The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team has been active in the fall recruiting window with trips to the Montverde Academy and Overtime Elite, among other locations. IU is clearly targeting some of the top names in the 2024 and 2025 recruiting classes. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) is joined by Jason Jordan (@JasonJordanSI), director of recruiting for Sports Illustrated, to catch up on all the prospects the Hoosiers have watched so far this fall. Derik Queen is one of the names most often on the lips of Hoosiers fans as he remains a top target in the class of 2024 because of his potential to reclassify to 2023. Naas Cunningham, one of the top recruits of 2024, received an offer from Indiana last week in a bit of a surprise. Likewise, Tyler Betsey is a sharpshooting wing that is quickly rising up prospect rankings and one that the Hoosiers also offered last week. The show wraps by bouncing around to another handful of standout recruits the Hoosiers have targeted. The Montverde duo of Liam McNeeley and Asa Newell are both top-20 recruits with the former set to visit IU this weekend. The Overtime Elite duo of Bryson Tiller and Jayden Williams also have drawn plenty of interest from the IU coaching staff as well. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The fall recruiting period is open and Mike Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers basketball coaching staff have been extra busy. Not only have they been all over the state, but the group has also bounced across the country to the likes of Montverde Academy, IMG Academy and Overtime Elite. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) brings the latest information from the recruiting trail. While the future is at the forefront, IU did announce a Pro Day for the basketball program set for Oct. 7, giving NBA teams a chance to see the team up close this fall. Shifting the focus to recruiting, a pair of Class of 2024 prospects received scholarship offers this week. Wing Tyler Betsey is a sharpshooter with size but the big name is No. 1 recruit Naas Cunningham received an offer from IU on Tuesday. Woodson, Yasir Rosemond, Brian Walsh and Kenya Hunter have bounced across the country from Indiana to Ohio to Atlanta and Florida recruiting prospects this week. The quartet met at Montverde Academy on Tuesday to see 2024 big man Derik Queen, one of the top priorities for the staff. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! While the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team has missed out on a number of 2023 recruits recently, they are putting themselves in good position for a couple of big names in the 2024 class. IU is building the early relationships with Flory Bidunga and LIam McNeeley that could pay off in the long run. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) is joined by the Director of Basketball Recruiting for Sports Illustrated Jason Jordan (@JasonJordanSI) to talk about the latest happenings in Hoosier basketball recruiting. Losing out on both TJ Power and Jamie Kaiser this week has placed an emphasis on landing Arrinten Page to wrap up fall recruiting. Looking past the 2023 class, Flory Bidunga is slated to be the next big prospect from Indiana and the Hoosiers have made early in-roads on him. The Kokomo big man has risen up draft boards and could be a huge get for IU down the road. Likewise, the Hoosiers have started early on recruiting Liam McNeeley, a top prospect in the 2024 class from Ontverde as well. While Bidunga is rising up draft boards this summer, McNeeley is a known elite player that would be a huge difference-maker for any program. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team missed out on another 2023 recruit in Jamie Kaiser on Wednesday. The sharpshooter picked the Maryland Terrapins over IU on Sunday, making it two prospects in as many weeks to skip over Indiana University. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) reacts to the news of Kaiser staying home with Maryland. While it's an understandable decision for Kaiser to commit to the program he grew up rooting for, is it time to worry about IU's recent recruiting losses? Tom Allen's first media availability since the start of fall camp led to a big update on DJ Matthews. The speedy wide receiver is expected to be ready for Week 1 after his knee injury last season, a big win for the IU football team. The show wraps by looking at the latest way-too-early top 25 from ESPN that features the Hoosiers at No. 15. The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team has made headways into the Class of 2024 by landing a visit with one of the top prospects. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) dives into everything about McNeeley's visit and him as a prospect. The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team has missed out on top prospect Xavier Booker in the Class of 2023, so what's in store for them next? A trio of targets have emerged and could be the next step for IU and coach Mike Woodson. