Kellie Fitzgerald has arrived at this particular point in her life by taking the scenic route, often filled with pratfalls and new beginnings. After a life spent experiencing trials by fire while simultaneously navigating choppy waters, she is passionate about helping others navigate their own paths and become the very best version of themselves they can be. Always a passionate writer and lyricist she has recently created a children's book series and is currently working on several screenplays. Having been told early in adulthood that as an employee she would make an excellent entrepreneur, Kellie has started, grown, and/or run several small businesses. Currently, she is an author and publisher, real estate broker specializing in vineyard properties, and a Reiki Master and life coach in southeastern Arizona. As usual, she says, she lives with a rather large menagerie of rescued animals and way more gardens and other projects than any truly sane person would attempt to handle. "I've always been sort of an animal activist and it is projected within the next 15 years wild elephants will be gone from Thailand forever." "When I thought about writing a book about the Thai elephants I thought maybe it should be a children's book; since my youngest grandson is deaf I decided it should be a children's book with a deaf hero...or heroine in this case." ~ Kellie Fitzgerald The first three of her Children's Books have been published; there are a total of 18 planned. Literary Goddess Kristy Bock interviews Kellie Fitzgerald. Together they discuss Kellie's current project. "Laehli & the Elephants" is about a deaf girl in Thailand who is bullied by other kids so she goes into the jungle and makes animal friends. This was insprired by her grandson, who is deaf.
This show is intended for those of us living with auto-immune diseases to help each other. Have you found something that really helps you? Please share it. Had a really negative reaction to a prescribed medication? Please share that too. Personally I'd love to know who has found a great cart/wagon/rolling seat/etc. that really works well in the garden. Really anything you'd like to share about living with your particular auto-immune disease is what this show's all about. I'm the owner/publisher of IbbiLane Press which can be found at http://www.ibbilanepress.com I'm co-founder of PATHE Media, which is at http://www.pathemagazine.com. Please check out Laehli & the Elephants at http://www.laehli.com and let me know what you think. Thanks so much for listening!
OK, there's been a lot of crap on social media once again. Nevermind that I truly do not understand why people feel the need to even comment if the post is something they don't agree with...there have been just a lot of excessively rude "judgy" comments made by people who would never say such things in person and don't even know the person they're judging anyway. I've bit my tongue and meditated and drank green tea and gone for walks in nature and even prayed about it. Here's the thing...there is no way to justify being ugly to anyone ever. So stop. Now. There's likely to be some strong language on this show. You've been warned
While this has been a topic of discussion, at least on social media, for quite a while recent events have made us decide it's time to revisit this topic on this show too. First off, everyone has their dark side. All the life coaching, praying, meditating and retreats in the world will not change that. Personally, I've found the key in moving past it lies in acknowledging and accepting that darkness within myself does exist. Once you've fully acknowledged and accepted your dark side you are free to decide whether or not you want to continue embracing it. Remember it's ok to linger in your own darkness for a while if you need to. Often the most important lessons we learn in our lives come from spending "quality time" with our darkness. We hope this show has been helpful to you. We have a huge new project coming very soon, so please stay tuned! As always thank you for listening.
Our guest today, Malcolm Klimowicz, is a founder and organizer with KOALA - Kitchener Ontario Animal Liberation Alliance. He has organized fundraisers for farm animal sanctuaries, taken busloads of people to protest captivity at marineland, held workshops, vegan potlucks, disruptions, protests, and is a leading voice in the animal rights movement in Southern Ontario. He is currently working on a province wide campaign entitled #EndFurFarming which seeks to ban the cruel practice of fur farming in Ontario. While I'm sure this conversation will upset many of our listeners please understand this is an important conversation to have. We ask that you like and share the show! As always, thank you so much for listening!
