Pour le passage à 2020, L'Abcdr du Son décrypte dix ans de rap français en un podcast, de 2010 à aujourd'hui.Ligue de battles acapella, les Rap Contenders ont fait souffler un vent d’air frais à leur création en 2010. Dinos, Nekfeu, Deen Burbigo, Bigflo & Oli, Alpha Wann… comment ces battles filmés avec peu de moyens sont devenus la plateforme de découverte de talents qui ont fleuri sur toute la décennie suivante ? En redéfinissant les barrières du genre et des possibilités, notamment en termes de sonorités, Jul, PNL et MHD ont-ils été les instigateurs d’un renouveau du son rap made in France ? Encore plus haut que le haut du panier de la pop urbaine, l’ambitieux « Antidote » marque le retour de Shay sur un terrain où l’on ne l’attendait pas. Et pourtant, cet album est bien celui que l’artiste belge aurait dû faire dès son début de carrière. Moins en force et sur la défensive que sur « Jolie garce », dans un équilibre parfait entre vulnérabilité et triomphe, Shay livre le doux fruit d’une introspection de trois ans, et pose la première pierre d’un rap de femmes d’un nouveau genre, aux propos non conditionnés par le fait qu’elle soit une femme, justement. Famille, argent, amour… Shay aborde des sujets ultra communs dans le rap français masculin pour parler d’elle-même, sincèrement et sans tabou. Alors, pourquoi aussi peu de succès ?
