What kind of men does Scripture call us to become? In this message, we look at Adam's hiding, Jesus' humility, and the call to a different kind of strength — not strength used to control, but strength surrendered to God, shaped by the cross, and trusted by others.Message for June 7, 2026Recorded at Milan Christian Church
Men are suffering—often in silence and alone. The cost is devastating. What happens when a man can no longer outrun himself? Every 13 minutes, a man takes his own life by suicide. For many men, midlife isn't a crisis—it's a reckoning. A shattering of identity, expectations, and the quiet loneliness of performing a life that no longer feels true. In a world that still discourages emotional honesty, Dr. Baruch HaLevi offers something rare: a path back to self through six questions.Working on Purpose is broadcast live Tuesdays at 6PM ET and Music on W4CY Radio (www.w4cy.com) part of Talk 4 Radio (www.talk4radio.com) on the Talk 4 Media Network (www.talk4media.com). In this episode of The Music in Me, I finally talk about one of the greatest entertainers of all time, Michael Jackson. I honestly can't believe it has taken me this long to dedicate a full episode to him because I have always been a huge fan of his music. With the new movie Michael bringing attention back to his incredible story and legacy, it felt like the perfect time to celebrate the King of Pop. I take a look back at Michael's journey from his early days with The Jackson 5 to becoming one of the biggest stars the world has ever seen. I also talk about some of his greatest hits, including songs from Thriller, Off the Wall, and Bad, and discuss why his music still connects with people generations later. From iconic music videos and unforgettable performances to emotional songs with important messages, this episode is all about celebrating the music, artistry, and legacy of Michael Jackson. The Magic of Michael Jackson's Thriller Ep. 62SONGS BY THE JACKSON 5:I Want You BackABCThe Love You ShareI'll Be ThereMICHAEL JACKSON SONGS AND ALBUMS...OFF THE WALL (1979)Don't Stop 'Til You Get EnoughRock With YouTHRILLER (1982)Billie JeanBeat ItThrillerHuman NatureWanna Be Startin' Somethin"BAD (1987)BadThe Way You Make Me FeelDirty DianaSmooth CriminalMan in the MirrorDANGEROUS (1991)Black or WhiteRemember the TimeHeal the WorldJamHIStory CONTINUES (1995)Earth SongThey Don't Care About UsWhat did you think of this episode? He was a free Black saddler from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He had a wife, a newborn daughter, and a rare kind of stability. He gave it all up — and walked into Harpers Ferry with a rifle. Most history books remember John Brown's raid. Few remember the five Black men who joined it. Fewer still remember the one who held the line until he took three bullets in a doorway — and refused to surrender. This week, we're telling the story of Lewis Sheridan Leary. The man history forgot. The man who may have made emancipation possible.
Raising Expectations with Pastor Joe Schofield, Dr. Paul Hall, Stefanie Thayer, Dr. Craig Thayer, Pastor Ron Greer Guest, Dr Sheila Schuller Coleman - Limitless Faith and the Possibility Thinking Friends, We are delighted to have Dr. Sheila Schuller Coleman as our guest to share her testimony and ministry! She is the first born child of Robert H. Schuller. As such, she had a front row seat to watching God move in her father's life. She served as assistant producer of the Hour of Power and also as his senior editor for more than 12 of his manuscripts, including “Tough Times Never Last but Tough People Do”, and “The Be Happy Attitudes”. In addition, Sheila has 16 years of experience in education. She combines a love for children with a deep devotion to the church. Sheila holds a Doctorate in Education from UCI and has authored several books, including “Unearthing the Lost Treasure: Wisdom”, which features an endorsement by Dr. Ben Carson. And her latest, “Claiming the Identity of Christ's Children. A Handbook for Families”. Today, she serves as the Founder and Lead Pastor of Hope Center of Christ in Orange, California. It is a house of prayer, the spiritual pentagon for the international prayer movement, Heart of a Warrior: Delivering the Children of the World for Christ. She actively partners with 15 ministries that are being an answer to the varied attacks on our children world-wide. This episode of Raising Expectations features an inspiring dialogue with Dr. Sheila Schuller Coleman, daughter of the legendary Dr. Robert H. Schuller. The conversation explores the miraculous journey of the Schuller ministry—from an obscure Iowa farm to a global television platform—emphasizing the transformative power of "limitless faith" and the resilience required to navigate life's "bumpy roads." The "Raising Expectations" Mission and Team The program, hosted by Pastor Joe Schofield and his wife Melba, serves as a platform for leaders of all backgrounds to address life's most pressing questions through the lens of faith. The "extended family" of co-hosts includes Dr. Paul Hall, a counselor and writer; Dr. Craig "Tank" Thayer, a trauma surgeon and author of Saved: Finding God in the Ordinary; and Pastor Ron Greer, who works with Man In The Mirror to mentor men. The team emphasizes that faith in Christ provides answers to life's two biggest questions: how to live with purpose and what happens after death. From Iowa Pastures to the Drive-In Church Dr. Sheila Schuller Coleman shares the humble origins of her father, who was raised on a "dead-end dirt road" in Iowa. Despite not being an athlete or having significant resources, he felt a divine calling at age five, famously practicing his sermons for the cows in the pasture. Upon moving to California to plant a church, he found no established congregation and adopted a missionary mindset, knocking on doors to ask neighbors what they needed. This led to the innovative "drive-in church" at a theater snack bar, where the motto was "Come as you are in the family car," allowing people who felt uncomfortable in traditional settings to hear the Gospel from their vehicles. The Theology of the Seed and Limitless Faith A core theme of the discussion is the "theology of the seed," based on Matthew 17:20. Sheila recounts her father's belief that while anyone can count the seeds in an apple, only God can count the apples in one seed. This perspective encourages believers to look past their "lack"—whether in health, resources, or education—and focus on a "limitless God." Sheila illustrates this faith through a childhood memory of her father taking her out into a terrifying Iowa thunderstorm to show her "God's power on display," teaching her that faith is a gift required for the tasks God assigns. Global Expansion and the "Hour of Power" The ministry's reach expanded exponentially following a suggestion from Billy Graham to put the church service on television. Graham even loaned his production team to help launch the Hour of Power. The program eventually broke historical barriers, becoming the first religious program broadcast in the communist USSR on Channel One Russia after a meeting between Dr. Schuller and Mikhail Gorbachev. This global impact was rooted in the elder Schuller's refusal to be deterred by critics; he famously stated that he didn't care what other pastors said about him because they were already saved—his focus remained entirely on the unsaved. Navigating Adversity and Maintaining Hope The dialogue concludes with profound advice on handling trials. Using the "potato" analogy, Sheila explains that just as big potatoes rise to the top of a wagon on a bumpy road, challenges forge character and tenacity in those who refuse to quit. She also shares her grandfather's wisdom: "Never cut a dead tree down in the wintertime." This serves as a metaphor for not making irreversible decisions during seasons of despair, as life often remains in the "stump" waiting for spring. The hosts and guest emphasize that hope is the last thing to lose, and God always has the "last word," which is ultimately good. The legacy of Dr. Robert H. Schuller, as recounted by his daughter, serves as a testament to the idea that no beginning is too small for a "limitless God." By embracing the "possibility thinking" that defined the Hour of Power, individuals can find the tenacity to grow through their trials rather than just go through them.

