"Does anybody really know what time it is?" When it comes to reading the signs of the End, there's a lot of confusion. Some of that is intentional. Are you ready for the rain? There was only one way to be ready for the Flood, and that was to get in the Ark. Practicing your swimming "just in case" wasn't going to save anyone. It was the Ark, or death. And the only reason you'd get in that odorous Ark would be if you believed that judgment was coming. Today, as in the days of Noah, there are a few who believe that judgment is coming, and a great multitude who are "living for the weekend" - just like Jesus told us in Matthew 24. Have we just stuck Jesus onto our old lives? When we look at the Apostle Paul's life, we see purpose. We see a plan. And his plan didn't always turn out to be God's plan, so that's reassuring. Who should be ministering what, to whom? Toward the end of his letter to the Romans Paul gives us some background on his assignment to the Gentiles. The scoffer says, "There are too many hypocrites in the church!" His Christian friend answers, "No, there's room for one more." It may be true that the critic is looking for an excuse not to believe in Jesus, but his criticism hits closer to the mark than we would like.
