked primarily for Fortune 500 energy companies in their IT services departments.
