If Jesus were to introduce you to a group of His friends, what would Jesus say about you? Jamie Winship will be with us this Thursday to encourage each of us to listen to God telling us about our identity, about being the person God created YOU to be. An Uber driver once said to Jamie, “Does God talk to you? Does he say, ‘This is the identity I have for you'? Because if God does that, it would be pretty amazing. If God told us our identity, we would know what to do with our lives.” Jamie Winship is the author of the best-seller, Living Fearless. He was a Metro Police Officer in Washington DC and then spent more than 20 years in the Middle East working to diffuse terrorist organizations.
Elizabeth Ames is an attorney, wife, and mom of 2 rambunctious boys. She was diagnosed with appendix cancer at 38 years old and, from the outside looking in, she was the picture of health. Elizabeth was an athlete who loved working out and eating healthy, and even previously owned a crossfit gym. She has always been an "avid life consumer" and being diagnosed with cancer only tripled that passion and will to live. Upon diagnosis, Elizabeth read every book she could get her hands on, listened to every podcast, and talked to every mentor and expert she could find. She continued to work out every day and even ran the Winship 5k the day after her 6th round of chemo and one month before her MOAS - Mother of All Surgeries. Somewhere in all of the tips and tricks Elizabeth picked up, as well as the most incredible medical team, she has had no evidence of disease (NED) for 5 years and has survived the unlikely odds of high grade appendix cancer. It's Jamie's fault we needed a part 2 because he has so many amazing stories. We've been talking about how God has better blueprints than we could ever have for ourselves. Ah, predictions. If you've been around for a while, you likely know how we feel about them...which is that they're very frequently wrong. In this episode Sam and Lex discuss LinkedIn's predictions for 2025. It's a list that's much shorter than last year's — which we're taking to mean that LinkedIn is just as confused as the rest of us when it comes to what's to come in the year ahead. Throughout the conversation, we focus on the predictions like the rise of millennial CEOs, the importance of supporting workers for global growth, and the evolving role of corporate employees as influencers. And, of course, we explore how these trends will impact recruitment and workplace dynamics. In this Trending Topics episode, Sam and Lex talk DATA. But before you make any assumptions about how much of a bore this episode must be, listen to this: According to a recent survey, 72% of recruiters don't know their conversion ratios. Which means that 2/3 of recruiters are missing out on critical data insights that could help them be more effective. In this conversation, we spend time talking about the fact that even when things are working, it's good to understand why they're working — so you can double-down on winning behaviors and keep improving with every day. In this Trending Topics episode, Sam and Lex discuss the complexities surrounding 'Quality of Hire' in recruitment — complexities that have often led even ardent fans of the metric to say it's nearly impossible to measure. But what if it didn't actually have to be that difficult? What if while, yes, Quality of Hire is subjective, it's also pretty simple? This conversation highlights Uber's framework for measuring Quality of Hire — emphasizing the importance of developing success profiles, redesigning the hiring process, and validating hires through post-hire surveys. For those fans of Quality of Hire who are looking for a way to measure it, this is a good place to start. Hear some thoughts from our friend (and former podcast guest!) In this episode we discuss the awesome book Living Fearless by Jamie Winship! We delve into the exploration of themes such as fear, truth, identity, and the importance of confession. We discuss how fear can hinder creativity and relationships, and the transformative power of honesty and seeking God. Here are some of the key takeaways we found in Jamie's book... Fear shuts down creativity and the reception of new ideas. We are all afraid, and that fear leads to conflict. Honesty with ourselves, God, and others is crucial for growth. The mysteries of God, self, and others are essential to explore. Confession is the first step towards genuine transformation. Living in a false identity prevents us from knowing our true selves. Satan fears the truth, and deception thrives in its absence. We must seek God to find our true identity. Emotions can indicate underlying lies we believe. Living fearlessly involves confronting fears and lies. Thanks for stopping by and spending some time with us. Remember to stay on track and read your stack!