When you hear the word "sacrifice" what does it mean to you? Do you think about giving up things for your family? Do you think about your diet and exercise program? Chances are really good the word sacrifice has a really bad connotation for you. What if rather than looking at life changes as "sacrifices" you just look at them as simply changes. Not necessarily good or bad, but just a change. Often when people are undergoing changes in their lives the come face to face with their own "dark side" even when those changes, those sacrifices, ultimately are very good changes. With every life coach around preaching "love and light" all the time it can really make us feel really bad about...well, feeling bad. The truth is we all have a "dark side" and while hopefully, that doesn't mean you are a secret serial killer it probably does mean you've had a difficult time trying to balance positive thinking and law of attraction with how you really feel deep down inside. That's what we're talking about on today's show. Please like and share the show! We truly appreciate it! Call in and join the conversation by calling 646-716-9645. And as always, thank you so very much for listening!
Many years ago I was in a relationship with someone who desperately wanted a Samoyed. Having already been fully engaged in animal rescue at that time I had a really difficult time with the knowledge that in his mind only a purebred Samoyed would do, still, he had an important occasion coming up and all he wanted for a present was a Samoyed puppy. I did tons of research, interviewed dozens of breeders and talked with veterinarians before I settled on a particular puppy. Truly she turned out to be one of the greatest dogs I've ever lost my heart to. About two months after we opened our hearts and home to Ivory I received a call from my very upset boyfriend who was at the mall and happened to wander into a pet store only to come across a Samoyed puppy obviously in distress. I rushed down to see for myself and found a male puppy of about the same age as our rambunctious 4-month-old puppy at home but who could barely stand and could not walk unassisted because he'd spent his entire life in a cage. My heart broke into tiny pieces at that moment. After calls to my vet, the ASPCA, local news reporters and an attorney we walked out with that puppy. It was not long until that particular "mall pet store" was shut down for cruelty. Frosty had issues. OK, that's a vast understatement. I spent many hundreds of dollars just making him live, then hundreds more rehabilitating him. While his life was cut short due to genetic defects he still was able to grow into a happy and relatively-healthy dog. We were devastated when he died but knew we'd given him a far better life than what he could have had if we'd not taken him from the deplorable conditions we found him in. Truly this was a tale of two dogs. Don't support puppy mills by purchasing puppies from pet stores.
Recently I did a short show talking about how people should find something that speaks to their heart and step up to do something about it. It really doesn't matter what cause you decide to embrace as long as you embrace something. Today we're talking specifically about animal rescuer fatigue and burnout. These are very real issues and my personal belief is that every single person who does animal rescue will eventually go through a period of burnout, where they just don't feel like they're making a difference or a big enough difference and they will wonder if it's all worth it. Yes. It's worth it. You are making a difference even if it's to one single animal. Please like and share the show! You will be helping us help many other rescuers.
Everyone has bad days. We're starting this show right there. Then we'll move on to taking a leap of faith - because let's face it, sometimes that's exactly what you need to do to move past a bad day. There are many different ways of moving past a bad day and at least as many for moving through fear and uncertainty in taking a leap of faith. Whether you've recently gone through a dark period of time or you're ready to take a giant leap, we'll talk about those situations and what's worked for us to get moving forward. As always thanks for listening! Please share the show!
Every week on this show we talk about issues relating to animal health and welfare. On this show we're taking sort of a left turn and sharing stories about those pets that just never seem to leave us - even after they've died. Special guest co-host Jody Doty is a medium among many other things. She and I have shared many stories about our ghost pets through the years and I thought it might be a great topic for this show. As always, thanks so much for listening! Please like and share the show!
OK, maybe not that flying chimpanzee part. It's summer everyone! How does that make you feel? Recently I was going through photo albums, very old pictures of people I love when they were mere babies and maybe a bit older than that. One thing that struck me is how I remember those scenes displayed before me now on bits of colored paper. I remember the laughter, I remember the fun, I remember the love. Know what I don't remember? How much anyone weighed, whether or not we ate too much or how anyone looked in a swimsuit. If you're dreading summer fun, beach adventures, pool parties or even just wearing shorts out in public, know you are not alone. Know also that you are perfect exactly the way you are and if someone wants to pick on you or put you down just because of your size or shape...well, they don't deserve you anyway. That's where we're beginning today's show...who knows, we just might end up with flying chimpanzees! Thanks for listening! Please like and share the show!