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacobo Rude (@JacobRude) is joined by the director of basketball recruiting for Sports Illustrated Jason Jordan (@JasonJordanSI) to talk about a number of topics. While Booker is out of the picture for Indiana, a number of targets remain. Each of Jamie Kaiser, Arrinten Page and Deshawn Harris-Smith remain priorities for IU moving forward in the Class of 2023. But as much fun as it is to look at the future, the Hoosiers do have a pair of recruits already committed for the 2023 class. Gabe Cupps is the more well-known prospect of the two and is someone that is only continuing to rise up rankings this summer. The show wraps by also looking at Jakai Newton, the other prospect the Hoosiers have landed in 2023. Newton is an explosive player capable of the highlight reel plays while also being a knockdown 3-pointer shooter. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team lost out on top in-state recruit Xavier Booker over the weekend. Over the weekend, the top-ten ranked big man in the Class of 2023 chose Michigan State over a number of schools, IU included. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) reacts to the news of Booker turning down the Hoosiers. It was pretty clear even prior to his decision that Booker valued the relationships built during his recruitment and IU was behind the ball on that front. One of the few standouts of the IU football team will be cornerback Tiawan Mullen and Pro Football Focus (PFF) agrees. The senior was ranked the No. 8 CB in the country in PFF's preseason rankings, a sign of just how big of a year it could be for Mullen. After spending a healthy amount of time recruiting the 2023 class, Mike Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers basketball program dove head first into the 2024 class and started at the top. IU offered one of the top prospects in the 2024 class and one of the top prospects in the state of Indiana on Wednesday. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) discusses the recent visit of 2023 recruit Jamie Kaiser and the trio of offers for 2024 recruits, including Bidunga. One of IU's top targets in the 2023 class, Kaiser completed his visit at Indiana this week and it sounds like it was a good one. The Hoosiers are looking to keep the momentum rolling by offering Bidunga as well as big Jesse McCulloch and wing Caleb Williams. Turning back the clock to earlier in the week, we revisit some of the comments made by Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren at the conference's media day on Tuesday. Warren spoke about the upcoming media rights deal that is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks and could be enormous with the addition of the Los Angeles market. Elsewhere, the trio of Jamier Kaiser, Arrinten Page and DeShawn Harris-Smith all are set to take visits to IU this week. With the Big Ten/ACC Challenge set, how does the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team match up with the UNC Tar Heels? And can IU hang with one of the top teams in the country next season? In a special crossover episode today, Locked on Hoosiers host Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) and Locked on Tar Heels host Isaac Schade (@isaacschade) discuss the IU-UNC game set to highlight this year's Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Hoosiers have had the upper hand against North Carolina in the previous regular season in meetings in Assembly Hall. However, it's been the Tar Heels that have bested the Hoosiers in the games that have mattered most. A pair of big men in Trayce Jackson-Davis and Armando Bacot will highlight this year's match-up. With the NBA shifting away from old-school big men, matchups like TJD vs. Bacot could become more commonplace in college. The episode wraps by looking at the realignment madness going on across college athletics, including the big news of USC and UCLA joining the Big Ten. Isaac reacts as an outsider looking in on the latest news and whether we're set for a pair of superconferences. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team saw the last big missing piece of its non-conference schedule filled on Tuesday with the report of the team traveling to Xavier for the Gavitt Games. Knowing that, the vast majority of IU's schedule for next season can be pieced together. On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) reacts to the report of the Hoosiers traveling to meet the Xavier Musketeers next season. It's a different team that the Hoosiers have not played in recent seasons and only historically have played a small handful of times. Having their opponent for the Gavitt Games now, it's easy to piece together what IU's schedule will look like, including a much tougher non-conference slate this season. The increased strength of that non-conference schedule also serves as the latest reminder that Indiana is better off having gotten out of the Crossroads Classic. The show wraps by previewing NBA free agency with a number of former Hoosiers set to enter it on Thursday. Thomas Bryant, Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller all are unrestricted free agents while Juwan Morgan could enter free agency if the Celtics turn down his player option.
