In Alaska, amongst rolling snowstorms, the town of Barrow enters their month-long night. Only a fraction of the town stays to stick it out. Soon, a stranger (Ben Foster) arrives and creates havoc – especially with the town's ability to communicate. If this wasn't enough, a bunch of vampires in suits show up and just destroy everyone! Sheriff Eben Oleson (Josh Hartnett) and the fire marshal, Stella (Melissa George), round up a handful of survivors in an attempt to hide throughout the town to survive until the sun rises again. Also, Beau Brower (Mark Boone Junior) goes on a much-needed vampire kill-spree. RTS makes the best of this end of winter month of darkness by watching a film about a month of darkness. Very meta! Jeremy and Collin throw a bunch of these blood-sucking demons into a metal masher. La-Mar asks a nice vampire child for a bag of chips at the general store. He gets them! Sometimes, you just have to ask nicely. Nemo and Rami go the old-fashioned route and simply explode vampire heads. That is VERY effective! Eat your can of cherries and stay warm tonight. Nighty night. Don't let the vampires bite.

It was GOALS GALORE in the Premier League this weekend!! On the Football Fill-In today we have Ben Foster, Darren Bent, Dave Watson and Tom Ochoa as we talk about this weekend of fixtures! Our first game starts off with the Super Sunday match, which was Liverpool vs Manchester City. What is going on at City and is Pep losing the plot? We discuss all on this game and how it's now Liverpools title to lose… Moving on, Chelsea beat Villa 3-0 in a convincing win, we had a look at their upcoming fixtures and it looks good for them, could they push for a title charge?! West Ham vs Arsenal saw seven goals in the first half which could lead to worrying times for West Ham and Julen Lopetegui. Manchester United are off the mark with their first win in the PL under Ruben Amorim with a 4-0 victory over Everton, with one manager coming in, will one manager be coming out in the name of Sean Dyche? We also discuss Marcus Rashford going to the USA and how good Amad Diallo was! Looking at the game in the midlands, we head to Wolves in a thrilling 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth. Wolves gave away three penalties which could all have been avoided, but in doing so, Bournemouth broke two Premier League records with Evanilson being the first to win a hat-tick of penalties and Justin Kluivert the first to score a hat-trick of penalties! Brentford's AMAZING home record continues with a 4-1 win over Leicester as Ruud van Nistelrooy watches in the stands with the owners. Kevin Schade scores a hat-tick and he is the 2nd Brentford player to score a PL hat-tick with the first being Ivan Toney! Staying in London, Spurs hosted Fulham as they drew 1-1, which leads to Spurs fans being frustrated with the lack of consistency with results. Crystal Palace host Newcastle, and Palace were dominant and deserved a point going right to the final whistle. A potential worrying time for Newcastle as they only managed 1 shot the whole game with 0 being on target. Isak also comes off injured too which doesn't look good for the Magpies. Moving to the final two games, Brighton hosted Southampton on Friday night, which caused a divide in opinion in the studio today with that Adam Armstrong offside. Do you think the goal should have counted? Finally, Forest beat Ipswich 1-0 with a Chris Wood penalty taking them to 6th in the table! Learn more about your ad choices. This week on the Football Fill-In we have Ben Foster, Darren Bent, Dave Watson and Tom Ochoa on the show! We have also spruced up our set so we hope you all like it! The first game this week was Leicester vs Chelsea with Enzo Maresca going back to his old club, but the big talking point was Steve Cooper being sacked from Leicester. Who's going to replace him? Speaking of managers, Ruben Amorim had his first game against newly promoted Ipswich, but it wasn't the start that they hope for! Moving to the other Manchester Club, Man City signed Pep Guardiola on another 2 year contact but that wasn't enough to stop spurs as they thrashed City 4-0 away from home! Cunha stars for Wolves as they win 4-1 vs Fulham, giving Wolves back to back wins in the Premier League! Arsenal shine as Odegaard returns in 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest. Bens former Watford teammate Joao Pedro was involved for two goals for Brighton as they get a 2-1 win over Bournemouth! Will Brighton make it into the Champions League spots? Speaking of Bens former teammates, Ismaïla Sarr scores his first PL goal in over three years as Palace get a draw against Aston Villa! The final draw of the weekend was Everton vs Brentford which finished 0-0. Will Brentford improve that away record? The final fixture we talked about was Southampton vs Liverpool, in a game where people thought Liverpool were going to run riot, Southampton showed their strength but Salahs penalty was enough for them to get the three points as they sit top of the table. The Football Fill-In has got a great line-up this week with Ben Foster, Dave Watson, Ben Tozer and former Leeds Legend, Stuart Dallas! On today's Premier League show we talk about Brighton's INCREDIBLE 2-1 win over Manchester City and the talks around if City will retain their title this season after a FOURTH defeat in a row! We