It is a thrill to welcome Miral Kotb back (and for the first time on the podcast) to the Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar platform. Miral is a prolific entrepreneur in technology development and the performing arts. In 2009, she combined her passion for dance and technology to create iLuminate, the world's first light dance technology company. Two years later, Miral and Team ILuminate made their national debut on America's Got Talent (AGT): Season Six, where they wowed the audience, Howie Mandel, and former judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne. September 26, 2024 This episode of Everything Co-op continues the tribute to the 2024 Cooperative Hall of Fame inductees. It features an interview with Tony Bedard, CEO of Frontier Co-op. Tony and Vernon discuss his significant contributions to the cooperative movement over the course of his career. Tony Bedard joined Frontier Co-op in 1991 and became CEO in 2003. He champions the co-op's mission to nourish people and the planet, believing that “Doing Good, Works.” Tony has led initiatives like Breaking Down Barriers to Employment, to help employees and members of the community overcome barriers to employment and economic mobility, by providing accessible childcare, second chance hiring, and more. Under his leadership, Frontier Co-op has received numerous awards, including the Oscar C. Schmidt Business Leadership Award from the University of Iowa's Tippie School of Business. Under his leadership, the co-op has been selected by a variety of national and global recognitions, including Engage For Good's Halo Awards, Reuters Responsible Business Awards, and Inc. Magazine's Best in Business. Tony has led over 25 humanitarian missions to El Salvador and Haiti, supporting education, clean water, and healthcare projects. He also advocates for corporate social responsibility and supports small-scale organic growers through the Well Earth program. Tony holds a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and an M.S. in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University.

Their patented QUICKSHIP bin/program is the simplest way for individuals and facilities around the nation to recycle tennis balls. Not only does the program provide pre-paid shipping, but it also provides a tax donation for every ball donated. RecycleBalls created Green Gold in 2017. This unique crumb rubber product, made from tennis balls, can be easily incorporated into many existing processes. At the time, less than 1% of the global supply of COVID vaccines was going to those living in low-income countries.In recognition of the scale of the world's largest ever vaccination program, Expedia Group committed to donating at least $10 million and enlisted the support of its brands and customers. From August 5 to September 5, 2021, each booking made via one of Expedia Group's mobile apps resulted in a $2 donation by Expedia Group to UNICEF's COVID-19 response. This was the brand's first cross-branded marketing campaign that spanned it's entire family of brands.The partners raised more than $10.5 million, enabled the delivery of 5 million vaccines and achieved more than 15 million impressions on Expedia Group's social media platforms. The CEOs of both organizations were also featured on CNN (which has almost a million prime-time viewers), and for earned media, they saw 516 media hits, which equates to a potential reach of 651 million.Give The World A Shot, as the campaign was aptly named, was crowned the Gold Winner in the Consumer-Activated Corporate-Donation category of our Halo Awards program.