Lots of people talk about doing something, about being a voice for the voiceless, about why something isn't being done. Our guest today, Chris Wilkinson, is one of those actually doing and being. Sometimes people only need an example to follow and it is our hope that you will make Chris yours. Truthfully there are many people like Chris, people in the trenches doing the dirty work that make people who only donate cash feel better about things. We'd like to thank Chris for all she does and for setting the example that we are all "someone" who can do "something. As always thanks for listening!
Do you have a favorite animal story from your past? Almost everyone does. Here's your chance to share your story with other animal lovers, become a published author and do something good to help out all those animal rescuers doing great things with very little money. Animal Pathes is an upcoming compilation book sponsored by PATHE Magazine. It's just $20 to be included and everything above what it costs to produce the book is going to animal-rescue related charities. In fact, you can be a part of picking the charity as well. If you know of a non-profit organization doing great work in animal rights and rescue areas please let us know about them...they might just become a recipient of proceeds from Animal Pathes! Please like and share the show! We greatly appreciate your support.
Were you raised to believe that having pride in yourself was somehow wrong? Perhaps you were taught that "prideful" people were conceited and that it was wrong to tell anyone about your accomplishments because that was "boasting" and boasting was most definitely wrong. How about respect? You were probably taught to respect your elders, but what about yourself? Today we're talking about all of this plus how it all ends up in a culture where "customer service" seems to be a thing of the past. As always thanks for listening!
By now you know we're huge lovers of animals. After wracking our brains for quite a while we decided the best way for us to personally give back and support animal rescue and conservation organizations is for us to sort of "rescue the rescuers." With that in mind, we're putting our natural talents to their highest and best use and doing a compilation book called Animal Pathes. We know it will cost us around $250 to produce the book, so we're keeping participation costs very low at only $20 per contributor. Obviously, this means we'll need at least 13 people to cover costs and donate to charity. Everything above what it costs to produce the book will go to animal-related non-profits. Which ones? YOU can help us choose! If you know of a terrific organization doing amazing work in the area of animal rescue and/or conservation tell us about them! We're looking for two organizations, one that works with domestic animals and one that works with wildlife. Please share this show link. YOU can make a difference too! As always, thanks so much for listening...and for sharing the show!
Humane farming? What exactly does that mean? Is there a reliable way of determining whether or not a particular farm or food producer is engaging in humane farming? Does humane farming pertain only to the animals in the food industry or can fruit and vegetables also be grown inhumanely? There are many questions about what it means to engage in humane farming practices and we're going to attempt to answer those questions on this very special "extra" episode of Animal Chatter. Our guest today is Gail Eisnitz, Chief Investigator at the Humane Farming Association. If you have questions or comments, please join our conversation by calling 646-716-9645! Please share the show with everyone you know! As always thanks so much for listening! Visit Kellie and Leah at www.pathemagazine.com
Expectations. In spite of our best efforts, we all have them. Sometimes we're even struggling to conform to other's expectations of us. Most often, however, it is our own expectations of ourselves and what we "were supposed to do with our lives" that hurts us the most. What expectations have you struggled with the most? Were those expectations things you put on yourself or did they come from outside of yourself? Sometimes simply recognizing and acknowledging expectations is enough to let them go and move on. Other times it's a little more difficult and still other times professional help might become necessary in order to accept those expectations might not have been realistic in the first place. Many people even find themselves becoming depressed due to not meeting their own expectations of themselves or of others...again, professional help might be indicated! Please share the show link and let us know how you feel about expectations. As always, thanks so much for listening!
