Text us and say hello! In episode 32 of "Backwards Compatible," we're thrilled to welcome back Odian Levy as we dive into the vibrant and inventive world of "Super Mario Bros. 3." After a short hiatus, we're eager to explore this cornerstone of the Mario franchise, discussing everything from its innovative power-ups to the diverse array of worlds and the memorable Koopalings."Super Mario Bros. 3" wasn't just a game; it was a cultural phenomenon, heavily promoted through TV commercials and famously featured in the movie "The Wizard," which showcased its gameplay and teased its secrets well before many had the chance to play it. This extensive promotion helped cement its place in gaming history before most fans even held a controller.During the episode, we marvel at the rapid evolution in gaming technology and design that took place between the release of the original "Super Mario Bros." and "Super Mario Bros. 3." It's astonishing to think about how, in just a few short years, Nintendo not only improved upon the original but revolutionized it with superior gameplay, graphics, sound, and creativity.Join Odian and me as we delve into why "Super Mario Bros. 3" is often hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time, offering an unmatched blend of challenge, innovation, and fun that continues to influence the platforming genre decades later.Support the showWe've got merch!Check out the site for some awesome Gen 'S' swag :)
Well, the idea was cartoons about celebrities, and we did that. But we also tapped into a very specific pool of celebrities, it turned out. Matsy has to watch The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, featuring young Koopalings who were still trying to figure out who they were and two very special guest stars who were not who they seemed. And Micah is watching Hammerman, which definitely has who it seemed to have as a celebrity star, but maybe didn't have as much as you'd think in the way of... I don't know... animation? Plus, Matsy is playing a video game in which you have to catch 'em all while wondering who caught all the frames per second and where they hid them, and also watched a thing on Netflix called Oddballs about some guy and an alligator and a toaster, while Micah watches a movie about someone who did parodies of songs by both our celebrity guests, on the same album! Weird! Cartoons in this episode: The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, "Do the Koopa / Kootie Pie Rocks" Hammerman, "Defeated Grafitti"

So today, let’s set the card battle system aside, forget the Sticker Star 2 comparisons, and just see how this aspect of the controversial title can be improved - on this episode of Boss Battle Breakdown!

So, you know how Bowser Jr. can be any of the Koopalings? They aren't "Echos," just cosmetic variations with the exact same moves. How likely do you think Isabelle's alternative colors could be other Animal Crossing characters? Or do you think they would have mentioned it in the reveal if it was possible? Question for @Nightcrawlr724 You have mentioned your kids (or kid) a couple of times in the podcast... How do you manage to smash and play other games while raising your kids? Is there a particular age where you had trouble keeping up? Question coming from a New dad here :). Hey, gang, I’ve been wondering something. The stage morph option looks super fun and I’m looking forward to using it when I’m playing with my brothers and whatnot but I couldn’t really wrap my mind around this one part lol. If you select two random stages for stage morph, does that mean you’ll bounce between Smashville and Luigi’s Mansion is those are your two selected stages? Or does that mean you’ll be on a random stage every single time? Random stages on a random timer would be SOOOO wild Smash Tips: Scot96 twitch.tv/scot96 Start of game/Neutral -Jab -Walk -Shield on approach, be wary of powershield timing. -Look for the shield, grab. -Projectile to force a shield or jump. -Focus on frame data. Advantage -Wait patiently with a lead, no matter how small. -Hold shield and react to their options from ledge. -Stand still and react to their tech get-ups. (Look for roll in on better opponents.) -Trap the landing/frame trap. -Take the guaranteed damage and move back to a safe position. -Abuse shield and react to run up grabs with spot dodge. -Pressure them into the corner/don’t run away when pressuring. -Save kill moves until the percent threshold you know they will kill in or in the situations, they are most effective. With the holidays approaching -- and with their childhood home facing the threat of a terrifying wildfire -- Teddy and Emma take a moment to count their blessings, Berenstain Bears-style, and rank their top ten fictional families ever. Some of the ohanas on their lists include: the Corleones, the Chipmunks, the Lannisters, the Brady Bunch, the Koopalings, Clan McDuck, and the Klumps. In addition, Em and Ted answer such pressing fictional family questions as: "What do 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Coco' get right that 'Moana' got wrong?", "When there's four grandparents in a bed, where does everyone put their feet?" And "Why does adding a baby always make the family suck?"
