In this episode, Caleb is joined by Casey Hough (PhD, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary) to discuss his new book, When Poets were Warriors: Retrieving a Biblical Vision of Masculinity. Together, they discuss how, instead of allowing cultural stereotypes to form our vision of masculinity, we need to return to the emotionally complex and paradoxically challenging example of Jesus' own life and teaching. As the last Adam, the true Son of Abraham, Son of David, Jesus demonstrates how to live in conformity to God's will as a man as He calls us to follow Him.ResourcesWhen Poets Were Warriors: Retrieving a Biblical Vision of Masculinity by Casey HoughDisciplines of a Godly Man by Kent HughesThe Person of Christ: An Introduction by Stephen WellumThe Emotional Life of Our Lord by B.B. In the last of our 3 part series, we focus on the function of leadership and God's design for men to lead. We contrast this with the default thinking of leadership being superior and instead look at the model Jesus provides for leadership. We talk about the beliefs and mindset, practical application, and skills needed so you can understand who God has made you to be. We also look at specific scenarios where leadership is more challenging as well as the part a leader plays to enable others to play their part at the highest level. If you want more on Leadership, we did a 3 part series just on leadership:Click here to start that series where we focus on self leadership.Click here to leave us a review on Spotify.Click here to leave us a review on Apple podcasts.Support The Impossible Life & Get Additional Insider Content by clicking here.GET IN TOUCHAdvertise on the podcast by clicking here. In part 2, we get into specific functions of a Godly man with the focus being seed sowing and weight bearing. As a man, you're made to work and carry weight according to God's design. This is in sharp contrast to a society where retiring early is "living the dream". We go into the specific beliefs needed for this, the rewards, what you must do, and the price of not bearing weight. We also look at the function of seed sowing for men. Far more than sowing a physical seed for reproduction or farming, this is an understanding of what it looks like to live transformationally. We cover what it is, how to use discernment and wisdom to sow great seed and the importance of alignments among many other things.Click here to leave us a review on Spotify.Click here to leave us a review on Apple podcasts.Support The Impossible Life & Get Additional Insider Content by clicking here.GET IN TOUCHAdvertise on the podcast by clicking here. The vision of the Impossible Life is to change the perception of what it means to be a Godly man. God created men in his image with a mandate to do the work he's been given and bring about God's plans on the earth. This requires strength, tenacity, and a deep relationship with God. However this is not what we see among Christian men today. In this episode, we dive deep into the vision of the Impossible Life and pain our picture of the possible of a Godly man as we read it in the Bible. We give the lay of the land and discuss the need for men to rise up and fulfill their God given mandate. We will then get into the 3 roles that Godly men are uniquely designed to play. In this first of a 3 part series, we lay the foundation for understanding God's intent and design in man, the requirement of being submitted to God, and the understanding of maturity, purpose, and process.Click here to leave us a review on Spotify.Click here to leave us a review on Apple podcasts.Support The Impossible Life & Get Additional Insider Content by clicking here.GET IN TOUCHAdvertise on the podcast by clicking here. In this third installment of The Affections of a Godly Man, Stephen Davey explores Romans 1:11-12, where the Apostle Paul reveals his heart for giving spiritual gifts. These gifts were not about material possessions or temporary tokens, but about strengthening the faith of others and leaving an eternal impact. Paul longed to be with the believers in Rome, not to receive anything from them, but to give them something that would build them up in their walk with Christ. This message challenges us to rethink how we define success and gift-giving. Are we only focused on providing for our loved ones physically, or are we striving to leave a spiritual legacy that goes beyond birthdays and Christmas presents? Stephen encourages us to follow Paul's example, to give gifts that encourage and stretch the faith of others, and to invest in relationships that have eternal significance. Whether you are a parent, a spouse, or a friend, this message will inspire you to think beyond the temporary and to give gifts that truly matter—gifts that are born out of the heart of a godly man.

In this continuation of The Affections of a Godly Man series, Stephen Davey leads us deeper into the heart of the Apostle Paul, whose devotion and prayer life offer a model for every Christian. Focusing on Romans 1:9-10, this message explores Paul's affection for God, his constant prayers for others, and his submission to the will of God in all his plans. Stephen emphasizes that godliness doesn't come naturally—it takes spiritual discipline, consistency, and a willingness to wrestle in prayer. Paul's struggle to kneel is a reminder that genuine spiritual growth requires effort and persistence. As believers, we are called to live lives marked by devotion to God, compassion for others, and submission to His will. In a world filled with distractions and temptations, we often find ourselves chasing after meaningless pursuits. But Paul's example challenges us to prioritize what truly matters. Whether you are a man seeking to grow in godliness, a woman praying for her husband, or a parent raising the next generation, this message will encourage you to pursue a deeper, more devoted relationship with Christ.
