In the podcast episode, the focus is on the essential aspect of aligning sales and marketing strategies within contemporary business environments. It sets the stage by highlighting the potential pitfalls of sticking to outdated sales and marketing approaches and the consequences this can have on the effectiveness of these functions. The introduction also alludes to the risks of turnover in key leadership roles like chief marketing officers and chief sales officers when alignment is lacking. The core of this episode revolves around the need for collaboration and feedback loops between the sales and marketing departments. It stresses the significance of fostering a strong working relationship between these two areas to enhance lead generation processes and streamline follow-up activities. By emphasizing the importance of open communication and mutual understanding of each team's goals and challenges, the podcast advocates for a synergistic approach that can drive successful business outcomes. Moreover, the discussion goes beyond the superficial reliance on technology as a solution for aligning sales and marketing. It highlights the critical role of organizational ownership and a deep comprehension of the alignment process. The body of the podcast underscores that simply adopting new tools and technologies is insufficient; true success lies in the commitment of the entire organization to integrating sales and marketing functions effectively.

Today, as we continue to delve into the huge priority of chronic absenteeism, we want to shine the spotlight on Springfield Local Schools in Region 8. Springfield is a district just outside of Akron that had a huge hill to climb in terms of increasing student attendance, with more than 4 in 10 students chronically absent (meaning they were absent for at least 10% of school days) in 2021-2022. By working systematically through the Ohio Improvement Process and systemically across their entire district, Springfield saw stunning improvement in their chronic absenteeism rate in just one year. SST8's Frank Gant talks with Michelle Warner and Todd Lovell, two administrators from Springfield Jr/Sr High about the MANY things they did as a district and a building to make this happen. You'll quickly learn that data and decision rules aren't enough - building stronger relationships with students and families is at the heart of attendance work as well. Co-host: Frank Gant, SST8 Educational Consultant Additional Resources: Attendance Playbook (PDF) from Attendance Works - evidence-based strategies for addressing chronic absenteeism Root Causes of Attendance from Attendance Works website - overview and downloadable worksheet

This week, Morgan has a heart-to-heart with Dr. Dave Rabin, a board-certified psychiatrist, neuroscientist, and entrepreneur who has studied the impact of chronic stress on the body for more than fifteen years. Dave and his team at the Apollo Clinic empower their clients to take control of their health by tapping into the body's natural healing ability. In this episode, Dave discusses how heart rate variability (HRV) connects to the body's stress levels and the effects that low HRV can have on athletic performance. He also shares with Morgan how analyzing his own dreams sparked an early interest in neuroscience, and how his innovative product, the Apollo Wearable, can improve the body's resistance to stress.
