For years he tormented IU fans with his sarcastic wit and blunt honesty as a national recruiting analyst for 247. But no one could question his knowledge, connections or insight. Then, he crossed the line from analyst to become the director of recruiting for Micah Shrewsberry at Penn State before following Micah to Notre Dame for the last two years. Today's guest is none other than BRIAN SNOW.In this week's episode Brian gives us his perspective on the current state of college basketball in the world of revenue sharing and the changing world of NIL. Brian breaks down which jobs might now be the best in the country and we talk about Indiana's place in the ever-changing landscape.Brian breaks down what it was like to recruit against Indiana and what the overall perception is of the Indiana program while also getting into specifics on why it just did not work with Archie and Woody and why it very well could with new head coach Darian DeVries. Brian is a guy who does not beat around the bush and calls it like he sees it. Some of which is VERY positive for IU and its future while he also brings up some areas of potential concern. It is a wide-ranging conversation that covers a lot of ground with a guy who has the unique experience of being a national analyst and also a guy who was in the trenches recruiting for a power 4 school. Sure, we love to bust his chops, but can't argue with the man's knowledge! Indiana basketball fans got a couple pieces of legit offseason news with the release of the non-conference schedule and the program's first recruiting commitment under Darren DeVries. This edition of Assembly Call Radio, with hosts Coach Tonsoni, Ryan Phillips, and Andy Bottoms, breaks down what these developments mean for the new era of Hoosier basketball.Segment 1: Hoosier Headlines [00:00:00 - 00:29:59]After months of roster construction and staff building, the schedule release brings fans one step closer to seeing if DeVries' vision can translate to wins on the court. The big news is Prince Alexander Moody's commitment - the program's first 2026 recruit who represents the "DeVries prototype": a 6'4" shooting guard who fits the system's emphasis on floor spacing and shooting ability. Other headlines covered include the completion of DeVries' coaching staff, Anthony Leal's denied waiver appeal (ending his college career), and the mic'd-up practice videos showing coaches emphasizing fundamentals like ball pressure defense and proper spacing. The segment closes with a heartfelt thank you to Leal for his contributions to the program.Segment 2: Non-Conference Schedule Analysis [00:30:00 - 00:54:59]The hosts break down Indiana's 11-game non-conference slate, identifying four major tests surrounded by seven more manageable opponents. The marquee games include:November 9th vs Marquette (Chicago) - Early season test against a well-coached programDecember 6th vs Louisville (Indianapolis) - Neutral site against a top-20 preseason teamDecember 13th at Kentucky - The big one everyone's been waiting for, back at Rupp ArenaNovember 25th vs Kansas State (home) - Protecting Assembly Hall against a Big 12 opponentBoth hosts project a 9-2 non-conference record, with the Kentucky road game being the most difficult challenge. They praise the regional appeal of the schedule, giving fans concrete games to look forward to attending or watching. The conversation includes early bracketology implications and how this schedule sets up better than previous years' efforts.Segment 3: Mailbag [00:55:00 - 01:37:02]The final segment tackles listener questions about overall record predictions and the challenge of connecting with an almost entirely new roster. The hosts project an 11-9 Big Ten record (20-11 overall), which should be good enough for tournament consideration.A thoughtful discussion emerges around a fan's question about feeling disconnected from the program due to constant roster turnover. The hosts acknowledge this is a real challenge in the transfer portal era and share their own strategies for dealing with it - focusing on the style of play rather than individual players, and waiting until the season starts to really invest emotionally in the roster.Jerod Morris joins late in the segment to add his perspective on the changing nature of college basketball fandom and how the off-season feels different now with so much roster uncertainty.Plus, as always, thoughts on staff completion, the challenge of maintaining fan engagement in college basketball's new landscape, and early excitement about a different brand of basketball coming to Assembly Hall. That's all in this edition of The Assembly Call.On the mics: Coach Brian Tonsoni, Ryan Phillips, Andy Bottoms, and Jerod MorrisSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Dusty May Talk Starts at 1:00 Welcome to the Plodcast. This game had the awkward undertones of Mike Woodson getting "fired" and Indiana wanting to hire Dusty May. What's a better job, Indiana or Michigan? Indiana is home for Dusty but there's also a lot of pressure there. If Michigan needed the money to match, they could get it. He did turn down the Louisville job so maybe the biggest thing that would bring Dusty May back to Indiana is that his mom still lives in Bloomington.  [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP]  2. Men's Basketball vs Indiana Starts at 22:30 Once again it is the story of the season where Michigan gets a big lead and then suddenly looks like they forgot how to play basketball. Kenpom said Michigan would win by four so maybe we're overexaggerating. They've gone from a top 10 team to a top 25 team, so a 5-6 seed in the tournament. The turnover margin between the most turnovers and the fewest in the Big Ten is only four turnovers. Three point shooting was extremely frustrating. Gayle is driving to the basketball when he should be shooting a 3. Screwing up the foul on Goldin really hurt Michigan. Nimari Burnett's shooting percentages have simply fallen back down to earth.  3. Hot Takes and Men's Basketball vs Oregon Starts at 41:22 Takes hotter than the Indiana fanbase when Dusty May spikes a three hundred million dollar offer in their faces and says "I'm a Michigan man forever, babyyyy". Another game where Michigan had a double digit lead that they almost blew! Roddy Gayle got to the line a lot but also traveled enough that John Beilein would've ripped his esophagus out. Will Tschetter had a nice game and led the team in scoring. The bench players aren't quite ready and that's okay. Is Supreme Cook the best version of Brian?  4. Michigan Hockey vs Michigan State Starts at 1:13:28 Michigan picks up a split against the #2 team in Pairwise, getting one win was the best possible scenario. Both games were about the same but Michigan State actually scored in the second game. Michigan is a team of just guys. Nobody really pops besides Hage. The WWE aspect of these games in the 3rd period against Michigan State has become a bit much. Michigan has a 70% projected chance of making the field, which feels great right now. Is the most boring Michigan hockey team in memory? This isn't a bad team, they're just not the team last year that booted Michigan State out of the tournament. Pre-season expectation was to hopefully make the tournament and that hasn't changed.
