Tetapi pada zaman Perjanjian Lama, Betlehem hanyalah kota kecil, sederhana, bahkan tidak dianggap istimewa. Itulah sebabnya nubuat dari Nabi Mikha mengejutkan banyak orang: Mesias—Raja yang dijanjikan Tuhan—akan lahir di Betlehem? Bukankah kota itu terlalu kecil dan tidak berarti? Ketika kita merasa tidak mampu, Tuhan bisa memakai hidup kita untuk melakukan hal-hal yang luar biasa. Dan ketika Yesus lahir, hal itu menggenapi nubuat Mikha.Mesias benar-benar lahir di Betlehem, kota kecil yang Tuhan pilih untuk menggenapi rencana besar-Nya. Ini menjadi “sidik jari keempat” yang menunjukkan bahwa Yesus adalah Mesias yang dijanjikan. Tuhan tidak perlu tempat besar, orang hebat, atau hal-hal yang luar biasa untuk bekerja. Ingat istilah "alternative facts" yang dulu dipopulerkan Kellyanne Conway? Di tahun 2026, angka inflasi pun jadi subjek debat selera. Kalau pendukungnya merasa sejahtera, maka angka statistik resmi yang menunjukkan hal sebaliknya akan langsung dicap sebagai fake news. Baginya, fakta adalah apa yang dirasakan rakyat, bukan apa yang ditulis oleh birokrat. Urusan energi pun Trump tidak mau main-main. Slogannya tetap sama: "Drill, Baby, Drill." Masalah perubahan iklim? Itu dianggap urusan nomor sekian. Trump pernah bilang bahwa isu pemanasan global hanyalah ciptaan China agar manufaktur Amerika tidak kompetitif. Di tahun 2026, pengerukan bahan bakar fosil secara besar-besaran menjadi jalan utama untuk menjaga kedaulatan ekonomi Amerika. Kitab sucinya masih tetap satu: The Art of the Deal. Trump sangat percaya pada kekuasaan daya tawar atau leverage. Jangan harap ada lagi bantuan gratis dari Washington. Setiap dolar yang keluar harus ada untungnya bagi Amerika. Hubungan luar negeri Amerika di tahun 2026 adalah cermin dari transaksi murni: ada uang, ada barang, dan harus ada keuntungan yang nyata. Kelompok yang dia sebut sebagai "The Forgotten Man" tetap menjadi jualan politik utamanya. Janjinya dulu sangat jelas: orang-orang yang terlupakan ini tidak akan dilupakan lagi. Trump tidak peduli meskipun defisit anggaran membengkak sangat besar. Teorinya sederhana: pertumbuhan ekonomi yang cepat nantinya akan menutup lubang defisit itu. Ini adalah ekonomi sisi penawaran atau supply-side dengan dosis tinggi, jauh lebih berani jika dibandingkan dengan zaman Presiden Reagan dulu. Namun, kritik terhadapnya tetap nyaring terdengar. Tony Schwartz, pria yang menuliskan buku The Art of the Dealuntuknya, pernah menyatakan penyesalan mendalam karena telah "mempercantik" sosok Trump. Di tahun 2026, ketidakstabilan sistemik akibat gaya kepemimpinannya yang impulsif makin terasa. Seluruh dunia seolah bergetar setiap kali Trump berubah pikiran secara mendadak. Institusi dunia seperti WTO kini hampir lumpuh total. Bagi Trump, lembaga semacam itu hanyalah beban yang menghambat langkahnya. Peter Oborne mencatat pandangan mendasar Trump: dunia itu tempat yang keras dan berbahaya. Maka, Amerika harus kuat sendirian. Aliansi-aliansi lama rontok satu per satu, digantikan oleh kesepakatan bilateral pendek yang bisa dibatalkan hanya dalam semalam. Bagaimana dampaknya bagi kita di Indonesia? Tentu saja sangat terasa. Tidak ada lagi zona nyaman dalam berdiplomasi. Kita dipaksa memilih: mau ikut aturan main Amerika yang sangat berat atau siap menghadapi tembok tarif yang tinggi. Diplomasi ekonomi kini tidak lagi diisi kata-kata manis. Semuanya telah berubah menjadi transaksi dagang yang sangat dingin dan hitung-hitungan. Di dalam negeri Amerika sendiri, polarisasi justru makin parah. Kota-kota besar yang melek teknologi terus berantem dengan masyarakat pedesaan yang mendukung industri fosil. Trump sengaja memelihara perbedaan ini. Dia butuh narasi "Kita lawan Mereka" untuk melanggengkan setiap kebijakan fiskalnya yang seringkali memicu kontroversi besar. Keamanan bahkan dijadikan alat untuk membenarkan kebijakan ekonomi. Pakar sejarah Sir Richard Evans pernah memperingatkan bahwa gaya bahasa Trump mirip dengan pemimpin otoritarian abad ke-20. Ancaman dari luar dijadikan alasan untuk menutup perbatasan. Di tahun 2026, urusan ekonomi dan keamanan nasional telah menjadi dua sisi dari mata uang yang sama. (Contact@eanvoiceit.com) New Anti-Conversion Laws in India According to Persecution.org Police in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan recently registered the first case under the state's recently enacted anti-conversion legislation against two missionaries. The Christians were accused of carrying out religious conversions at a gathering through “allurement,” according to media reports. After registering the case on Nov. 20, police issued notices to the two missionaries – Chandy Varghese from New Delhi and Arun John from Kota – claiming they promoted conversion and baptised several people during a three-day program known as ‘Spiritual Satsang' at Beersheba Church in Kota. Police investigated after videos and social media clips surfaced showing event speeches and activities. Several youths allegedly announced from the stage that they put their faith in Jesus Christ and were baptized, while calling upon others to adopt Christianity. Rajasthan is one of 12 states in India that has strict anti-conversion laws. A first information report (FIR) was registered by the police after complaints were lodged by hardline Hindu groups active in controlling Christian activities. 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3 That we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.  But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. Christians in Uganda Threatened Despite Freedom of Religion Laws A Sudanese Christian family in Uganda is living in fear after Muslim extremists from Sudan and Somalia threatened to kill them. Safaa Yousif, who fled her native Sudan to Uganda due to conflict and religious persecution in 2016, received a text message from an anonymous number threatening to kill her family. Muslims from Somalia have also threatened her.  Yousif said she once gave discipleship classes to new converts, and a Somali Muslim who had put his faith in Christ was kidnapped and tortured by his co-religionists from Somalia and Sudan. Somalia is ranked 2nd on the Christian support group Open Doors 2025 World Watch List of the 50 countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Its constitution establishes Islam as the state religion and prohibits the propagation of any other religion, according to the US State Department.  