## **The Man in the Mirror – Proverbs 19**Proverbs 19 serves as a spiritual mirror, moving beyond theoretical suggestions to provide practical, life-changing wisdom. It challenges us to look honestly at our character, our relationships, and our plans, reminding us that while we may craft many schemes, only God's purposes will truly stand.### **Core Themes of Proverbs 19*** **Integrity Over Income:** God measures us by our character, not our material success. It is far better to be poor and walk in honesty than to be wealthy and crooked (v. 1). True maturity involves taking responsibility for our own folly rather than shifting the blame to God (v. 3).* **The Cultivation of Wisdom:** Wisdom isn't automatic; it is built through experience and sometimes through painful seasons of sanctification. Pursuing wisdom is described as an act of self-love—building ourselves from the inside out (v. 8).* **Relational Health:** Our maturity is often revealed by what we can let go of. "Good sense" makes a person slow to anger, and there is glory in overlooking an offense (v. 11). This extends to the home, where a prudent spouse is a gift from the Lord, and constant contention is compared to a relentless, destructive drip (vv. 13-14).* **Sovereignty and Discipline:** While we make many plans, God's purpose prevails (v. 21). We are called to discipline our children with hope and consistent love (v. 18) and to live in the "fear of the Lord," which leads to life, satisfaction, and rest (v. 23).### **Practical Applications**1. **Integrity Audit:** Identify where you are tempted to compromise character for comfort or approval. Choose one concrete step to prioritize integrity this week.2. **Anger & Offense:** Pinpoint a recurring trigger in your life. Practice being "slow to anger" by intentionally overlooking a minor offense.3. **Surrendering Plans:** Name a major worry or plan. Pray specifically for God's purpose to take precedence over your own agenda.

What happens when the hardest battle isn't around you—but within you?In this episode, we confront the man in the mirror. I share encouragement, pieces of my own journey of overcoming, and practical ways to face adversity head-on instead of running from it. Life is hard—but we can do hard things. And if we want to win, if we want to become the person we were created to be, we have to choose to win every single day. That means doing the inner work. Getting the help we need. Keeping the faith when it would be easier to quit.We look to the ultimate example—Jesus, who is in the boat with you in the middle of the storm. He has already faced suffering, so you don't have to do it alone. You were not made merely to survive—you were made to thrive. There is a great purpose on your life, even when the waters feel rough. This season will pass. Shift your mindset from “I have to” to “I get to.” The storm isn't here to break you—it's here to fortify you and equip you for what's next.If you're ready to face yourself honestly, grow intentionally, and walk forward in faith, it's time to take the next step. In this episode, Dave takes on one of the biggest challenges Christian men face today: compromise. What happens when we trade our integrity for comfort? We live in a world that rewards convenience, but God calls us to conviction. Every time we lower our standard, something sacred is lost - our witness, our credibility, our peace. Listen in as Dave unpacks how to identify compromise, count its cost, and take steps to rebuild a life of integrity and strength.
In this powerful and sobering episode, we reflect on the recent deaths of Charlie Kirk and Pastor Voddie Baucham — two bold men who shaped our generation and challenged Christian men to stand firm in truth. Their sudden passing reminds us of life's fragility and the urgent call to live faithfully, boldly, and ready. What does it mean to be “ready” in our time? Spiritually, morally, practically, and missionally? This episode challenges Christian men to confront their mortality, examine their legacy, and rise to the calling God has placed on their lives.

Six weeks ago, I hit a wall. Not a physical one, but a spiritual one. I looked at the man in the mirror and saw someone I swore I'd never become. I was short-tempered, frustrated, and joyless. My family felt it. My wife felt it. My kids felt it. And deep down, I knew it too. I had let stress and frustration steal my joy. I justified my anger. I blamed others. I wanted to be heard—but not with love. I wanted control. I wanted to send a message: I'm in charge. But the message that came through was pain. My kids felt spoken down to. My wife and I couldn't communicate. And the truth? I wasn't leading—I was hurting. But God didn't leave me there. I got on my knees. I cried out. I said, “Lord, take this from me. Fill my heart with your joy. I know my circumstances won't be easy, but I know you love me. You have a plan for my life—and I surrender to it.” Then something beautiful happened.
