*Founding Members exclusive* Ronald Reagan takes his biggest leap yet: from Hollywood star and California governor to the White House. In this episode, Katty Kay and Anthony Scaramucci chart Reagan's bruising campaign against Jimmy Carter, a landslide victory that redefined American politics, and the near-fatal assassination attempt that almost ended his presidency before it began. With his approval ratings soaring, Reagan rolls out his bold economic experiment — Reaganomics. Sweeping tax cuts, deregulation, and a dramatic showdown with striking air traffic controllers set the tone for a new conservative era. But behind the optimism and patriotic rhetoric lay recession, soaring unemployment, and a country still reeling from the turmoil of the 1970s. How did Reagan's first years in power ignite a political revolution, and what price did America pay for it? Wellness isn’t just kale smoothies and yoga classes anymore. It’s mushrooms as brain boosters, IV drips for recovery, tinctures, biohacking, and more. These trends aren’t fringe, they’re big business, generating $1.8 trillion in U.S. sales alone in 2024. And they’re on the move in Acadiana too. Christiaan's guests on this edition of Out to Lunch are building businesses in Acadiana riding these same waves — functional mushrooms, hydration therapies, supplements, biohacking — they all are part of wellness, and more than a buzzword. Daisy Kerne is co-founder of All Caps Gourmet Mushrooms, founded in 2019 with Michael Campbell. Daisy’s from Loreauville, Louisiana, though she moved back and forth between there and Lafayette during her youth. Daisy studied plant science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and balances her time between her mushroom business, doing food demos, and nutrition counseling for cardiac rehab patients. As a single parent, she managed multiple gigs while homeschooling, and when Michael asked, “Hey, do you want to grow mushrooms?”, she took a leap. Their current operations include fresh mushrooms, tinctures, seasoning blends, workshops, and growing kits. DeAnna Smith is founder of Dripsy IV Bar. DeAnna is originally from Pineville, Louisiana, holds a business administration & marketing degree, then became an RN after an accident involving an 18-wheeler changed her perspective. She started doing IV hydration on weekends while working as an insurance case nurse. Deanna gradually built a waitlist for IV treatments, and in 2024 opened the first brick-and-mortar Dripsy IV Bar in Alexandria. That’s Dripsy…as in “everybody in the club getting dripsy.” Since then, Dripsy has grown to three new locations, including adding outposts in Lafayette and Lake Charles in 2025. Dripsy offers IV drips, weight loss options, shots, telehealth, peptide treatments, and biohacking services. Out to Lunch Acadiana was recorded live over lunch at Tsunami Sushi in downtown Lafayette. This week, meet Corinne, a teen who makes "Final Destination" look like a chill day out. After a car packed like a clown car met a tree at high speed, she was launched out the window (note to self: wear your seatbelt, kids ), broke a laundry list of bones, and then casually had a stroke in the ambulance for an encore. The paramedic? Looked "terrified". Corinne spills on surviving the unsurvivable, relearning to talk (with a little help from Taylor Swift ) at the amazing IWK Health Centre, and why graduating high school is her biggest flex – mostly because she's "done with science and math". It's a story of insane resilience and why you should support the IWK Telethon. For more info on the IWK Telethon. You can watch this entire episode over on YouTube.Follow Sickboy: Instagram,Tiktok & Discord.