It also requires that laws comply with Sharia Principles, with no exceptions in application for non-Muslims. The threats on Yousif's family in Uganda were the latest of many instances of persecution of Christians in Uganda. An interesting fact to consider is that Uganda's constitution and other laws provide for religious freedom, including the right to propagate one's faith and convert from one faith to another.  Muslims make up no more than 12 percent of Uganda's population, with high concentrations in eastern areas of the country. New hurdle in James Comey case The prosecution of former FBI Director James Comey hit another hurdle last Wednesday as the Justice Department encountered mounting questions about how the case was presented to a grand jury for indictment, reports the Associated Press. The development risked further jeopardizing a politically charged prosecution already subject to multiple challenges and demands for its dismissal. It came during a hearing in which Comey's lawyers asked U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff to throw out the case on grounds that the government was being vindictive and as a separate challenge to Lindsey Halligan, the hastily appointed and inexperienced prosecutor who secured the indictment, is pending. The Justice Department's acknowledgment under questioning from a judge that the full grand jury did not review a copy of the final indictment is the latest indication of its seemingly disjointed pursuit of a criminal case against one of President Donald Trump's political enemies. Comey was fired by Trump in May 2017 while overseeing an FBI investigation into potential ties between Russia and Trump's 2016 campaign. The two have been publicly at odds ever since. New Exoskeleton Suit is Accomplishing Miracles At a Canadian wellness center, a unique robotic exoskeleton is allowing children with developmental disorders to walk-often for the first time. The nonprofit's Regina location in Canada is eager to get families to come and try it out.  It can be used to correct a child's gait or help them take their first steps, and is suitable for a variety of conditions including spinal cord injuries and cerebral palsy. Good News Network reports that the First Steps Wellness Center in Canada received the Trexo exoskeleton out of the goodness of someone's heart!  The $100,000 machine was donated to help children like Leo, a boy born with a rare genetic disease which left him a prognosis that walking would be impossible.  But, latched into the Trexo walker at First Steps, his mother Anna has watched her son learn to walk and develop a musculature that has him able to take steps on his own. ANNA: “He does a few steps right now by himself, and with Trexo, I'm pretty sure he'll be able to do more steps in the future, once we start using it more often.” There are currently 6 Trexo exoskeletons sold and in use today.  After a few sessions, how is Leo doing today? ANNA: “He can walk! You know, be part of everybody else, like walk like other kids. So, it's kind of- It's unique. He did amazing. I have butterflies. Venture capital funding into Irish SMEs in the second quarter fell to its lowest level in ten years, according to the Irish Venture Capital Association VenturePulse survey published today in association with William Fry. Funding plummeted to €112.6m, from €494m in the same quarter last year. This is the lowest figure the IVCA has recorded since the second quarter in 2015. As a result, funding in the first half of the year fell by 14% to €645.5m from €752.7m the previous year. "The fall off would have been worse if not for a record first quarter 2025, which saw an increase of over 100% to €532.8m compared to the same period last year," commented Caroline Gaynor, chairperson, Irish Venture Capital Association. She added that the quarterly result was largely explained by an 81% pullback by international investors, which invested €69.5m in the quarter, compared to €375.3m the previous year, a shortfall of over €305m. "This is a timely warning sign for Ireland and highlights the need for us to stand on our own feet in terms of funding and backing for our brightest and best indigenous start-ups, instead of depending on volatile international support," she said. Sarah-Jane Larkin, director general, IVCA, said that bearish international sentiment was reflected in quarter two deal sizes. "There was only one deal (Nomupay) in the 30m+ category, compared to five last year. Funding fell by 88% to €37m from €300.3m." There was also only one deal in the €10 10m+ category (Kota), down from six rounds last year. Funding fell by 87% to €12.4m from over €100m. "There was a falloff in all deal sizes, with the exception of those under €1m," added Sarah-Jane Larkin. "Seed funding, or first rounds by SMEs, fell by over a half to €25.5m." She added, "The IVCA applauds the recent DETE report, which found that 'there is a need for future government intervention to improve the supply of scaling finance'. This new data emphasises the urgency of the situation. "In an increasingly isolationist global economic market, it is more important than ever that we are not dependent on international capital or sentiment and have the capacity to fund our own indigenous winners." The life sciences sector with €255.3m (40%) led the way in funding for the half year, followed by cybersecurity (18%); fintech (14%); software (9%); and AI & machine learning (8%).

The recent deadly flooding in communities in Texas, New Mexico, West Virginia and New Jersey served as a sobering reminder of the unpredictable power of nature. These events undoubtedly stirred some memories of the deadly Black Hills Flood in June 1972.In this podcast we have a newly-recorded recollection by James and Sarah Solano, and an archived recollection by the late Bill Boylan used in a podcast for the first time. James and his friends sought shelter when their car was swept away by the rising waters near the School of Mines.
