Il Southern Gothic di Flannery O'Connor, attivo fino agli anni ‘60, univa il degrado rurale degli Stati Uniti a una teologia spietata, dove il grottesco e la violenza diventavano strumenti di redenzione. Opere fondamentali come La saggezza nel sangue o la raccolta Un brav'uomo è difficile da trovare hanno scavato nella coscienza americana. “Alphaville” con i suoi ospiti ha esplorato questa dimensione partendo dalla raccolta di saggi, curata da Benedetta Centovalli, Il cielo e la polvere. Visioni e universi di Flannery O'Connor.“Moby Dick” riparte proprio dai temi e dalla scrittura della scrittrice statunitense per spingere avanti la riflessione guardando all'oggi, con tre ospiti in diretta. Gli scrittori Omar Di Monopoli, che nel 2017 ha pubblicato per Adelphi il noir Nella perfida terra di Dio, tradotto all'estero, trasposto in fumetto per Sergio Bonelli editore.Insegna scrittura creativa per la Scuola Holden. Scrive per la radio e per il cinema, e collabora con “La Stampa”, “Il Fatto Quotidiano” e “Rolling Stone Italia”. Omar Di Monopoli è un grande appassionato di Flannery O'Connor e può essere considerato un autore che trova nel suo stile una fonte di ispirazione. Con lui un altro scrittore, Orazio Labbate, autore e critico letterario siciliano, riconosciuto dalla critica come il fondatore del “gotico siciliano”. Nei suoi romanzi fonde le atmosfere oscure del gotico americano (sul modello di Cormac McCarthy e Stephen King) con il folklore, la polvere e il misticismo della Sicilia. Insieme a loro il critico e professore universitario Marco Petrelli, che insegna presso l'Università di Pisa e si occupa da tempo di letterature e culture del Sud statunitense, gotico americano, postmodernismo, geocritica, graphic narratives e letteratura afroamericana.

i denne udgave får du globale hits, som ikke kommer fra UK/US, hvor de fleste hits normalt kommer fra. Sejrstimen har jo ikke just været en 'hit parade' igennem de over 200 programmer (bevidst;). Men nogle få temaer har dog alligevel fokuseret på hits med en særlig vinkel. Således også i dette nye "Hits from non-English artists". De engelsk talende nationer har jo i meget høj grad domineret pop og rock musikken siden Elvis og Beatles, hvilket selvfølgelig skyldes sproget og den kulturelle status i verden men også et meget stort antal kunstnere. Dette tema vil derimod give plads til en del af de navne, der ikke kom fra hhv. Storbritannien, USA, Australien og Canada, men som alligevel slog igennem med et eller flere hits på de britiske og amerikanske hitlister. De fleste af dem sang dog stadig på engelsk og det må generelt siges at være den afgørende adgangs billet. Men der er faktisk nogle eksempler på, at en sang på artistens eget sprog er gået helt til tops i England og/eller USA. Dog skal det også bemærkes, at der naturligvis er store dele af verden, hvor sange bliver et hit for millioner uden at de kendes eller opdages i Vesten. Selvfølgelig jo Asien, Afrika, Sydamerika, Mellemøsten og til dels Sydeuropa. Listen kunne sagtens rumme flere andre sange, men som altid er det mine helt subjektive valg og delvise favoritter. Derfor vil der være et overtal af hits fra 70'erne og 80'erne men dog eksempler fra det nye årtusinde, især danske. Pluripremiate e pluritradotte, le scrittrici ispano-americane si impongono per la prima volta sulla scena internazionale con romanzi e racconti brevi che, seppur nella diversità degli stili e delle genealogie culturali e geopolitiche, condividono eccellenza letteraria, denuncia sociale e, appunto, impegno femminista.Nel corso della settimana, nel “dossier di Alphaville” ci siamo concentrati in particolare su quelle autrici che usano la chiave del fantastico, del weird o dello spettrale per rappresentare la violenza. Dalla violenza di Stato delle dittature del Cono Sur al machismo e ai femminicidi, dall'estrattivismo coloniale che devasta ecosistemi ambientali e sociali all'immagine dello “stupro della donna india”, ferita originaria da cui discendono tutte le ingiustizie e gli abusi della regione, secondo il Femminismo bastardo dell'attivista, scrittrice e performer boliviana María Galindo, una delle voci più incendiarie del femminismo latino-americano contemporaneo.In realtà «ci siamo sempre state, ora ci vedono», ricorda la scrittrice argentina Gabriela Gaidon, anche se alcuni eventi della storia recente – su tutti: la nascita nel 2015 in Argentina del movimento Ni una menos, mutuando un verso della poetessa e attivista messicana Susana Chávez, morta per femminicidio – hanno funto da catalizzatore e detonatore per il successo internazionale.A partire da questo nuovo “boom” della narrativa latino-americana, dove questa volta protagoniste sono le donne, cercheremo di comprendere come la parola letteraria, l'artivismo e i movimenti femminismi latini siano oggi uno spazio politico e poetico in cui resistere e denunciare, ma anche dove ricucire le ferite, attraverso la cura, l'intreccio, la riparazione. Lo faremo con la professoressa Emilia Perassi, fra le più autorevoli e fini studiose italiane di letterature ispano-americane di testimonianza e diritti umani, e con l'antropologa sociale Laura Fano Morisey, autrice di Per una politica della dignità. Femminismi, migrazioni e colonialità in America latina (Capovolte, 2023).

In the mid-60s his mind turned to science fiction and the result was a visually striking, choatic film about a dystopian world in which logic rules and love is punished. If you find the film confusing you are not alone and I have two brilliant academic brains to help us out. Roger Luckhurst is a Professor at Birkbeck, University of London. He has written/edited numerous articles and books on cultural history and film. Douglas Morrey is an associate professor of French at the University of Warwick. He has a special interest in the French new Wave on which he has written extensively, including the 2005 book Jean-Luc Godard. He is a social historian who is currently researching the the social history of Britain since the 1960s through the lens of Doctor Who.
