• Se anunció una inversión significativa de Unilever en México por un total de 30 mil millones de pesos a implementarse entre 2025 y 2028. Esta inversión busca incrementar la capacidad productiva, logística y digitalización, y fortalecer marcas icónicas. Una parte fundamental es la puesta en marcha de la planta en Nuevo León con 8 mil millones de pesos, la cual producirá productos de belleza y cuidado personal para México y América Latina, y generará 100 nuevos empleos directos e indirectos, sumándose a los más de 7,000 colaboradores actuales. Unilever ve a México como un mercado principal con inmenso potencial, confiando en su crecimiento y estabilidad.• Se confirmó que las autopartes mexicanas exportadas a Estados Unidos tienen cero aranceles. Esta situación se ha logrado a través de negociaciones continuas con las autoridades comerciales de Estados Unidos y reconoce la profunda integración productiva entre ambos países en la industria automotriz. Se destacó que imponer aranceles a las autopartes afectaría a las propias compañías estadounidenses y no habría manera de sustituir la producción mexicana. El valor de la exportación de autopartes de México es de 70 mil millones de dólares.• Se describió el modelo económico mexicano actual que, a diferencia del pasado centrado en mano de obra barata, se enfoca en el bienestar de la gente, el aumento de salarios (el mínimo se duplicó) y programas sociales para fortalecer el mercado interno. Se promueve la mano de obra calificada (México es el tercer país en número de ingenieros titulados). Los resultados de este modelo incluyen disminución de la pobreza y desigualdades, mayor inversión y mejores condiciones laborales. La estrategia del Plan México busca fortalecer la producción nacional y diversificar horizontes de exportación.• El Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE) presentó su estrategia nacional de fomento a la lectura, orientada a ser una editorial popular con libros a precios muy bajos, como la colección Vientos del Pueblo (11-20 pesos). Han producido 21 millones y vendido 24 millones de libros desde 2019. Se ha expandido la red de distribución con 109 librerías (27 en el extranjero, ahora rentables), mini-librerías en tiendas, participación en ferias, y la operación de Librobuses para llegar a comunidades remotas. Han donado más de 7 millones de libros y registrado 21,118 salas de lectura ciudadanas. Aunque la lectura entre niños ha crecido, el reto principal es recuperar a los adolescentes, usando estrategias de provocación y curiosidad, y buscando utilizar plataformas como TikTok. Se anunció el proyecto "25 para el 25" para regalar 2.5 millones de libros a jóvenes en Latinoamérica.• Se reportó el gran éxito del Tianguis Turístico en Playas de Rosarito, que obtuvo un Record Guinness por mayor asistencia (7,395 personas) a una feria nacional de turismo. Contó con más de 71 mil citas de negocios, de las cuales 50% se concretaron, y generó una derrama económica de 1,380 millones de pesos, con ocupación hotelera superior al 90%. Se destacó el interés de inversión en turismo médico desde Estados Unidos y cómo el turismo es un motor importante para la economía mexicana, con potencial para mejorar su posición global.• Se informó sobre los avances en el fortalecimiento de la Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) bajo el nuevo marco legal, buscando la integración vertical de las empresas públicas energéticas. El programa del sexenio contempla la adición de 25,000 MW de generación eléctrica, gran parte con energías renovables. Se contrastó la situación de México con la de países donde la privatización ha generado problemas técnicos y de tarifas, mencionando el caso de España. this is a conversation with Hugo Crosthwaite and Bread & Salt Curator Thomas DeMello from 2021 Born in Tijuana in 1971, Hugo Crosthwaite grew up in the coastal town of Rosarito, Baja California, 10 miles south of the international border. A graduate of San Diego State University in 1997 with a BA in Applied Arts and Sciences, Crosthwaite is a draftsman, often using pencil or charcoal, who focuses on the figure. He works in a linear fashion, allowing drawings to develop with great detail. All the work is created with improvisation; narratives developing as works are created. 

In this midweek true crime documentary episode, Ky delves into the questionable and violent case of Ike Souzer, a young man with a history of escaping authorities and a troubling past. Ike, who was described as autistic and had a troubled childhood, first made headlines when he brutally stabbed his mother, Barbara Schuer Souzer, in their Garden Grove, California home. Despite being convicted of voluntary manslaughter, Ike's story doesn't end there.While awaiting trial in juvenile court, Ike attacked a corrections officer and escaped, only to be captured the next day. His repeated offenses, including attacking three correctional officers and making a shiv while in custody, apparently weren't enough to keep him behind bars. Judges repeatedly gave him lenient sentences, reducing felony charges to misdemeanors and releasing him early with just an ankle bracelet for monitoring.Despite being labeled as "extremely dangerous" and a "significant threat to public safety," Ike managed to escape again in April 2022 by removing his ankle bracelet. He was eventually found in a homeless encampment in Anaheim, California. In October 2023, he was convicted of making a shiv, but the judge still opted for a lenient sentence, citing the need for reintegration services over prison time.After his final escape to Rosarito, Mexico, and subsequent arrest by Mexican officials, Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer criticized the judges for their leniency, arguing that Ike had turned every opportunity for reform into another chance to break the law. Elliot Blair, 33, and his wife Kim from Orange County, California, traveled to Rosarito, Mexico, to celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary. On the evening of January 13, 2023, after enjoying dinner, drinks, and dancing, the couple returned to their resort. While Kim went to sleep, Elliot took a shower before bed. Shortly afterward, hotel staff woke Kim to inform her that Elliot had died. Mexican authorities concluded that Elliot had been intoxicated and accidentally fell over the railing of the open-air walkway. However, with a blood alcohol level of 0.1, a fall of only 20-25 feet, and 40 fractures to the back of his skull, his family thinks he was murdered. June 6, 1992. Rosarito, Mexico. While vacationing at a beachfront condo, 29-year old Los Angeles resident Mario Amado is arrested by the local police after an alleged altercation with his girlfriend. Shortly thereafter, Mario is found dead inside his jail cell and the police rule that his death was a suicide after he hanged himself with his own sweater. When Mario's brother pushes for a new investigation, his death is eventually reclassified as a homicide and a police officer named Jose Antonio Verduzco Flores is charged and convicted of Mario's murder. However, Verduzco's conviction is soon overturned and he is released from prison and no other suspects are ever charged with the crime.
