Suddenly the Division III Men's and Women's Basketball Championship Tournaments are down to sixteen teams, each. It's a known result each year, but it's still stunning and the results this past weekend were equally as stunning. Tune into Hoopsville presented by D3hoops.com as we talk to those who either dominated or survived through regional play. Most of those we talk with today were either pulled off at least one upset or once again proved they know how to win in March. And five years ago, the DIII tournaments, like everything else in the world, ceased. Teams were ready to play the next round of tournament games, but instead went home. It left so many "what-ifs" and predictions on who may have been crowned 2020 National Champions. D3hoops.com Around the Nation Columnist Ryan Scott took the time, shortly after the shutdown, to prognosticate how he would have seen the tournaments play out. Guests appearing on the Hudl Hoopsville Hotline: - Alyssa Polosky, SUNY Geneseo women's coach - Brad Fischer, No. 11 UW-Oshkosh women's coach - Ryan Scott, D3hoops.com Around the Nation columnist - Marcus Kahn, Mary Washington men's coach - Aaron Kelly, Catholic men's coach - Will Bartoszek, Austin Brewer and Matt Brackett, Hardin-Simmons senior forward, senior center, and men's coach

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Tournaments and brackets are set. The new NPI was the source of all the selections and mock brackets had different ideas than what were revealed. So how did the national committees come up with their brackets and decisions on who to play where and when? Plus, we hear from teams dancing in the tournaments for the first time in a long time. Tune into the Hoopsville Bracket Breakdown as Dave McHugh is back in studio and rolling his sleeves up on the national tournaments. We chat with both national committee chairs about the brackets. We also talk to four hoops programs who made some waves in the final days and weeks of the regular season and are still playing in March. It's all part of a special Tuesday matinee of Hoopsville presented by D3hoops.com. It is an annual event. The regular season is officially over and teams eagerly wait to see where they may be playing in the NCAA Tournaments, but it is different this year. We know who has made the tournaments, so there is a bit more time to look at where teams may end up on those brackets and where they may play. Tune in to the annual Hoopsville Selection Sunday Special hosted by Pat Coleman tonight (Dave McHugh is away on a business trip). Pat will have interviews with teams who have clinched their bids automatically or may be nervously waiting to see how the final NPI numbers work themselves out for at-large selections. Plus, hear from both national committee chairs on the landscape they see in front of them and their committees as they try and bracket with new priorities and perspectives. When advice goes wrong...My daughter is an avid soccer player. On a recent cold and dark Saturday morning, I was standing on the sideline cheering her on at a match - the priceless perks of being a dad.At some point, the opposing team coach was shouting to their players, "You need to defend better!" And all I could think to myself at that moment was, "That's terrible advice." Not because they were defending well - rather the opposite. But, I mean, "defend better" - would you know what you're supposed to do? Should I press higher, get closer to the attacker, make more forward runs? This type of advice often just leads to more confusion and coordination problems. Now, in design, we also get this type of well-intended but counter-productive advice all too often.Want a classic example? How about "designers need to understand business"? No sh*t Sherlock. We hear this ALL the time.Very rarely does someone go beyond the surface and get specific about what "understanding business" actually means.Fortunately for us, we have someone on the Show today who does - Ryan Scott. Ryan has an impressive track record in design, but he also holds an MBA degree. This combination is quite unique and gives him the ability to look at challenges from different perspectives with empathy for both sides. So in this episode, we unpack what it actually takes to bridge the gap between business and design. You'll be surprised to hear how many skills you already have to make this crossover successfully. It's not easy, but it's not as hard or distant as you might think, either. MBA degree not required. So, if you've ever felt frustrated by the lack of respect and appreciation for design from "the business side," this conversation might just hold the clue on how you can turn that around.I've always said that designers can be some of the best salespeople. It's really time that we start using this power to our advantage. Because we are all selling already, every single day.Enjoy and keep making a positive impact!~ Marc--- [ 1. In a decisive and official maneuver, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has taken the legal step to dissolve her marriage with Ryan Scott Anderson, ending a union that lasted just shy of two years. This development, confirmed by the reputable source PEOPLE, marks a significant turn in Blanchard's personal saga, further substantiated by the Lafourche Parish Clerk of the Court via an email that pinpointed the filing time at 1:58 p.m. local time. Annette M. Fontana, serving as the Lafourche Parish Clerk of the Court, conveyed the procedural steps forward: "The filing has been sent to the assigned Judge for review and to schedule any hearing dates if necessary," ensuring the case is progressing through the judicial system as intended. The initial announcement of their separation was made by Blanchard herself, through a statement shared with PEOPLE from her private Facebook account on March 28. This disclosure came three months following her early release from prison, revealing a time of transition and personal reflection. Blanchard openly shared, "People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am." This statement underscores her journey towards self-discovery and the importance of familial support during challenging times. Amidst these developments, Blanchard's close friend and tattoo artist, Nadiya Vizier, age 22, revealed to PEOPLE a pivotal argument that precipitated the end of Blanchard's marriage. Vizier recounted, "He got in her face and screamed," a confrontation that triggered fears of physical violence, fears informed by Blanchard's traumatic past experiences. However, Blanchard acted swiftly to ensure her safety and legal counsel was promptly consulted, highlighting her resolve to protect herself and move forward from the altercation. Following her separation, Blanchard reconnected with her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker, a gesture symbolized by their decision to get matching tattoos. This act of reconnection was described as "very cool" by Urker's mother, Raina Williams, to PEOPLE, showcasing a supportive network rallying around Blanchard during her time of change. The backstory of Blanchard and Anderson's relationship is complex and intertwined with Blanchard's prior conviction and imprisonment. The couple's initial connection was formed while Blanchard was serving a sentence for her involvement in the death of her mother, Clauddine “DeeDee” Blanchard—a case that cast a spotlight on the abuse Blanchard endured and the tragic outcomes of Munchausen by proxy syndrome. Their relationship, maintained through correspondence, culminated in a modest jailhouse wedding in July 2022. Blanchard's parole release on December 28, 2023, after serving eight years, marked a new beginning and a transition to a life with Anderson that Blanchard anticipated with both excitement and uncertainty. Reflecting on her life's trajectory, Blanchard expressed her unfamiliarity with cohabitating with a man, given her upbringing by her mother. This sentiment was echoed by her father, Rod Blanchard, in a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, where he voiced a preference for his daughter to have delayed marriage until she had fully acclimated to life outside prison. He affirmed his support regardless of the marriage's outcome, highlighting the unconditional love and hopes for Blanchard's happiness. In a move to navigate her new circumstances with discretion and focus on personal growth, Blanchard, in March, deleted her public social media accounts. This decision, advised by her parole officer, was aimed at minimizing potential complications that could jeopardize her parole status, demonstrating Blanchard's commitment to moving forward responsibly and thoughtfully in her post-release life.
