Day Cruise is the musical brainchild of Lochlann Gallaher and Cody Hofmans. The group came from the humble beginnings of Lochlann's mom's basement in 2017. In late 2018 they dropped their first single “Galore”. Less than a month later they released their first EP “Scrambled”. Then came three additional singles - “Clink”, “Deluge”, and “Loopty Loop”. Following the production and release of these singles, the duo decided to expand to a full band. Cody and Lochlann brought on Sam Butler on trumpet, Kendrick Beltran on bass (sometimes saxophone), Lance Oliphant on lead guitar and Seth Willauer on drums to form the current lineup of Day Cruise. In addition to rapping and singing, Lochlann Gallaher plays a keytar synthesizer and Cody Hofmans plays rhythm guitar. The group has been rehearsing and reworking material to fit the new, funky, live sound. You can find them gigging around the Louisville, Kentucky area. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tophillrecording/support

With a special ability to connect with fans and build a global community, Hanson put themselves on the map long-term through their popular music and, in recent years, their craft beer. But the band had many near misses while building their careers, like almost signing sketchy record deals and running out of beer at their first Hop Jam festival. Listen as Taylor Hanson talks about what he learned through years of posturing himself both as a musician and as an entrepreneur.

That’s Taylor Hanson, and if you live in Tulsa or if you’re a fan of eponymous band Hanson, he needs no introduction. The band is comprised of brothers Isaac (guitar, bass, piano, vocals), Taylor (keyboards, piano, guitar, drums, vocals), and Zac (drums, piano, guitar, vocals). They started the band in 1992 when they were 11, 9 and 6, and skyrocketed to fame with MMMBop in 1997. Now, 27 years after the band’s founding, they are still making music. Part of the reason these brothers are so beloved in their hometown is that despite their massive international following, they remain deeply rooted here in Tulsa, working to make the community stronger. Taylor Hanson started Food on the Move in 2014 inspired by the community-focused work of Edward Perkins, a former U.S. ambassador to South Africa. The mobile food project brings food trucks, fresh produce, cooking demonstrations, music, and health and social services to food deserts — economically strapped areas with limited access to nutritious food options. From a Tulsa Voice article that focuses on FOTM: “Food On The Move is visionary because it deals with the problem of food access in a way that both meets an immediate need and asks anyone who’s paying attention to re-think the way our community lives, works and eats.”This episode of Tulsa Talks is brought to you by the Tulsa Regional Chamber.Taylor Hanson knows a thing or two about success. And one thing he’s learned? What hits and what fades is often unpredictable, and your ability to be flexible — to be willing to reinvent — is crucial. So in case you’ve been living under a rock, the 6th annual Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival is this Saturday, May 19. The festival has grown immensely since it began in 2014, and has evolved alongside Hanson Day (which, by the way, is now several days) as a destination for Hanson fans to gather from all over the world here in Tulsa. Up next, Taylor shares what it was like to reinvent some old hits for Hanson’s newest album “String Theory.” But first, a special guest segment from the hosts of The Middle of Everything Podcast. Working moms Claire and Sarah are up next with their top tips for summer camp survival.
Taylor Hanson joins us to talk beer, The Hop Jam, Firkin Feast, and why the Hanson Brothers have continued to make Tulsa home. We hear the story behind the Hop Jam, what an actual firkin is, some of the Hanson Brothers new music projects, and advice for anyone looking to go out start their own creative project.

Bobby Moore explains the story of how The Brothers Moore became a band, and the inspiration behind the music. Every songwriter has his or her own unique process, and Bobby and Billy Moore are no exception. With a roundabout story to how Bobby ended up in the band, this group is dominating the Tulsa music scene with a Kings of Leon-esque vibe. Already they've played at the Cain's Ballroom and Guthrie Green, and continue to build followers that support the upcoming tours and music that the band is preparing.
Is metal a bit stale these days? If you listen to Matt Heafy of the band Trivium, he'll argue that it's never been more healthy. There's many young up and coming artists in the metal world worth listening to. You just have to exercise some forbearance and look. In this day and age with social media, you're choices tend to get overwhelming. The truth is, this generation has more access to bands and artists than we could have even imagine growing up. Matt Heafy of Trivium joins the DOMKcast again for the second time. He's using social media to the fullest, having a twitch account where he gives ju-jitsu lessons, guitar lessons, and gives his fans to learn about Matt's true personality offstage. Matt will incorporate outside-the-box covers on not only his twitch account but YouTube channel as well. Perhaps a collaboration in the works after this talk? Matt recently did a metal version of "mmmmbop" by Hanson. Just shows you the eclectic taste in music that Matt has and does similar covers on his YouTube channel as well. Maybe we'll see him at Hop Jam next year? Matt revealed that he's working on a collaboration with Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional. We touched on why metal is king in Europe but not so much in the states. An incredibly talented guy who got his start at an early age. As he stated in the interview, Trivium has been the only real job he's had in his life. Always great to chat with Matt Heafy who is one of the nicest guys in the business. Hear the full conversation on episode 72 of the DOMKcast. #DOMKRocks