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit rethinkingwellness.substack.comHealth-misinformation researcher and science communicator Timothy Caulfield returns to discuss his new book THE CERTAINTY ILLUSION, why being too certain about anything makes us vulnerable to misinformation, how intellectual humility can help protect us, why science is sometimes “full of shit” and how to be a critical consumer of it, and more. Behind the paywall, we get into why it's so hard for public figures to show intellectual humility, whether being smart makes people less intellectually humble and more vulnerable to misinformation, the role of narcissism in misinformation belief, the Dunning-Kruger effect, and why so many researchers lie about their work. Plus, Christy asks Tim for advice on how to navigate an alternative-medicine recommendation for IVF, and whether refusing to do it is a hill she wants to die on.Paid subscribers can hear the full interview, and the first half is available to all listeners. Pathfinder Church | September 22, 2024 | Dion GarrettPlanted deep within all humans is a desire to live forever because that's what we were created to do! But ever since we were thrown out of the Garden, we've had to face the unkind reality of death—something that we know is inevitable, but nevertheless feels unnatural. As technological advances have reignited the possibility that we might be able to cheat death, should we buy into the promises that with enough advancement, we'll never have to say goodbye to our loved ones??Website | https://pathfinderstl.orgOnline Giving | https://pathfinderstl.org/givePodcasts | https://pathfinderstl.org/podcastsFacebook | https://facebook.com/pathfinderstlInstagram | https://instagram.com/pathfinderstlSt. John School | https://stjls.orgContact Us | churchinfo@pathfinderstl.org

Five days before the attempted assassination of President Trump, I sat down with Kenneth Valentine, three-time presidential secret service agent and author of "Cheating Death". Ken and I quite forbiddingly discussed when 'Murphy comes and visits the operation". We discussed the importance of standards and the importance of having a mindset of "direction over perfection". Ken and I discussed faith, and the journey of having a relationship with God. We discussed "wound care" and leadership and how we navigate this thing called life. Since the assassination attempt Ken has been sought after to provide insight and commentary of the incident, all of which he has done quite admirably. Sit back and give this episode a listen and walk away better for it, God Bless, Johnwww.kennethvalentine.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/kenneth-valentine-441922138/overlay/contact-info/“Cheating Death” includes stories and lessons learned protecting three sitting presidents at the White House and on travels around the world. Serious business goes better with a healthy sense of humor. I absolutely loved all 24 years with the Secret Service. Now I serve in the banking industry with corporate security and operational risk assignments. On the side, I am passionate about the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, and The WellHouse, serving on the board of directors for both. Speaking engagements come with the published book deal and I have enjoyed these opportunities as well. #leadership #speaker #author #security #motivationalSHOW SPONSOR - ON TARGET CLAIMSThis episode is being brought to you by "On Target Claims" - From Setback to Settlement On Target Claims is a team of certified and experienced Public Adjusters in Florida who have helped thousands of insured get the maximum amount for their residential, commercial, wind, water, fire, hurricane, mold, yacht and marine claims. We have the knowledge and experience to properly investigate all potential damages including all of the hidden damages that may not be obvious to the untrained eye. On this week's episode of the Escape Your Limits podcast, we are joined by Dr. Rand McCain, aka ‘The Longevity Doctor' to explore whether death is predetermined by genetics or whether we can make informed lifestyle choices that extend health span and override the influence of our genes. Dr. McClain earned his medical degree at Western University and completed his internship at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine Residency Program (U.S.C. California Hospital) and has spent his professional life redefining what it means to be in optimal health. Having established his own practice, Regenerative and Sports Medicine Dr. McClain supports his patients (many of which are A-List celebrities and world-class athletes) through the application of cutting edge treatments and philosophies including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cryotherapy, platelet rich plasma and stem cell therapies. In his recent book, ‘Cheating Death: The New Science of Living Longer and Better', Dr. McClain reveals fresh, science-backed approach to genetics, natural aging, and proactive medical treatments and discusses how to access to these therapies to jumpstart their body's regenerative processes. In this episode, Maria Paz Gutiérrez does battle against the one absolute truth of human existence and all life… death. After getting a team of scientists to stand in for death (the grim reaper wasn't available), we parry and thrust our way through the myriad ways that death comes for us - from falling pianos to evolution's disinterest in longevity. In the process, we see if we can find a satisfying answer to the question “why do we have to die” and find ourselves face to face with the bitter end of everything that ever existed.Special thanks to Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, Steven Nadler, Beth Jarosz, Anjana Badrinarayanan, Shaon Chakrabarti, Bob Horvitz, John K.
