This week, in Pembroke, Kentucky, a very murderous evening, that leaves three people dead, including two of them being burned to cinders, leads investigators down a rabbit hole. The main suspect is an Army vet airline pilot, who insists it was his bigamist ex-wife, who was trying to frame him, but he's been in other trouble, including accusations of abuse & having classified documents. Will a shell casing & a dog tag be enough to convict him??Along the way, we find out that these small town festivals love a local band, that a shell casing that matches your gun seems to be pretty decent evidence, and that the bigger the crime, the more you claim it's a conspiracy against you!!New episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! Grab your sage and your cowboy boots, y'all—this week, we're two-stepping into Travis Tritt's haunted cabin! The Country Crooner Who's Got Ghosts on the Guest List! Here's a Quarter Call a Ghostbuster Travis!!!!
It's another packed episode, thanks for listening! Ace Frehley starts us off. He's playing Soaring Eagle on the 29th, the last gig of the year for him. That show is with Stephen Pearcy of RATT. He told me he's working on his next album, Origins 3. We talked about the crazy drones flying around by his house. We also talked about the days of KISS and how big they were here in Detroit and Michigan. Ace is so much fun to talk to. Legend! Bumblefoot is up next, with his new album dropping on January 24th. It's called Bumblefoot...Returns. It's his first instrumental album in 30 years! He's got some heavy-hitting guests on it as well. We talk about the video game surrounding the album, how it's coming out on vinyl and cassette, and more. To say he's one of the most talented guitarists out there is an understatement. Oscar and Alyse from a pretty new band called LYLVC join me next. They formed during the pandemic and have been making some real noise lately. Their latest song is out, called "XXX". They've had the chance to work with some great producers making new music, which we discussed. Alyse tells me about her appearance on the TV show Don't Forget the Lyrics. They're playing the Machine Shop in Flint on December 20th. Speaking of the Machine Shop, Jackyl played there on Thanksgiving Eve. Before that, I spoke with Jesse James Dupree. He spoke of his friendship with Travis Tritt, the only hockey game he'd attended, his home studio and the legends who've recorded there, and his connection with Harley Davidson. Thanks for listening!
https://youtube.com/live/4_iffBMGZ5s You wouldn't believe Mico Klokoc Thompson's story—it's like something out of a rock and roll legend. This guy's been hooked on electronics since he was just a little kid, probably around six. His grandfather used to tinker with tube TVs, radios, and ham radio setups, so there was always some cool gadget to mess with at his grandparents' house. Oh, and his grandfather also played a little guitar, which kind of planted the seed for Mico's lifelong love of music and tone. By the time he was 12, Mico was already reaching out to big names in the industry. He wrote to Ken Fischer from Trainwreck Circuits and even the artist relations team at Kramer Guitars. And get this—Ken Fischer actually responded and told him to stay in touch. Talk about a promising start! Fast forward a few years, and by 17, he was on the road with Aerosmith, working behind the scenes while Guns N' Roses was the opening act. Can you imagine being a teenager and getting that kind of backstage pass to rock history? From there, he jumped into the Hollywood music scene, fixing tube amps and working with local guitarists at Amp Crazy. It didn't take long for Mico to start rubbing shoulders with the biggest names in the game. He worked with Eddie Van Halen, Ratt, Poison—you name it. And when he moved to Nashville, he didn't slow down. Instead, he started working with country legends like Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, and Merle Haggard. But Mico's not just some behind-the-scenes tech guy. He's been a key player at Trainwreck Amplifiers for years, partnered with One Control Effects and Amplifiers, and he even designs his own amps now. He's all about restoring vintage gear and helping musicians perfect their tone. I mean, he's worked with everyone from Ted Nugent to Pat Travers, and even up-and-comers like Benito Di Bartolie and Dante Bonasera. Mico's the guy you call when you're serious about tone. Whether it's building a custom amp, restoring a classic, or just dialing in that perfect sound, he's the one who makes it happen. He's a legend in his own right. "Talking Guitars" is your go-to show for all things guitars and guitar gear. THE VIBE with Kelly Cardenas presents NEVER QUIT - TRISTAN TRITT Tritt went to the West coast to study music production and artist management after high school. However, he soon realized where he really wanted to be was on stage performing. Tritt started playing guitar at a young age - getting lessons from his local guitar shop and from his dad. In addition to growing up on the road learning from some of country music's greatest talents from side stage, Tritt also counts Motörhead, Ozzy Osborne and Stone Temple Pilots as some of his musical influences. He is forging his own path by melding his favorite things and is very clear when he says “I'm doing it MY way.” Tritt believes being “genuine and authentic” in life and music is a top priority.Georgia native, Tristan Tritt, is a Rock artist, songwriter and musician. If the name sounds familiar it's because Tritt is the oldest son of country music legend Travis Tritt, and the brother of country artist Tyler Reese Tritt. However, Tritt's heavier Rock driven performances have surprised fans who expect him to lean more towards his family's Outlaw Country music roots. https://www.tristantritt.com/ BESTSELLING BOOK “THE VIBE- the missing ingredient that changes everything” https://a.co/d/0PzQk6F JOIN THE VIBE COMMUNITY Https://store.kellycardenas.com/kelly-cardenas-membership BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE PODCAST MERCH http://KellyCardenasMerch.com Thank you to our sponsors FINDLAY VOLVO CARS LAS VEGAS Findlay Volvo Las Vegas Tableone hospitality Tableonehospitality.com THE MINA GROUP https://www.michaelmina.net Https://www.Secretknock.co Cardenas Law Group https://www.cardenaslawgrouplv.com BLING SHINE SERUM-The #1 seller of over 15 years and the only product to be endorsed by my MAMA! Derek Stoner retired from the U.S. Army in January of 2022. He served as a Special Forces Green Beret for 20 years wherein he was deployed to the Middle East 16 times. Derek's passion for Country Music stems from his roots growing up in small town America near the little town of Craig, MO. Craig is situated right alongside