My guest today is the German filmmaker Uwe Boll. Born in Wermelskirchen he decided he wanted to direct films at the age of ten, after seeing Marlon Brando star in Mutiny on the Bounty. It wasn't until he was in his mid-thirties, however, that he directed his first major motion picture, Blackwoods, a psychological thriller that a critic for the New York Times described as ‘smart and diabolical'.It was, however, his adaptations of video games for which he made his name. House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Far Cry and Postal were just some of the games he adapted to film. Not all of them lost money, but most were derided by reviewers. My guest did not shy away from engaging his harshest critics, however. In 2006 he challenged five of them to a boxing match. Ten years later he announced his retirement from filmmaking. Nevertheless, since then he has announced several new projects, including First Shift, a police drama set in the New York, that released in the summer.Links:Boll Films Official WebsiteGame Over, Uwe Boll -- Vanity Fair. The time has once again come for the boys to delve into the back catalogue of the most infamous video game movie director of all time, Raging Boll himself, Uwe Boll. No, your eyes don't deceive you, this movie does indeed star Sir Ben Kingsley in one of the biggest cases of "how the F*!K did that happen?" in the history of film. Clearly Ben was asking himself that question too because his performance here in unlike any performance you've ever seen him do. We promise. Hosted on Acast. Darkness Of Man is a new action noir starring Jean Claude Van Damme as a former Interpol agent haunted by the actions of his past. Visually striking, Darkness Of Man sees Van Damme give a nuanced turn - and it's once again an indicator that the action icon can deliver good performances alongside bullets and flying kicks. James Cullen Bressack, the director, producer and co-writer of Darkness Of Man is no stranger to working for legendary action heroes, having previously worked with Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal and Mel Gibson. He joins this episode of the podcast, to talk about the making of the neo-noir, working with Jean Claude Van Damme and what it's like directing other iconic action stars. Darkness Of Man co-star, Kristanna Loken also joins this episode. Loken has had a storied career having played the evil T-X opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines and having starred in a variety of other films and TV shows including Bloodrayne, Burn Notice and Painkiller Jane. Amongst other things, Kristanna Loken discusses how acting is changing in the face of new technologies, making Darkness Of Man and working with Jean Claude Van Damme.

Betsy Goes to the Movies... and sometimes her friends go too
To give you an idea of how bad this movie is, I watched it in the middle of October in 2023. That's how much I dreaded listening to the recording. It is on par with The Room or Bloodrayne for being a terrible movie, and I think the 19% on Rotten Tomatoes is actually very generous. I will never watch this again, and if you want to be spared, just listen to this episode. Trust me.
Getting you caught up on the latest and greatest (and sometimes not-so-great) in blu-rays, Peter Sobczynski and Erik Childress run the gamut this week. They include Billy Wilder doing Agatha Christie and George Segal doing Michael Crichton. A film from the late Norman Jewison and a reimagining of the late Adrienne Shelley's final film. Plus in maybe the biggest swing, going over arguably Robert Altman's finest film and then diving into the career of Uwe Boll. 0:00 - Intro 1:15 – Criterion (McCabe and Mrs Miller) 8:55 – Kino (The Big Country, Witness for the Prosecution, The Thomas Crown Affair, Burnt Offerings) 29:10 - Massacre Video (Bloodrayne 4K) 41:12 – Shout Factory (Funeral Home, The Terminal Man) 47:29 – Decal (Waitress: The Musical) 54:18 – New Blu-ray Announcements 56:56 - Outro

