Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to reporting from Steelers insider Gerry Dulac that the Aaron Rodgers signing and George Pickens trade this offseason were unrelated events as far as coach Mike Tomlin, GM Omar Khan and the front office were concerned. Was it wise to think of the moves separately? Or would it have been interesting to see Pickens work with a veteran like Rodgers across from DK Metcalf? And what should we make of external evaluations that have the Steelers with one of the worst WR rooms in the NFL without Pickens? As Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson and Robert Woods look to fill the void he left?
Jarrett Bailey is back with a loaded show. For starters, a recent report indicates that Aaron Rodgers played a role in the Pittsburgh Steelers trading George Pickens. Plus, Jaire Alexander signs with the Ravens - what does this mean for Pittsburgh? And DeShon Elliott gets a much-deserved extension.

That is a common phrase Justin Pickens has heard in his life. With one of the highest Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) scores you can receive (9), the odds said Justin should be on drugs or dead. Justin was the first member from his dad's side of the family to graduate from college and has since earned two masters degrees. For the past 13 years, Justin has served as a teacher and coach for multiple sports. He's a father, husband, educator and motivational. Most importantly he is a dealer of HOPE. This week on the Going Deep podcast, Brandon Angelo and Matt Waldman discuss George Pickens in Dallas, an RB whose talent is rotting on the vine, a QB talent imprisoned in a run-heavy offense, and late-round/UDFA rookie receivers making a good first impression in camps. https://youtu.be/QYJROOSAgww Going Deep will feature podcasts twice a month. You can either watch/listen on YouTube, listen from the player at the bottom of the page, or download the podcast at most outlets, including Google, Spotify, and iTunes Note: If you have difficulty playing the podcast, download it. Topics George Pickens' fit and fantasy value in Dallas. Dak Prescott's likely value with the Pickens addition. A massive RB talent who will rot on the vine with his team. A team that should trade for this RB talent and the WR they should give in return. A rookie TE we expect to earn a starter-caliber fantasy season. A quarterback whose fantasy value won't live up to his NFL value for as long as the current regime is in power. Jimmy Horn, Konata Mumpfield, Dont'e Thornton, Jordan Watkins, and Isaiah Neyor have all made strong first impressions in OTAs. Whose rising value is more than superficial? Now entering its 20th season, learn more about Matt Waldman's RSP — the most in-depth analysis of offensive skill position players available (QB, RB, WR, and TE). Or if you already know the deal, go ahead and pre-order (you know you want to) for $21.95. Matt's new RSP Dynasty Rankings and Two-Year Projections Package is available for $24.95 If you're a fantasy GM interested in purchasing past publications for $9.95 each, the 2012-2024 RSPs also have a Post-Draft Add-on that's included at no additional charge. And could Rod Woodson, Mike Hilton, Mel Blount, Troy Polamalu and Minkah Fitzpatrick form a fearsome defense? Our duo tackles those questions, offers thoughts on the end of another week of uncertainty around Aaron Rodgers and George Pickens' comments upon joining the Dallas Cowboys.

May 12, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 133 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the press conference that Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan had over the weekend that mostly revolved around the team's decision to trade WR George Pickens last week. We go over what Khan said about the wide receiver room moving forward and much more. The Steelers were able to get six of their seven 2025 draft picks signed to rookie contracts over the weekend, so Alex and I recap those moves and the expected timeline to get DT Derrick Harmon, the team's first round selection this year, signed to his deal. The Steelers reportedly agreed to sign RB Trey Sermon and OL Gareth Warren following both trying out during the team's rookie minicamp this past weekend, so we address their addition to the team. Alex and I go over a few other takeaways from the team's rookie minicamp based on quotes from players. We spend a little bit of time talking about rookie RB Kaleb Johnson and we go over some early stat projections for 2025 when it comes to him. We also estimate how much Johnson might eight right now based on pictures from this past weekend. 2025 is a big year for WR Roman Wilson so Alex and I discuss the outlook for the team's 2024 third round selection out of Michigan. Pickens was back in the news on Sunday, so Alex and I go over why he was and what he allegedly posted on Instagram, which was framed as him taking a shot at the Steelers for being cheap. We talk about how the Steelers aren't allowed to be cheap when it comes to cash spending over a three-year span. Might the New Orleans Saints be a possible landing spot for veteran free agent QB Aaron Rodgers now that QB Derek Carr has decided to retire? Alex and I attempt to answer that question later in this show. This 83-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. We end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners of the show. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The George Pickens trade (mostly) brought to an end a busy offseason movement period for wide receivers. Davante Adams, D.K. Metcalf, Cooper Kupp, Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel, and Christian Kirk all find themselves on new teams. Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin and Metcalf all signed big extensions. Ten receivers, including Travis Hunter, were selected in the first 70 picks of the NFL Draft, and reliable veterans like DeAndre Hopkins, Tyler Lockett and Josh Palmer also found new homes. What's the state of the wide receiver landscape after all that movement? Which groups improved the most? Which ones have us a bit concerned? And which ones are we sneaky excited to watch this season? Robert Mays and Derrik Klassen run that full route tree on this episode of The Athletic Football Show.Host: Robert MaysCo-Host: Derrik KlassenExecutive Producer: Michael BellerProducer: Michael BellerSubscribe to The Athletic Football Show...AppleSpotifyYouTubeFollow Robert on Bluesky: @robertmays.bsky.socialFollow Derrik on Bluesky: @qbklass.bsky.socialFollow Robert on X: @robertmaysFollow Derrik on X: @QBKlassTheme song: HauntedWritten by Dylan Slocum, Trevor Dietrich, Ruben Duarte, Kyle McAulay, and Meredith VanWoert / Performed by Spanish Love SongsCourtesy of Pure Noise / By arrangement with Bank Robber Music, LLC Hosted on Acast.