the Missouri River where Derek spent his childhood hunting, fishing and learning the value of a hard earned dollar on family farms and in the forestry business. His love for Country Music was cultivated through hours of listening to his musical heroes such as Travis Tritt, George Strait, Hank Williams Jr. and many more. Derek bought his first guitar and slowly taught himself to play during downtime while deployed overseas. Prior to leaving the Armed Forces, Derek decided to take the first steps in pursuing a lifelong dream of writing and performing music. He quickly amassed the material required to perform live shows through both original and cover music and began to book live venues near his home in Western KY. Now two years into his music career, Derek has released his first Album, multiple Singles and is currently in studio recording his Sophmore Album titled 'Truth'. Derek played nearly 200 shows in 2022, many of which were as a circuit artist performing at multiple world famous honky-tonks in Nashville, TN. Derek's fan base continues to grow as music lovers of all sorts are attracted to Derek's powerful vocal presence and his ability to fill songs with true emotion. derekstonermusic.com

Riding Shotgun With Charlie #200 Michael Bane MichaelBane.tv Michael Bane. What can I say? I watched Michael for a long time as a new gun owner back on The Outdoor Channel on the shows Shooting Gallery and The Best Defense. I really enjoyed them and got a lot from The Best Defense! If I had a VHS player, I'm sure there are some tapes in storage. I met him at SHOT a couple years ago and asked for a selfie and he happily obliged. In November of 2022, Matt Mallory and I did a LIVE Show with him and I really had no idea about all of his history. Michael is an amazing storyteller so I just sat back and listened. This show isn't much different. I posted on my social media that I was going to Denver for a few days. Michael asked when I was coming out and said if I had the time, he would love to be on the show. He said I could visit the Secret Hidden Bunker. How am I going to pass this up? The last 24 hours of this trip were spent with Michael and his sweetie. We had dinner the night the previous night and I got some stories that just seemed over the top. It was amazing! The next morning, I headed to the Secret Hidden Bunker. Before we even started I got two hours of stories. His sweetie finally said that we needed to film my show. I needed to get to the airport, too. Once we were the appropriate distance from the Bunker, we started filming. We headed to Estes Park, CO, to The Stanley Hotel, which was the inspiration for The Shining. Michael talked about his writing career and working for Country Music magazine back in his youth. He grew up in Memphis and took in all the R&B, blues, and early rock. He spent time writing for local newspapers over the years. When a friend showed him a check from writing for a magazine, he knew that was the path for him. He traveled with and became friends with many of the country singers and musicians. I love the story about how he went to Hank Williams Jr's house and ended up touring with and writing Hank Jr's autobiography. He's written a number of books about country musicians, from Travis Tritt to Willie Nelson. His stories and experiences are unmatched! Once at the Stanley Hotel, we may have had a drink with Lloyd the bartender. On the way back to the Bunker, we talked about guns, TV careers, and life lessons. Michael shared how Shooting Gallery got started with four episodes and the producer thinking it won't last. With no experience writing for TV or hosting a show, he moved ahead and took the chance. It ran for 22 years. There's a story about how the Best Defense saved a woman's life. I'm sure more than one person's life, too. He worked with several counter terrorist experts to film an episode in a hangar about what really happens during a terror attack on a plane. He's got connections to the best people with first hand knowledge and experience. And he did the last interview of Jeff Cooper! I am truly honored to have had Michael on the show. I'm excited that I have a lot of his stories on video. I know there's many, many more stories, too. This episode is really all the things that I enjoy. Stories about music, guns, and why you should take opportunities in life. I'm looking forward to listening to the show myself, even though I was there and I edited it. I need to take it all in. Happy 200th episode! Favorite quotes: “You can get paid to write but you don't have to work for a newspaper?” “You've just got to move with the opportunity.” “You just keep going. People say “are you willing to do X?” You always say yes.” “How do most people get this information that is literally life and death information?” “I learned competency in different fields.” “Excellence never comes from a consensus. Never.” “The history of arms is the history of the world.” Michael Bane TV https://www.michaelbane.tv/ Blog Spot https://michaelbane.blogspot.com/ Triggered YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZC5Bnfhwlv449SIAZs3fPQ Twitter/X https://twitter.com/michaelbanetv Instagram https://www.instagram.com/mbaneacp Second Amendment Foundation https://secure.anedot.com/saf/donate?sc=RidingShotgun Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms https://www.ccrkba.org/ Please support the Riding Shotgun With Charlie sponsors and supporters. Brent Mason has picked for the biggest and best names in country music: Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Blake Shelton, and George Strait are just a few of the country stars on whose records you can hear Mason's Fender-on-Fender fretwork. But his solo on “Southbound Train,” the closing track on Travis Tritt's 2000 record Down the Road I Go, might be his hottest work of all. As Mason explains, the song scoots along at his favorite country tempo—a Cajun two-step, Mason says—which provides the rhythmic framework for his face-melter lead. Mason says the melodic and structural components came in part from his familiarity with jazz, and the mixing of jazz and blues with his usual twangy conventions. In fact, Mason's furious note barrages occasionally earned him some raised eyebrows (and some choice words from Conway Twitty) in the more traditionalist Nashville studio system. This might be the toughest solo our host has taken on so far on Shred With Shifty. The key to wrestling it? “You gotta keep playing [it] til you wanna pull out all your teeth and hair,” says Mason. Which Nashville producers and stars would let Mason off-leash in the studio? How does a session ace deal with hand injuries? Listen on, shredders. And if you're brave enough, send in your take on Mason's solo. Click below to subscribe to the podcast!
