Jazz Chisolm Jr hit his fifth career grand slam as the Marlins erupted for six runs in the first inning off the National's Patrick Corbin, but it was not enough, as Miami lost their sixth straight game, 12-9 at Loan Depot Park. Luis Arraez, Bryan De La Cruz and Vidal Brujan each went 2-4 for the Fish, who had six hitters drive in at least a run in the game. Chisolm, Jr., now has six career grand slams, second on the Marlin's all-time list behind Mr. Marlin himself, Jeff Conine. Nick Senzel crushed two home runs for the Nats, driving in five runs. Jacob Young had three hits and three RBI's, and Try Lipscomb added three hits. The twelve runs scored by Miami were more than they had plated in their previous eight games combined, but it wasn't enough to stop them from losing their sixth straight game. The Marlins and Nats wrap up this four-game series tomorrow. We will be here with your Locked On Marlins POSTCAST right after the game!
Travis d'Arnaud homered for the 5th time in his last 8 at-bats, a two-run shot off the foul pole to spark a three-run third inning, and that would be all Bryce Elder needed to lead the Atlanta Braves past the Miami Marlins 3-0 on Monday in Atlanta. The Marlins got to Elder right away, with back-to-back singles from Luis Arraez and Bryan De La Cruz and a double from Jazz Chisholm, Jr., to start the game, but Arraez was thrown out at home plate on Chisolm's double, then Josh Bell and Jesus Sanchez each flew out to end the threat. From there, the Marlins scattered seven hits but weren't able to get that one big hit that would lead to a big inning. Ryan Weathers pitched very well for Miami, allowing three earned runs- all in the 4th- in 5 2/3 innings. Weathers gave up six hits and walked three, three and two of which came in that fourth inning. The Marlins still haven't won two games in a row this season. The Fish are now 6-18, and 0-7 in series openers. The Braves have the best record in baseball at 15-6, including a 3-1 record vs. the Marlins. The two teams face off again tomorrow, with Trevor Rogers (0-2) scheduled to pitch for Miami against the Braves' Max Fried, 1-0. In this episode, host Dr. Ashley Agan discusses eustachian tube (ET) dilation with Dr. Dennis Poe, neurotologist and Professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School. First, the surgeons describe clinically meaningful differences between adult and pediatric ETs. Then, Dr. Poe reviews workup of pediatric ET disorders. Since inflammation accounts for most ET dysfunction, controlling comorbid allergies and/or performing adenoidectomy provides relief to some patients. For patients with continued symptoms, balloon dilation – now approved for children as young as eight years of age– directly counteracts obstructive inflammation in the tube lumen. To conclude, Dr. Poe describes how to select patients for, perform, and avoid complications of balloon dilation. --- CHECK OUT OUR SPONSOR Acclarent AERA Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation System https://www.jnjmedtech.com/en-US/product/Acclarent-aera-eustachian-tube-balloon-dilation-system --- SHOW NOTES 00:00 - Introduction 04:03 - Understanding Eustachian Tube Anatomy 07:22 - Causes of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction in Children 12:53 - Examination and Diagnosis of Eustachian Tube Dysfunction 19:10 - Treatment Options for Eustachian Tube Dysfunction 27:05 - Avoiding Unpredictable Injury and Scarring During Balloon Dilation 31:51 - Contraindications and Precautions for Balloon Dilation 37:49 - Understanding Risks & Complications of Balloon Dilation 48:34 - Closing Remarks & Future Prospects --- RESOURCES Dr. Dennis Poe's Harvard Profile: https://oto.hms.harvard.edu/people/dennis-poe BackTable ENT Ep. 40 – “Diagnosis & Management of Eustachian Tube Disorders with Dr. Dennis Poe:” https://www.backtable.com/shows/ent/podcasts/40/diagnosis-management-of-eustachian-tube-disorders American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Clinical Practice Guideline: Otitis Media with Effusion (Update): https://www.entnet.org/quality-practice/quality-products/clinical-practice-guidelines/ome/ “Complications of Eustachian Tube Balloon Dilation: Manufacturer and User Facility Device Experience (MAUDE) Database Analysis and Literature Review,” Chisolm, P.F. et al: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10731503/

Inverness is a city in the north of Scotland, steeped in tradition from music to food to attire. It's one of those places where kilts are not just worn for the tourists...but for everyday wear. And in a little shop called Chisolm's Highland Dress you'll find tradition wrapped in tarten and adorned with a sporran. Heather has been making kilts there for 60 years. "A kilt is 8 yards of fabric and it takes time to get the pleating right," she says. "It's an art and it is founded on tadition. And even though we have become a society of 'wants', meaning you want this plaid or that instead of the one assigned your clan, we believe in the old ways of doing things. That means doing things right every time." And she means it. Hear her take on kilts and traditions in this episode of Erin's Isle.

