Another day, another prospect offered by Indiana Hoosiers basketball, this time with 2023 guard Freddie Dilione being handed a scholarship offer. IU continues to be very active on the recruiting trail and Dilione is only the latest. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) looks at Dilione and why he is a prospect soaring up ranking boards. With IU already having a pair of guards committed to the 2023 class, it is interesting that Dilione is someone Mike Woodson is targeting. Khristian Lander also found a landing spot next season as he'll play at Western Kentucky University. He is the fourth and final former Hoosier to find him next school after transferring from IU after the season, joining Michael Durr, Parker Stewart and Rob Phinisee. Xavier Johnson's wild season is the focus of our penultimate individual season recap for the men's basketball season. For two-thirds of the season, Johnson was as inconsistent a player as any before putting together a 10-game run to close the year that was as good as any guard in the Big Ten. The show wraps by looking forward toward Johnson's final year in Bloomington, which will - in the short term - have a cloud hanging over it with his police charges that underline maturity issues he's had over the last year. But if he can build off his finish from last season, he could form a daunting backcourt pairing alongside incoming freshman Jalen Hood-Schifino. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Pickens is one of several wide receivers who will likely be the Colts pick, and if history itself the Colts could get a Pro Bowler! GREAT weapons have been taken in the 40s over the last 10 years! All of the IU Basketball transfers have landed, minus Khristian Lander. Where might he be headed? I have an off the wall idea! Jerry West needs to grow a sense of humor immediately. HBO's "Winning Time" is not a documentary, and no one believes he was a boozing, profane, tortured soul. It's funny - leave it be. MLB umpire Angel Hernandez should be fired immediately for utter incompetence for his ongoing pathetic work behind the plate, which hit bottom recently. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

They also look at the reported earnings for two of the stars of the basketball program in Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson. Then, in continuing with the individual season recap, they look at seasons from departing players in Rob Phinisee, Parker Stewart, Michael Durr and Khristian Lander. Two of the four - Phinisee and Lander - had huge roles in the Hoosiers' win over Purdue while Stewart struggled late after a strong start. Lander's season never got going and once he couldn't crack the rotation despite injuries in conference play, his fate seemed clear. The show wraps by looking at which players could step up and fill the minutes and roles vacated by the departing players. Tyreek Hill would look great in a Colts uniform, but the price was so high it will destroy the Dolphins chance to win. That should be seen as a win for Ballard. Former Rams WR Robert Woods chose the Titans, so the Colts were never in the game for a trade. Ball State should be on the phone this morning to Dane Fife about their vacant coaching position. He is going to be an excellent head coach - why not in Muncie. College Basketball's transfer portal needs to be adjusted, and so does the mindset of Indiana guard Khristian Lander! Chris Ballard won't overpay for a receiver, and that was a good thing today because the Dolphins did exactly that for Tyreek Hill today. Too much money for Hill and too many picks for the Chiefs. (at 7:19) Dane Fife is out as an assistant to Mike Woodson at Indiana University, which is not a surprise! Khristian Lander has entered the transfer portal, which is also not a surprise - but will not necessarily serve him well if he leaves. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

Khristian Lander was a high school phenom out of Evansville. The nation's top point guard in his class, he was destined to become a McDonald's All-American and leading contender for Mr. Basketball his senior year. Instead, he reclassified and committed to play for Archie Miller at IU.Arriving in Bloomington as a 17-year-old freshman, things couldn't have gone much worse for Khristian, the entire Hoosier program, or for a world thrown headlong into a pandemic. He struggled for playing time, and when he did make it onto the court things usually didn't go well. Simply put, Khristian lost his confidence. After the season ended and Coach Miller was let go, Khristian was ready for a fresh start and entered his name into the transfer portal. But then Mike Woodson came to town. Khristian soon recommitted to the Hoosiers. In doing so he has rediscovered joy in playing the game and has once again found his swagger. It's official! 5-star PG Khristian Lander has officially reclassified to the Class of 2020. Lander is a graduating junior in high school who was supposed to go into his final year of high school this coming fall. After extra work and paperwork to the NCAA, Khristian finished high school early, graduated, and will be attending Indiana University in the fall as a 17-year-old freshman in college. What does the reclassification mean for the Hoosier team next year? How will he fit into the program? How will his age and youth effect his play on the court? This week, the guys discuss all of those questions and more on an episode all about the "new" recruit Indiana has for this fall.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound • Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/the-hoosier-sound-iu-sports-po-1122885

Coach Mark Galloway had a Culver Military Academy team loaded with talent, none greater than his own son, Trey. In a conversation that took place mere moments after cancellation of the IHSAA basketball tournament, the Galloways discuss the frustration of a season that might have been. Soon, however, they reflect on happier times... from Mark's glory days as an outstanding player in his own right, to winning a state championship as father and son, their path is what basketball in Indiana is all about. MID-PODCAST the commitment comes out from Khristian Lander that he is committing to Indiana. Absolute HUGE week for the Hoosiers. Last week, we discussed how 1-1 against Minnesota and Penn State would be ideal, and not many people expected the Hoosiers to win BOTH games. Indiana got a Q1-win on the road against Minnesota as well as a statement victory over No. 9 Penn State for their second straight Q1 victory. The guys talk about how the Hoosiers are now firmly back in the tournament discussion with two big victories. There is still work to do, but everyone can momentarily breath a sign of relief. What do the Hoosiers need to do now in order to finish the season strong and not hold their breath on Selection Sunday?
