We finally made it to one of Malmö's oldest drinking establisments. Bullen was founded in 1897 and has continued to sling beer and simple dishes. Over the years it's evolved into a Malmö mainstay. We've been going for years. It never fails to provide a good time. They specialize in importing beers from Czech Monastery Zeliv. Based on their website, they are the only bar in the world where you can get these beers on tap. We start out with Poutovy Special Jirikovo Videni a 5% ABV Polish grodziskie. We never see these anywhere so of course we had to try it. Falco 14 is a 5.5% ABV dark larger. It's light, roasty and always a treat. #beer #craftbeer #drinks #grodziskie #darklager
While we prepare for Season 16 of the podcast, we're taking a break from our Fire Time Magazine Rapid Reaction series to reply a conversation that Tim had with Grant Falco about the first step to build a heartbeat report for your company—the weekly traffic count. Here are the original show notes: Many leaders judge the well-being of their businesses purely based on feel. This works great until it doesn't—and then you're left scrambling to figure out where things went wrong. Imagine if, instead, you could have your finger on the pulse of your business so you could prevent problems before they happen. In today's episode, Tim and Grant discuss traffic count—the first of the four keystone metrics that make up the heartbeat report. Traffic count (door swings) is the metric that Tim credits for bringing him where he is today. In this episode, you'll learn: How you should track traffic in your business (this—once implemented—will give you a ton of information). How tracking traffic will allow you to align your inventory with what customers actually want (this is exciting to see when it starts to happen). Why having a human track traffic is almost always better than a stale metric produced by a computer (this is something that took Tim and Grant a while to understand). Stop judging the well-being of your business entirely on feel. Instead, build a heartbeat report that tracks key metrics and gives you the complete picture. Want to get started? Just press play. -------- Become a supporter of The Fire Time Network and get access to awesome rewards: https://itsfiretime.com/join To hear more audio articles from our magazine, subscribe to the Fire Time Magazine Podcast: https://www.itsfiretime.com/magazine.

This week we're talking about that guy again… The 2nd episode focused on EDGUY in another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. A German power metal band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”. This episode starts at the peak of their provocative power metal prowess and ends with their evolution to a hard-rocking power glam powerhouse. They did well in Europe and other parts of the world, but we think they Shoulda Been Huge in the States! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. A German band that followed in the footsteps of Helloween, flying the flag of “Power Metal” from the late 90s to 2014. Unfortunately, they were never really recognized to the degree they deserve outside of Europe. We think they SHOULDA BEEEN HUGE… and we are ready to fly that banner proudly! Songs this week include: Edguy - “Mysteria” from Hellfire Club (2004) Edguy - “Superheroes” from Superheroes – EP (2005) Edguy - “Rocket Ride” from Rocket Ride (2006) Edguy - “Nine Lives” from Tinnitus Sanctus (2008) Edguy - “Lavatory Love Machine (Live)” from Fucking With Fire (Live In Sao Paolo 2006) (2009) Edguy - “Pandora's Box” from Age Of The Joker (2011) Edguy - “Love Tyger” from Space Police – Defenders Of The Crown (2014) Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

Listen to this episode in English here. Katy Brodsky Falco is the Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation for Women's Health. She comes to this work through an equity lens, having worked in criminal justice reform for 20 years. After surviving both HELLP syndrome and breast cancer, Katy was horrified to learn about the long history of inequities in rigorous research of women's health. Seeing how clearly the public sector failed to close the gender equity gap in health for decades across both democratic and republican administrations, she created the Foundation for Women's Health as a private sector solution to not only equalize research funding for diseases across gender, but also across disease. Katy has built and managed non-profit research organizations for leading academic institutions for the past decade. She was the Executive Director of NYU School of Law's Criminal Justice Lab, and prior to this, she was Executive Director of Crime Lab New York, a criminal justice research organization based at University of Chicago. She was also Executive Director of Reentry Services at the NYC Department of Corrections and a staff attorney at Legal Aid Society in the Criminal Defense Division. Katy attended Harvard University for her BA and NYU School of Law for her JD.

Keanu Reeves steps onto the field as Shane Falco, a former college star turned boat-washing nobody, who gets one last shot at glory when a strike forces the Washington Sentinels to fill their roster with misfits, oddballs, and outright lunatics. We break down the film's best moments, from the jailhouse dance scene to Gene Hackman's grizzled wisdom, and we debate whether this comedy holds up as one of the great football flicks or if it's just a guilty-pleasure popcorn watch. Of course, we pair it with some booze-worthy brews as always — because no Sentinels game is complete without a cold one in hand.
I hear it as soon as I step out of the car, that resonant, knocking cucucu that I've been listening for all across Montana this summer. Black-billed cuckoo! My hands are shaking and my heart is thumping. I slip one headphone on, aim the parabola, and press record. The cuckoo keeps singing. The black-billed cuckoo is a bird of many mysteries. In this podcast I delve into the biology and wonder of this bird, from the western edge of its breeding range in Montana, USA to the even more mysterious wintering distribution in Colombia and Ecuador. Many thanks to Anna Kurtin (University of Montana) and Dr. Camila Gómez (SELVA, selva.org.co) for their participation in this story, and to their research teams for all of their contributions to our understanding of cuckoos. Thanks to Harriet Marble for telling me about a possible black-billed cuckoo report near the Highwood Mountains, which finally allowed me to observe one! Finally, thanks to Tim Spahr for his permission to include his black-billed cuckoo song and flight call recordings in the podcast, and to Ian van Coller, Bo Crees, and Peter Dudley for letting me include their photos in the written version.Besides Tim Spahr's black-billed cuckoo song and calls, this podcast also includes many of my own sound recordings from Montana: black-billed cuckoo (Coccyzus erythropthalmus), black-headed grosbeak (Pheucticus melanocephalus), great horned owl (Bubo virginianus), yellow-breasted chat (Icteria virens), orchard oriole (Icterus spurius), northern house wren (Troglodytes aedon), eastern warbling-vireo (Vireo gilvus), Baltimore oriole (Icterus galbula), western wood-pewee (Contopus sordidulus), common nighthawk (Chordeiles minor), American kestrel (Falco sparverius), and brown thrasher (Toxostoma rufum). Also an eastern screech-owl (Megascops asio) from Nebraska and a Middle American screech-owl (M. guatemalae) from Oaxaca, Mexico. As always, I depend on the support of my listeners to continue doing this work.
