Hello and welcome to another exciting episode of "Read with Me Light Novel"! Today, we're diving into all the fantastic details about MomoCon 2024, happening from May 24th to May 27th. Plus, we'll talk about a special contest we're hosting that includes a great prize. MomoCon started from the dedication of a small, passionate group of fans. With a focus on animation, gaming, comics, and costuming, MomoCon aims to bring the best aspects of these fandoms to everyone. Based in Atlanta, they extend Southern Hospitality to all attendees, from curious newcomers to dedicated long-time fans. MomoCon has seen tremendous growth, becoming one of the largest anime conventions in North America, reaching over 10,000 attendees in 2011 alone. This year, MomoCon features an incredible lineup of guests: - **Jodi Benson**, voice of Ariel from "The Little Mermaid". - **Steve Blum**, known for voicing Spike from "Cowboy Bebop" and characters in "Mortal Kombat X and 11". - **Dana Terrace**, the creator of "The Owl House". - **Beau Billingslea**, known for roles like Jet Black in "Cowboy Bebop" and Barrett in "Final Fantasy Advent Children". - **Toru Furuya**, a legendary Japanese voice actor famous for roles in "Sailor Moon", "Dragon Ball", and "One Piece". - **Tony Weaver, Jr.**, the creator of the award-winning manga series "The UnCommons". - **Mark Brooks**, an acclaimed comic illustrator known for his work on "X-Men", "Spider-Man", and "Star Wars". There will also be exciting panels and performances, including: - **BABYBEARD**, featuring LADYBEARD, SUZU, and MAHRI, performing on Saturday. - **Caleb Hyles**, known for his YouTube cover of "Let It Go", with over 1.5 million subscribers. - **The Triforce Quartet**, playing video game music in a traditional string quartet style. - **CARA MCGEE**, an illustrator for companies like Marvel, Comixology, and DC. - **Jason Griffith**, the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog. - **Peter Raymundo**, a character animator for Disney films like "Mulan" and "The Lion King". One of the highlights will be Takuya Suzuki, who will be discussing "GUNDAM: Requiem for Vengeance" on Sunday at 5:30 PM. Now, about the contest! We're giving away a fantastic prize to the lucky listener That will be a random drawing live. From a list of names of people that follow the Apple or Spotify podcast and follow on YouTube or TikTok, and like any video, and comment "done" on that video. The prize will be something from MomoCon, potentially an autographed pop from one or all of the guest of momo con or something even better. I want to see what I can get for my special fans. Russ heads to the movie theater to check out Final Fantasy Advent Children for the first time, and talks about the Remake game coming out. @NESADDICT can't seem to see the hype around Final Fantasy though.
Nearly a decade after FF7's release, an all-CGI action movie comes out just for the fans. Boasting a return of old friends in graphics never even imaginable on Playstation, but is the film good enough to stand on it's own and attract new fans? Learn more about your ad choices. Alright, we have quite the strange little film for you today. A film sequel to the immensely popular video game Final Fanbtasy 7. 3 out 4 of our hosts have found memories of this movie, 1.. less so. 5 points to whoever guess who doesn't! (It's Nick!)
Tell me what you cherish most, so that I may take it away... Was it Shahir Daud? That might explain his absence... ;) With the recent release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Matt & returning guest Host Jessica Tucker thought it was the perfect time to not dilly dally or shilly shally and revisit the "best" of the Final Fantasy films. But will this tangled nightmare of disjointed story point be too much for Jess's first foray into the universe of FF7? Or does she help Matt realize that the emotional resonance he has for this story is based on shared psychological trauma much like that of an Ex-Soldier who's past is not his own? Well strap on your Burster Sword and hug your Moogle tight... because your in for one heluva odd and emotional conversation. Anime Month is here!!! So we start this month off with a movie that was made into countless AMV on Youtube between 2005 and 2010. A movie where you only cared about the last 20 minutes. A movie where if the Sephiroth did show up, people were gonna riot. This is a movie that Square wanted to make because they didn't want to make the game. Advent Children! Our buddy Denzel (@ChivalrousNerd) joins us and we have a good ol'time. Movie Menu Rants about VideoGame Adaptations Rant: Why do all videogame film adaptations suck? Will their be a good one in the future? Hosted by: Alexander Z, Dan "The Man" Muñoz, and Mike Stand Notes: For many decades… many studios have tried to do the impossible. To make movies based on videos games good. So far, none have really reached its potential. I mean, there are some that are decent or good, however not great. But! There is hope, with WARCRAFT directed by MOON director, Duncan Jones which comes out 2016 and stars Ben Foster, Tobey Kebbell and a slew of incredible actors. Does that mean WARCRAFT is our last hope? Well like Yoda said... “No, There is another” with Michael Fassbender’s Assassins Creed, but we are going to have to wait for that one because it just got pushed back to an unknown date. I still have hope that it can potentially be an entertaining and bad ass adaptation, but it being pushed back doesn’t show much. I’m gonna be in denial and say that they are perfecting it. Either way we won’t know how these films are until these movies are released. Until then, lets rant about the ones that have been out and have sucked beyond sucked. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the highest rating a movie based on a video game has gotten, was 44% and that was Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, which as you remember, was a CGI Animated film, which it’s easy to talk about animated video game movies, just look at Street Fighter 2 and Final Fantasy Advent Children, those movies are amazing, so this RANT is strictly about LIVE ACTION video game movies. Now, obviously, some people enjoy video game movies. The Resident Evil Franchise has done pretty well for itself having made 5 movies with a 6th one on the way. And there are some franchises that should have never been made.. I’m looking at you BloodRayne! Damn you Uwe Boll you son of a bitch. Do you guys have a movie based on a video game that you enjoy? Mortal Kombat is probably one of my favorites. Its silly, and though it is PG-13 while the game would be MA, still does a good job telling the story, much better than its counterpart of the live action Street Fighter. That was a piece of shit. The first video game movie was Super Mario Bros. Though, as kids we all loved it… it really screwed everything up about what we loved about Mario Bros. With the mushroom kingdom as this post whatever that was city. Goombas that weren’t Goombas, Yoshi, and everything else. However, it was still a fun fuck up of a movie. I sometimes wonder if they would have done Super Mario Bros. justice, that the trend of video game movies would have been a lot better. Let us compare this to the age of comic book movies, where comic book movies were shit until finally someone decided to make a good one, people argue that Blade started this and others say X-Men did, either way, look at the age we are in… where comic book movies reign over all. We just need that one major hit.. and studios will take notice and you know Disney will make their own video gaming movie studio and take video games adaptations seriously. What are some of your.. to put it nicely… worst adaptations of video games? Is there a video game or game franchise you hope to see on the big screen anytime soon? Well… though we can enjoy some of the video game adaptations, the fact is, none of these can be taken seriously. Until, one studio decides that there is potential big money to do a great adaptation and make the new age of video game movies, we have to deal with what we have been given. Hopefully… the future is bright. We will just have to wait and see.
We go over the Blu-Ray/DVD top 10 and review Men in Black 3, Seeking a Friend for the end of the World, Killer Joe and Joyful Noise. The DVD alternative is Final Fantasy Advent Children