Since IbbiLane Press is named after a cat naturally we wanted to have Chetal Vichare on the show to tell us all about Bittu's Pet Services! Bitu of course, is a dog. Founder Chetal Vichare says: Bitu's Pet Services was born out of love and respect that we share for animals. Handling animals requires a special touch, skills, training and experience. You either have it or you don't...we do and decided to devote our energies to the welfare and well-being of man's best friend. Nothing makes us happier than to use our skills and expertise, to help our four-legged community in any way we can. When Bittu was a pup, her groom time would be an extremely stressful time for us. We could never understand how a spa day could turn into such a traumatizing experience. Another worry on our mind would be the long hours we spent away from our baby while we were at work. Bittu wasn't getting any younger and we didn't want to miss out on the precious time we could have spent with her. A life-threatening incident helped my make up my mind that life is too short and I would rather spend it with those who matter, doing things that matter. I obtained my extensive training and certification as a Pet Stylist and a Pet Care Specialist and Bitu's Pet Services was born. Soon after, my husband joined me and we pledged to dedicate our lives to animal welfare. Bittu loves swimming and we would take her anywhere she could enjoy her favourite sport.
Our guest today is Barbara Trask Lovett, if that name sounds familiar to you then you're probably friends with us on facebook! Barbara has dedicated herself and her life really, to a particular elephant named Nosey. If you've seen PATHE Magazine you know Kellie LOVES elephants dearly and we actually featured Arte for Elephants and it's founder, Thyra Rutter, on a previous issue. Look for Barbara on an upcoming issue. So who is Nosey the Elephant? Well, in short she's a wild-born elephant who was captured and sent to a solitary life in captivity. She's been alone, mistreated and has developed arthritis and other health issues. Barbara is trying to raise enough money and enough knowledge about Nosey's situation to send her to an elephant sanctuary. You can contact Barbara on facebook https://www.facebook.com/barbara.t.lovett or through savenoseynow.org thank you so much for listening!
Relationships. We all have them in different forms throughout our lives. What makes a good one? How do you know when it might be time to move on or put some distance between yourself and someone you've had a relationship with? We're not talking only about "romantic" relationships either...friendships, co-workers, parents, children...and many other relationships need to be cultivated, need room to grow and often times they fade away. That's our topic for today's show...thanks for listening and please share the show link!
Factory farming has an impact on each of us as well as the planet itself. Once upon a time we pretty much knew where our food came from because we knew the farmer or rancher - or at least we knew who they were. But factory farming came in, under the guise of producing more food more efficiently to feed a growing population, and the family farm became almost extinct. Over the past several decades more and more people have become more concerned with not only who is growing their food and how far it travels but with how their food is being grown or raised. Social media has made it more obvious how food is grown in fields and orchards and videos showing animals being raised for food in horrible conditions are shared more and more often. As a result more organizations like the Humane Farming Association are popping up in an effort to protect the animals and educate the food-buying public. That's where we're starting today's show! Stay tuned and see where we end up. Thanks so much for listening! While you're online, please check out www.pathemagazine.com and let us know what you think!
Unless you've been hiding or are completely unaware of PATHE Magazine and it's parent company PATHE Media, you know that Kellie Fitzgerald and Leah Frieday are self-proclaimed "animal-holics" and love all things animal, nature and earth. Naturally they have decided to once again join forces on this new show, Animal Chatter, to explore things that need to be done and champion those doing amazing things with regard to protecting animals, nature and our amazing planet as a whole. Join the conversation by calling 646-716-9645. Please share the link to the show with everyone you know (and maybe a few you don't) and tune in every Tuesday at 2pm Eastern. Thank you so much for your support! K & L
Self love. Yep. Difficult topic for many people to grasp. So what exactly is "self love?" To many people, self-love seems to be self-absorbtion, being self-centered and often even a bit "cocky." But is that really what self love is? Nope. Not even close. Yes, loving yourself means putting yourself first but that doesn't mean you aren't concerned with others at the same time. Actually you really can't take care of or even fully love anyone else if you don't first take care of and love yourself. Hmmm what do YOU think? As always thanks for listening and please share the show link!