A hlavně, jde o období, kdy se do širšího povědomí dostala značka Vampire the Masquerade.
For the final episode of Grindcast Movie Mayhem, Jason and Matt watch a Uwe Boll video game adaptaion so boring and poorly-made that it almost broke them. Join us for our review of BLOODRAYNE.
Our hosting switcheroo continues as Joe helms a full analysis and fix of 2016's Assassin's Creed, Justin Kurzel and Michael Fassbender's attempt to adapt the hit video game franchise to the silver screen. It didn't win any Razzies, but Jack got to do Caligula. In this 1st part, we breakdown what did and didn't work about the film, explore the connections between the film and games and briefly look into the series' history, and look into what some critics had to say. Jack laments his lack of virtual parkour skills, Joe gives a scattered overview of the games, and take a moment to laugh about cringeworthy presidential announcements. Join us as we explore what could have been a hit film series, where nothing is real and everything is permitted (as long as its PG-13, I guess). CW: Brief mention of the alleged sexual misconduct and misogynist culture within Ubisoft, violence, Christopher Columbus, a reminder that the Uwe Boll adaptation of Bloodrayne exists. In BloodRayne, a vampire, whose part of a freakshow attraction, escapes and joins two vampire hunters to find and kill her father.BloodRayne is the 3rd Uwe Boll movie we've reviewed on The Final Podcast because we just can't get enough of video game adaptations. As expected, it doesn't live up to expectations and is at moments nonsensical, but we just can't help ourselves. The action sequences, the blood, and the dialogue are all so...interesting. Watch the movie and catch our review. In this GameView Episode we watch the worst film yet! Oh boy I wish someone would Bloodrayne this movie down the drain! Get it? Rain? Nevermind....
I can't believe it's taken this long for an Uwe Boll movie to show up on this podcast.
Your favorite bad movie podcast is back! Howard Jones, Charlie Bellmore, and Brian MacKay join me to watch the Ewe Boll debacle Bloodrayne!BloodRayne is a 2005 German-American fantasy action horror film set in 18th-century Romania, directed by Uwe Boll. The film stars Kristanna Loken, Michael Madsen, Matthew Davis, Will Sanderson, Billy Zane, Udo Kier, Michael Paré, Meat Loaf, Michelle Rodriguez, Ben Kingsley, and Geraldine Chaplin. The screenplay by Guinevere Turner is based on the video game of the same name from Majesco Entertainment and the game developer, Terminal Reality. The third video game film adaptation by Boll, who previously made the films based on House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne received extremely negative reviews upon release and was a box office bomb, grossing only $3.7 million from a $25 million budget.Milwaukee Metal Festival TicketsTherave.com/metalfest Support Our SponsorsIndie Merch Store - https://www.indiemerchstore.com use promo code JASTA10 at check outManscaped - Get 20% Off + Free Shipping, with the code JASTA at https://Manscaped.com. This week, Bri and Leah discuss the absolute worst vampire film of the 21st century: Uwe Boll's BloodRayne (2005). It's... something. We hated it, profoundly. Ah, yes. BloodRayne! The franchise that, much like a vampire, refuses to die. Every once in a while a new game comes out. And it’s alright! Enough to enjoy over a weekend of nothing else to do. But that’s it. Like a vampire, you forget they’re there until it’s too late. Then bam! Another game… Read more S6:E38 – “BloodRayne 2” MTV2 Video Mods

linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This April at Catching Up On Cinema, we'll be scraping the bottom of the barrel and reviewing “The Awful Aughts”! This week Trevor is joined by Harrison and Jordan from the Grief Burrito podcast to review infamous director Uwe Boll's, BloodRayne (2005)! An adaptation of the mildly successful video game property of the same name, the film attempts to cash in on 2 separate trends that were fairly popular through the 2000's, namely video game movies, and leather bound, female headlined action films. Featuring director Boll's signature style of a rushed and incoherent narrative coupled with an inexplicably notable ensemble cast of actors, the film is often regarded as one of the better overall effort's among his loathsome filmography. Special thanks to our special guests, Harrison and Jordan from the Grief Burrito podcast! Zombies, Vampires, Undead Whatevers, and Poor Dental Hygiene all of which aren't the grossest things in these films. Can she Snipe the title from her competition, or will reign room floor her end on editing the? Will Steve Boll over his opponents, or will they Rayne on his parade? Is Brian galloping toward recapturing the title, or will his dreams die in the street like an ill conceived protagonist? Tune in as three mutant horror nerds rip each other's guts out on the way to deciding who's film reigns supreme! Also cottage cheese is gross. Like eww.
