Dale Hanson is a highly decorated Vietnam War veteran and Green Beret who served three years as a commando in the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG), conducting extremely dangerous reconnaissance missions deep behind enemy lines. Born in Queens, New York, and raised in Saco, Maine, with family ties to Minnesota's harsh winters, Hanson was influenced by his family's military legacy—his father, born in 1894, served and died when Dale was eight. Given the name "Kam Baw Ya Chin," meaning 'eternal life, never die,' by his Chinese mercenary counterparts, he led recon teams facing high casualty rates and earned numerous decorations. Hanson is also an accomplished sculptor, MENSA member, black belt martial artist, author, pilot of fixed-wing and glider aircraft (including aerobatics), and Special Forces underwater diver. He shares his experiences through his memoir Born Twice: Memoir of a Special Forces SOG Warrior (2016) and SOG Missions to the Well, highlighting the challenges, heroism, and lack of recognition for SOG soldiers. Diesmal entführt Anno und ins antike Rom, ein Setting welches ich persönlich sehr gerne mag. Die tolle Grafik und Detailverliebtheit unterstreichen dieses noch. Spielerisch fühle ich also Anno-Veteran mich direkt wohl und kann mir auch nur die Neuheiten erklären lassen. Also heißt es direkt losgespielt und stunden später erwische ich mich dabei, dass ich gar kein Zeitgefühl mehr habe, weil der alte Sog mich direkt gepackt hat. Die Wirtschaftskreisläufe und Wirtschaftsketten sind dabei grandios und vielfältig. Das Interface zeigt einem direkt, was man wofür benötigt, toll! Dabei gibt es als Neuheit jetzt die Wahl zwischen unterschiedlichen Ressourcen zur Erfüllung der Bedürfnisse. Eben so können wir das Startgebiet wählen, es gibt Latium und Albion, auch das lässt einem mehr Freiheit. Waren und Dienstleistungen haben jetzt Flächeneffekte, welche nicht zu unterschätzen sind und beim Bauen bedacht werden sollten. Das wirkt ziemlich realistisch. Als neue Ressource gibt es Glauben, welcher unsere Gunst bei den römischen Göttern erhöht und uns Vorteile verschafft. Mit Wissen schalte ich im Forschungsbaum Boni frei. Einziges Manko ist die Story-Kampagne, welche stark anfängt aber dann ziemlich abrupt endet, ohne überhaupt alle Mechaniken erklärt zu haben. Ansonsten schafft es Anno 117 eine grandiose Mischung aus Gewohntem und neuen Mechaniken und Freiheiten zu schaffen.

“Tron: Ares” ist ein Film, den man trotz aller Schwächen gesehen haben sollte und zwar im Kino. Denn was Regisseur Joachim Rønning hier visuell entwirft, ist keine bloße Science Fiction, sondern ein ästhetisches Erlebnis aus Licht, Bewegung und Sound. Die Rückkehr ins “Grid”, diese ikonische, künstlich leuchtende Welt aus Neon und Dunkelheit, gelingt auf eine Weise, die zugleich vertraut und radikal modern wirkt. Der Film entfaltet auf der großen Leinwand eine Energie, die man in Zeiten formelhaft gestreamter Actionfilme kaum noch erlebt. Das ist die große Stärke von “Tron: Ares”. Dieser Film glaubt noch an das Kino.Doch so sehr das Auge verwöhnt wird, so wenig Futter bekommt der Kopf. Die Handlung wirkt oft fahrig, die Dialoge sind stellenweise schlicht und die Figuren bleiben seltsam flach. Man versteht, was sie tun, aber nicht immer, warum sie es tun. Es fehlt an innerer Notwendigkeit und an emotionaler Tiefe.Was “Tron: Ares” dennoch rettet, ist seine kompromisslose Sinnlichkeit. Der Film ist ein Fest für die Sinne. Die Kameraarbeit hypnotisiert, der Soundtrack von Nine Inch Nails schiebt sich wie ein dunkler Strom durch jede Szene und die Lichtarchitektur ist präzise komponiert. Gerade in den ruhigeren Passagen entfaltet sich ein melancholischer Sog, der an das ursprüngliche Versprechen des “Tron”-Universums erinnert, an die Sehnsucht nach der Verschmelzung von Mensch und Maschine.Trotz erzählerischer Schwächen bleibt “Tron: Ares” also ein Film, den man nicht einfach abtun kann. Er stolpert, aber er stolpert nach vorn. In einer Zeit, in der viele Blockbuster in kalkuliertem Zynismus erstarren, wagt dieser Film Pathos, Farbe und Vision. Vielleicht ist das sein größter Verdienst. Er erinnert daran, dass Kino mehr sein kann als nur ein Produkt. Nämlich Rausch und Idee zugleich. “Tron: Ares” ist kein perfekter Film, aber ein schöner Beweis dafür, dass Perfektion manchmal gar nicht das Ziel sein sollte. Bývalý velitel elitních speciálních sil SOG Lumír Němec patří k nejzkušenějším českým vojákům, kteří prošli přímými bojovými operacemi v Iráku a Afghánistánu. V rozhovoru pro podcast Men's Factor vzpomíná nejen na vznik legendárního útvaru, ale i na tvrdý návrat do civilního života.„Kdo říká, že ve válce neměl strach, lže. Každý se bojí, jde jen o to, jak to dokážeš potlačit a jet podle nacvičených drillů,“ popisuje Němec první střety v Afghánistánu. Jednotka SOG, složená z vojáků, policistů a zpravodajců, byla podle něj unikátní – uměla bojovat i působit v operativě. „Dnes tady není útvar s takovým záběrem, jaký měl SOG,“ dodává.Návrat do civilu popisuje jako šok. „Potřeboval jsem zaplatit složenky a alimenty. Jenže když jsem přišel do firmy a řekl, co umím – střílet, řídit tank a skákat padákem – tak se mě zeptali, jak tím budu přínosem. Moje první práce byla ve Všenorech. Hledal jsem černé skládky. Před třemi lety se nás bál celý Helmand, a já se ocitl v lese s ledničkou,“ vzpomíná.