Anger is one of the top three emotions that stop people from hearing God. You might not consider yourself an angry person, but what we don't realize is that we all go through a life where we feel a sense of injustice due to God not answer our prayers or fulfilling our expectations. What this creates is a slow burn kind of anger that goes unnoticed. Instead of addressing it directly, we distract ourselves and develop coping mechanisms that stop us from resolving the root issue. Listen in to this interview with Jamie Winship as we tackle the very real problem of anger and how we can create peace in our lives in such a way that increases our ability to receive from God. Anger and Hate Are Rooted in Fear, The Cure is Found In LOVE...Friends, I'm prepping and traveling this week for another speaking engagement, so I'm handing the mic over to my great friend and guest host, Julian Adorney. You may remember Julian from previous guest appearances on the DTH podcast. He is a writer, speaker and founder of the Heal the West, substack movement. Julian recently sat down for an insightful conversation with conflict resolution expert, Jamie Winship. Jamie has spent decades working in some of the most conflicted areas of the world, helping people and organizations resolve disputes in ways that go far beyond surface-level fixes. His approach focuses on understanding true identity, addressing fear and anger, and, most importantly, using love as a transformative force. In this conversation, Jamie and Julian explore what it means to engage in conflict with vulnerability and honesty, and why demonstrating love—even to those we perceive as our enemies—can lead to real change. They dive deep into how fear and anger are often secondary emotions, rooted in deeper issues, and how addressing those fears is the first step toward reconciliation. Julian did an incredible job guiding this conversation, and I think you'll find a lot of value in what Jamie has to say, whether you're navigating personal conflict or grappling with the larger divides in society today. Julian, thank you for stepping in and hosting this one. I know it's going to resonate with our DTH audience."TakeawaysConflict resolution begins with understanding true identity.Fear and anger are secondary emotions rooted in deeper issues.Love is the only thing that can take away fear.Humans respond to love and kindness, even from their enemies.Vulnerability is essential for honest communication.Demonstrating love can lead to transformative change.People often don't know how to articulate their fears. The first step in conflict resolution is addressing fear.Winning hearts is more effective than winning arguments.Everyone has the capacity to love and resolve conflicts. In this quick-hitter solo episode, Lex paints a picture of the current era of marketing — one that's full of momentary trends and viral moments — and why jumping aboard every one of these may not make sense for your brand. As a brand marketer herself, Lex is all about moments that show a bit of personality and make your brand feel relatable — but she warns that sometimes, jumping on trends may actually hurt your brand's reputation. The biggest takeaway? There's a time and a place for a good meme, but pursuing a moment of virality rather than a lasting relationship is kind of missing the whole point of "brand."Chapters:00:00 - Podcast intro04:00 - Jumping on trends: When you're too late to the party08:44 - Real examples of brands chasing viral moments15:54 - Closing thoughts: Lasting relationships over fleeting trendsExplore all our episodes and catch the full video experience at loxo.co/podcastBecoming a Hiring Machine is brought to you by Loxo. In this conversation, Jamie Winship talks about the importance of finding true identity in God and community, rather than in individual performance or achievement. We discuss how fear and shame can lead to false identities, and how addressing the root causes of these negative emotions through prayer and imagination can help people find freedom and peace. We talk through how true identity and addressing the real fear we have can help untie the knots of conflicts and bring needed peace. We touch on the role of group identities, the dangers of radical individualism, and how addressing injustice and restoring what has been stolen can help overcome depression and other mental health challenges. Join us and walk in your true identity. Jamie Winship has decades of experience bringing peaceful solutions to some of the world's highest conflict areas. After a distinguished career in law enforcement in the metro Washington DC area, Jamie earned an MA in English and developed a unique process called the Identity Method. This process of identity transformation is the key to resolving inner conflict and acquiring new levels of learning and creativity. His unconventional efforts to bring about societal and racial reconciliation led him to Indonesia, Jordan, Iraq, Palestine, Israel and back to the U.S. Jamie has worked with leaders in professional sports, business, education, law enforcement, government, non-profit, and other sectors. The more you walk with Him the deeper you understand yourself, and the more you love your neighbor. When your job, your role, or your responsibilities become more important than your identity, you lose yourself. So how do you stay connected to who God made you? “Identity is not the name of our religion.” - Jamie Winship joins us for a conversation all about identity. He is breaking through false identity + guides us through understanding what is true and how we can experience that truth.