I've done many shows about domestic violence. I've even put together Resilient, a book about overcoming domestic violence. So it should come as no surprise at all that I would have this particular guest on the show. Marian has lived a life of domestic violence of one kind or other and is one of the co-authors of Resilient. Today she works to educate others about domestic violence and through her own example shows how it is never too late to have a happy and healthy life. I know you'll enjoy hearing about Marian and her story. As always thanks for listening!
Does life need to be difficult in order to achieve eventual success? Do you absolutely have to give up having a personal life in order to have a successful business? Do you think life is just one test after another? What if we've been doing it all wrong? What if life should be easy and beautiful and kind in order to achieve true success? We're going to be discussing these questions and most likely much more on today's show! Please share the show and follow us on social media! My guest today is Penny Wilson. Penny is the mother of three, and has two beautiful grandchildren. Recently retired from nursing, she lives in Kentucky with her fiancé Don, and their three eccentric cats. In 2002, she began her professional career after earning her Associate Degree in nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. She went on to enter the fields of cardiothoracic and critical care nursing. In 2011, her practice expanded, allowing her to care for terminally ill and actively dying patients. This gave her the opportunity to provide support through often neglected end-of-life transitions. As each soul passed into the spirit world, she found herself examining her own beliefs about death and what lay beyond. It was not until her own near-death experiences, that she decided to leave nursing and pursue writing as her life’s work.
My guest today is a remarkable young lady, Muskan Virk. Muskan Virk came into this world as a miracle after her parent's 16 years of marriage. At the young age of six, Muskan learned about the injustice that Malala Yousafzai (the Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate) had gone through, and was devastated. She was propelled to take action and wanted to make a difference. She started by raising funds to donate to the Malala Fund and other local charities. However, despite the difference she was already making,Muskan didn’t want to stop there. She asked her mother incessantly about why there was so much gender inequality. In order to shift her thoughts on this subject to a more positive state, her mother gave her a journal and encouraged her to write one thing every day that she was grateful for. She wanted Muskan to focus on all the positive things in her life. As time passed, her mother forgot about the journal, until Muskan came to her later with a journal filled with all of the things she was grateful for and how she had transformed her negative thoughts about gender inequality into positive thoughts on how she can use her influence to make an impact.?They both were inspired to share this with the world, and so chose 365 to create this beautiful book.
Writing on Air Radio Show Join Carol with her Guest Kellie Fitzgerald as they discuss her book "When on The Road to Enlightenment, Don't Forget to Take Out The Trash" and her other adventures (ventures) in writing. Kellie Fitzgerald has arrived at this particular point in her life by taking the scenic route, often filled with pitfalls and new beginnings. She tells people in her workshops and interviews "I did not have an idyllic childhood, this lead to my not having an idyllic first marriage which lead directly to my experiencing a number of illnesses and other negative events." Once Kellie escaped that very abusive first marriage she began living a spiritual path, only to find herself fighting for her life as surgeries followed illnesses and bouts of depression threatened to push her over the edge completely. Once free of abuse and in better health Kellie began starting businesses of her own. While some were successful, many were not and her continued battle with both physical and mental illnesses made periods of her life very difficult. Kellie has started over from scratch again and again throughout her life emerging each time stronger and more determined that before. Currently she owns a real estate brokerage, the Positive Transformation Network which is an internet radio station, and her true passion-project IbbiLane Press, a rapidly-growing hybrid publishing company created with the author in mind. Today we will be talking about coming face-to-face with your past. What do you do when your past is in front of you? We won't necessarily be talking about a situation that brings up your past, nor will we be talking about situations that keep our past in our present (like a parent who has to deal with an ex because of children). We will be talking about a true blast-from-the-past where you aren't prepared to have a visit from the before. We will be talking more about when you see a person, or someone who was in your life at that time, who you happen to run into at the grocery store or on social media after years of no contact. We'd love to hear from you! So, please comment on the show, feel free to share it with others and let us know if there is a topic you'd like to hear us discuss on future shows! My guest today truly needs no introduction as most likely you've seen his posts or even Monster Motivator TV all over social media! Dave Daley is a motivational speaker of another type...there's really no one quite like him out there talking to the masses about overcoming fear and living the life of their dreams. So rather than continue on with an lengthy introduction that's really not needed we'll get right to busting through fear barriers and going boldly toward your dreams. As always thanks so much for listening!