“The Mind is the primary weapon. Everything else is just a means to an end. When the body fails the mind takes over. When the mind fails the spirit takes over. There is no greater study, higher study than the study of self.” – Gerry Chisolm "Lady Sensei"My guest this episode is Gerry Chisolm, who is known as the Lady Sensei. She is the founding president of the Women's Martial Arts Network, a 3rd Dan in Ninjutsu under Professor Ronald Duncan who is considered to be the Father of American Ninjutsu. She is also a 5'th Dan Instructor in Vee Arnis Jitsu and is an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer who has spent more than 8 years as a Behavioral Health and Psychiatric Emergency Response Team Member. She is highly skilled in crisis prevention and management and has de-escalated thousands of clinical interventions, and travel's the world teaching women's self-defense and 21'st century combatives which include empty hands and improvised weapons. This episode is all about making the weak strong. We live in a world where stronger people both psychologically and physically can tend to trample on and take advantage of smaller or weaker people. My key takeaway is that fear and lack of self-knowledge is what holds people back from reclaiming their power and discovering their true potential. Martial Arts training provides us with the skills and tools that help us deal with adversity, face our fears, and heal from our traumas. With the proper tools and guidance, we realize that courage is a choice in the face of fear and that peace is a choice amidst the chaos. We also dive deep into training methods, and specifically discuss how women must be approached differently than men. Lady Sensei drops some major insight into the differences and shares how to effectively communicate and tailor programs for women. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and was inspired by Lady Sensei's personal story of how she has dealt with bullying, trauma, and a man who stalked her for 4 years. She is a true example of the life transformative power of martial arts, and her ministry is one of making the weak strong. Tune in for a powerful experience.

Emma hosts Anastasia Curwood, Professor of History at the University of Kentucky, to discuss her recent book Shirley Chisholm: Champion of Black Feminist Power Politics. Then, she's joined by labor and politics reporter Cole Stangler, to discuss the recent worker protests in France. First, Emma runs through updates on the death toll from the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, the brutality coverup in the Atlanta PD's Cop City killing of an activist, the role of Norfolk Southern Freight in helping kill the safety regulations that would've aided their most recent chemical derailment, and the Ohio reporter that was arrested for asking questions about the incident, before diving into Ron DeSantis absolutely charisma-free response to being called a pedophile by Donald Trump. Professor Anastasia Curwood then dives right into her work creating what may be the first true cradle-to-grave biography of one of America's most important political figures of the 20th Century, parsing through Shirley Chisholm's roots as a Brooklyn-born daughter of formerly enslaved immigrants from Barbados, immediately entering into a world of Black radicalism and political organizing, from her grandmother's emphasis on self-determination to her father's involvement with Marcus Garvey, all shaping the lead up to her political career. Next, Professor Curwood walks Emma through the start of Chisholm's entrance into politics, running with insurgent Democrat clubs to win a seat on the New York State Assembly in 1964, where she would align herself growing Civil Rights movement and garner an incredible grassroots base that, alongside the electoral realignment coming out of the Civil Rights Act, put her in an ideal position to become Brooklyn's first Black Congressperson as she road through a tough primary against former CORE Director James Farmer, before winning the general at the end of 1968. After tackling her role (both in the New York State Assembly and in the House) in fighting for a bolstered social safety net (including pushing a universal childcare bill all the way to Nixon's veto), Emma and Anastasia Curwood wrap up the interview by assessing Chisolm's relationship to the White Feminist movement of the era, including organizing greatly with women like Bella Abzug and Gloria Steinem earlier in her political career, only to be completely deserted by them in her 1972 presidential run. Next, Cole Stangler gets right into the Emmanuel Macron policy that would raise the French pension age at least two years for all workers, parsing through the general consensus among the French as an attack on their labor rights, delaying access to the funds that much of the French have spent decades paying and extending their reliance on labor exploitation. After briefly contrasting the French pension program with the US systems of Social Security and Medicare, Cole Stangler wraps up the interview by tackling the constitutionally-guaranteed labor rights in France, and what this means for the protest moving forwards. And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Brandon Sutton and Matt Binder as Matt discusses his experience debating the right on “what if I like HAD to say the N-Word,” Ben Shapiro relays the good ol' “don't they teach Black people to listen to the cops” dog whistle, and Left Reckoning caller Joe calls in to discuss recommended guests for discussing China-Taiwan relations. Candace Owens flips the fuck out on “demonic” Trans people in coming to the defense of Witchcraft-promoter JK Rowling, WeWork inventor Adam Neumann reinvents Capitalism' parasitic relationship to housing, and Dave from Jamaica tackles the alienating nature of AI Porn, plus, your calls and IMs!
