Den 15. januar 2021 satte vi os ned ved hver vores mikrofon og trykkede record. Det var under den helt store Coronanedlukning, så vi sad ikke engang i samme lokale, men resultatet blev pilotafsnittet af Noget Ved Musikken. Nu skriver vi maj 2025, og vi er nået til afsnit 200! Det er jo nærmest ubegribeligt, at vi har lavet så mange afsnit, og derfor har vi da også tænkt os at fejre det på behørig vis - nemlig ved at lave endnu en af vores 80'er Remix specials. Denne gang gør vi det ved hjælp af en lille filmleg vi altid hyggede os med i seminariedagene, Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Det gælder om at linke forskellige filmfolk og så til sidst nå til Kevin Bacon, men i denne her udgave er legen blevet omdøbt til 20 Degrees of Andy Tennant. Vi prøver nemlig at linke Fleetwood Mac til Andy Tennant, og vi har ”kun” 20 sange til at løse den opgave. Det giver os så til gengæld masser af fantastiske 80'er remix fra store kunstnere som f.eks. Neneh Cherry, Depeche Mode, Erasure, TV-2, Lis Sørensen, Yazoo, Lisa Stansfield og Huey Lewis & The News. Derudover snakker vi om en legendarisk manager som selv fik gang i en musikkarriere i 1983, vi breaker firkantede nyheder med 40 års forsinkelse, Andy praler af sine breakdanceevner sammen med Lars Ranthe, vi mindes den gamle 80'er actionklassiker F/X med Bryan Brown i hovedrollen, vi undrer os over, hvem der bliver ved med at ringe til Dave Gahan mens han kører bil, vi afslører hvilken kendt dansk radiovært der i 1989 var med til at remixe en vaskeægte rapdronning, og så er det endnu engang blevet tid til at få en skarp 80'er-inspireret klipning af vores yndlingsfrisør, salon Coldcut. Til sidst i afsnittet kan I i øvrigt få en lille auditiv smagsprøve på det nye eksklusive afsnit, specielt til vores støtter på 10'er. Como ya he contado en el podcast “80s SynthPop 1” el gran reinado del SynthPop como género “puro” fue durante la primera mitad de los 80s, pero durante el resto de la década surgieron muchos grupos de pop electrónico muy influenciados por estos sonidos, como los Pet Shop Boys (sus principales influencias eran el SynthPop y el HI-NRG procedente de New York), Bronski Beat, Erasure (cuya mitad del dúo es Vince Clarke uno de los fundadores de Depeche Mode), llegaron artistas de otros países, principalmente Alemania (Camouflage, Propaganda, Alphaville), y artistas consagrados como Freddie Mercury, quien publicó varios singles de éxito a mediados de década puramente synthpop. Durante la segunda mitad de los 80s la mayoría de grupos estrella del género habían desaparecido o continuaban en activo con poco éxito, Depeche Mode fue acercándose a los sonidos electrónicos procedentes de Alemania y Bélgica y publicando sus mejores álbumes y triunfando en los US, New Order supo sobrevivir publicando grandes singles bailables, O.M.D. cada vez sonaban más pop, muy alejados de los sonidos de sus comienzos. Durante la segunda mitad fue la llegada “masiva” del House, el New Beat, el EBM, el pop electrónico tuvo que cambiar para poder sobrevivir, haciéndose más duro, bailable y acido. Все конечно же знают эту композицию с альбома "Music for the Masses" (1987), который привёл к всплеску популярности Depeche Mode в США. Композиции «Strangelove», «Never Let Me Down Again», «Behind the Wheel» и «Little 15» стали мировыми хитами. В поддержку альбома группа отправилась в гастрольный тур For The Masses, который стал одним из самых больших и успешных туров Depeche Mode. Выступление в Пасадене (Калифорния) в 1988 году было отснято и выпущено в качестве видеоконцерта, под названием 101. Ну и по традиции несколько слов о технической кухне, в работе были задействованы программные vst-синтезаторы: Sytrus и Morphine (штатные синты FL Studio 20). Акапелла была скачана из интернета. The Album: Depeche Mode: Violator (1990) By the time Depeche Mode released Violator in 1990, they had already become one of the giants of the modern rock world but Violator took the group to new heights of global success. Dark and moody yet intimately dance-able, the group and their album marked a height of synth-pop’s growth across the 1980s, a zenith that would soon be eclipsed by the on-rush of grunge and competing forms of so-called “alternative” rock. Violator was the pick of guest Hua Hsu, staff writer at the New Yorker and English professor at Vassar College. For him, Violator was part of a soundscape of growing up in the Bay Area, least of all as an Asian American. As he and Oliver (flying solo this week) discuss, modern rock became a soundtrack for a generation of Asian American youth, at least those growing up in West Coast suburbs for whom songs centered on alienation and otherness felt all too familiar. Besides, as Hsu notes, we all had piano lessons so a music built around synthesizers was an easy sell.