For months now we've been seeing people pretty much at each other's throats over what should be disagreements to be discussed. There's an increase in consumer complaints relating to poor customer service and in many cases these complaints are about the customer being completely disregarded and disrespected. In schools we hear teachers talking about students who have a complete lack of respect for teachers and other students. There's even a teenager who is now getting her own reality tv show simply because of her bad attitude and lack of respect for everyone including herself. So, guess what today's show is about? lol RESPECT! As always thanks for listening!
If you'd like to join in the conversation you can do so by calling 646-716-9645! Today we're talking about feelings of frustration, stress, anger and all those other things we feel from time to time that we view as being "negative emotions." Whether you are someone who always strives for perfection or you've been raised thinking you have to conform to whatever society deems "successful" or even if you've never really bought into or cared what society thinks - we've all had to face our inner demons in the form of emotional turmoil. We'll talk about how these emotions we all think of as being "negative" really are very positive in nature and can help propel us toward our goals. As always thanks so much for listening!
You want to get into shape, you want to start and/or grow a successful business...you have the best of intentions, right? What happens? You hear all those entrepreneurs, coaches and others saying you have to "do whatever it takes to succeed" but you see others saying you need to take time out for YOU. All of this creates internal contradictions and we believe this is really what makes people give up before they even really get started. On today's show we're talking about these contradictions and how we've personally worked through them. As always thanks for listening
My guest today, Joseph Holmes, is a survivor of adolescent sexual, emotional and physical abuse who has a very simple message and says his story is really "everyone's" story. Joseph's message is spiritual, not religious and it’s about going for your dream by listening to our hearts and intuition, by tuning into what our angels are telling us. Then faithfully acting upon that wisdom. Enthusiasm and inspiration are nothing. They come and go. If one believes, however, then miracles occur. In 1991 Joseph's life turned upside and a nervous breakdown followed by a period of deep depression ushered in his “dark night of the soul.” Over time he became aware of the angels around him, most notably Mary Magdalene (“Maggie”) with her Love Notes For Your Soul, began in earnest.
I am thrilled to have one of my best friends on this Valentine's Day show! Jody Doty has been on before but she's accomplished so much recently I wanted to have her back on to catch everyone up. Jody is known as a Soul Reader. A term I know confused some of my listeners when she was on before so we'll start off talking about what exactly a "soul reader" does before moving on to her incredibly beautiful book and two amazing calendars, plus how you can book your own session with Jody! As always thanks so much for listening!
We're starting today's conversation talking about "intention" and we'll see where we end up! If you like our show, please share the link! We'd also love to hear from you! You can find us throughout social media so please reach out! As always thanks so much for listening!
We've talked quite a bit about abundance on this show, but one thing we've never really talked about in any length is debt and how it impacts our self-esteem, self-love and confidence. As someone who has wrestled with my own debt of various types at various points in my life I can tell you how negative or positive (yes debt CAN be positive) your debt is and how you personally view your debt can have a tremendous impact on how you view yourself. So that's our topic today...at least that's where we're starting! As always, thanks so much for listening!
Through the years I've had many different types of entrepreneurs on this show. Everything from those people who like myself had been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug early in life and knew they could never be anything other than an entrepreneur to those people who discovered the joy of being in business for yourself after retiring from a long corporate career. Today's guest is somewhere in the middle of those two extremes. Tom Ladegaard is an attorney by trade, which you might find surprising after hearing about this business and his reasons for starting it. How often have you wished you'd written down what an elderly family member had said while they were alive? How many accomplishments have you wished were more carefully documented? Tom has an innovative way of preserving memories and much more and I know you will enjoy hearing from him. As always, thanks so much for listening!