then move on to Liverpool with Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah's goals seeing off Aston Villa, putting them at the top of the table going into the international break. The London Derby between Chelsea and Arsenal ended 1-1, but the Gunners could have nicked it at the end through Leandro Trossard. Staying in West London, Brentford's home form continued as they saw off AFC Bournemouth 3-2 in an entertaining spectacle that saw Yoanne Wissa bag another two! We had a MASSIVE shock down at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Ipswich stunning Spurs with a 2-1 win which is their first win of the season! Looking at the other two London clubs at home this weekend, we had Palace vs Fulham where there are now questions about Oliver Glasner's future at the club, but will their form improve with their injury list building? West Ham drew 0-0 against Everton, with both GK's showing great performances here and we have our two GKs analyse their performance on the show. Ruud van Nistelrooy got another win to end his short reign in charge at Manchester United versus Leicester, but has recently been confirmed (after the show) that he has left the Red Devils, was this a good decision from the club? Newcastle beat the Nottingham Forest 3-1 away from home with players like goals from Alexander Isak, Joelinton and Harvey Barnes shining. Finally, Wolves beat Southampton 2-0 at home, which could be a job saver for Gary O'Neil.... PopaHALLics #128 "Four on the Floor"Our podcast is four years old! We celebrate with a funny, more-or-less-true movie about profanity-laced letters, an animated noir Batman, an Alice Hoffman novel about the power of reading, and an influential "sensation" novel first published in 1859-60. Once again, we're on the cutting edge! [Joke.] Streaming:"Wicked Little Letters," streaming services and rental. When residents of a small seaside town begin receiving profanity-laced letters in this black comedy mystery, suspicion falls on a foul-mouthed Irishwoman (Jessie Buckley). But did she do it? Also starring Olivia Coleman and Ajana Vasan."Shardlake," Hulu. In this 4-part series based on C.J. Sansom's novels, a lawyer and his sidekick (Arthur Hughes and Anthony Boyle) investigate, on the orders of Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean), a horrific murder at a monastery. "Batman: Caped Crusader," Prime. In this animated throwback noir series, Batman (voiced by Hamish Linklater) is a true detective using low-key methods and his fists to fight crime in Gotham City. More diversity and some interesting spins on Batman's longtime villains. "My Spy," Prime. A hardened CIA agent (Dave Bautista) meets his most challenging adversary yet, a 9-year-old girl (Chloe Coleman), whom he's supposed to be discreetly surveilling. She has other ideas in this cute 2020 action comedy also starring Kristen Schaal and Daniel Kim. "Leave No Trace," Disney+ and rental. In this slow-moving but involving drama from the Oscar-nominated writer and director of "Winter's Bone," a dad (Ben Foster) and his daughter (Thomasin McKenzie) live off the grid in Oregon until one small mistake tips them off to the authorities. Books:"The Invisible Hour," by Alice Hoffman. This novel from the "queen of magical realism" celebrates the power of reading. A copy of "The Scarlet Letter" causes a young girl to question she and her mother's involvement in an oppressive cult. "The Woman in White," by Wilkie Collins. This story originally published in installments in 1859-1860 is often cited in 100-best-novels-of-all-time lists and was one of the first to use multiple narrators to advance the plot. Vivid characters, a mysterious woman in white, true love, scheming upper-crust types, involuntary confinement in an insane asylum—it's all here!

When Paul McCartney announced that he and Ringo Starr had produced a new Beatles song with the aid of AI, many music pundits were skeptical. Was this new song be another gimmick like the fake Drake hit "Heart on My Sleeve"? No. Instead, the Beatles simply used AI voice separation technology to repair a well-worn John Lennon demo tape.  Back in the '90s, Yoko Ono gave shared a collection of unfinished John Lennon demos with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison (who died in 2001) as part of a final recording session that resulted in the singles "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love." However, the third song, “Now And Then" was marred by hissing and humming, and the piano was overly loud. Harrison called it rubbish, and after a few hours of tracking a rough song they left it on the cutting room floor.  But now in 2023, using film maker Peter Jackson's latest restoration technology created for his "Get Back" documentary, the Beatles were able to create one last song together, though in three different eras. Lennon tracked his vocals in the '70s, Harrison's parts were lifted from the '90s sessions, and McCartney and Starr added their parts in 2022. The band is filled out by a string arrangement by Giles Martin (Beatles cataloger and son of the late Beatles producer George Martin) and Ben Foster, in addition to reused backing vocals from earlier Beatles tracks.  So, did the Beatles successfully bring this worn-out recording back to life? Does this AI song sound like Beatles, let alone human? Find out on Switched On Pop.
