Here is the monthly show for our residency at Xbeat Radio. Broadcasted 21:00 CET the last Monday of each month. Please support the artist by sharing, liking and commenting the set.
I LOVE YOU.....
Please welcome my guest on this week's episode, Matthew Thomas Baker, who holds an MBA in creative writing, a Master in psychology and counselling an has not only been the educational leader of an innovative High School for the Arts for approximately 25 years but also a member of the International Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids and the founder and spiritual director of the Institute of Nondual Shamanism. He just quite recently published an exceptional book ‘The Way of the Mystic Wizard' which will be the main topic of our conversation. Growing up in Massachusetts right next to a forest upon undeveloped land surrounded by animals, Matthew spent plenty of his time outdoors and practiced nature mysticism before he even knew there was an actual term for it. In High School, a book on Zen poetry and the initiatic work ‘Siddharta' by Hermann Hesse deeply influenced him and so after entering college Matthew was pretty much fascinated by philosophical and spiritual ideas which ultimately made him taking courses in mythology mainly with an exceptional teacher who introduced his students to the huge diversity of belief systems all around the world challenging them to think outside of the box. Matthew will kindly allow us some insights into his book ‘The Way of the Mystic Wizard' which is based on his 15 years teaching about poetry, myth and the art of transformation in his school. He will explain how his personal work comes from a more organic place instead of one of separation, what the real meaning of Shamanism is as part of the world's heritage, how his teaching style includes not only poetry and symbolism but also Jungian psychology and guided inner world journeys and what positive (!) role the pandemic played in turning his teachings into a book that is now available to a much bigger community than before. As Matthew's book is titled ‘The Way of the Mystic Wizard', we will explore the archetype of this figure and the book's structure which is quite similar to a course written for people with little to no experience offering an access point to anyone interested to find out if this path might be the right one for oneself. In this context we will go into detail and try to answer the main questions such as ‘Why should I start a spiritual practice at all, what's in for me?', continuing with the omnipresent task of ‘Know Thyself!', discuss the necessity of what it takes to break through invisible barriers, how cosmology, poetry and journaling tie in with all this and most importantly, how the changes within effect everything else without. My guest in this episode is hermeticist Rufus Opus, whose work is widely known in occult communities, especially his Red Work Course and his book ‘Seven Spheres', a manual on planetary magic that teaches how to open up gates and provides the working magician with initiatory experiences. Rufus Opus grew up in a mid-western fundamentalist Christian environment where bible studies were naturally part of his childhood. At around age 7-8 he started to realise that Christianity with its passive attitude did not grant him experiences with the divine and that there had to be something different out there. It was when Rufus moved out of his parents' house at age 18 that he dived deep into occultism with ‘The Big Blue Brick', ‘Prometheus Rising' and ‘Twelve Lessons in High Magick' and turned it into a part of his day-to-day life building up strength and discipline. In this latest episode of our show we will discuss if and why the bible belt seems to give birth to magicians in a rather interesting way, and how Rufus who calls himself an ‘amateur explorer' became the well-known and highly-respected expert he is. Indeed, the influences Rufus Opus received on his path were pretty diverse and we talk quite a lot about how they seemed to point him to the system of German Benedictine abbot and polymath Johannes Trithemius based on a 16th century grimoire. Of course, we explore the Trithemius system's particularities and Rufus explains how they led him to his career as a blogger and ultimately to his Red Work Course being created. In our conversation we will explore the reasons why Rufus chose an alchemical way of teaching in the very first place, how ‘Seven Spheres' was born out of it and why ultimately the Red Work Course was put into the hands of his most trusted and qualified former students. We close the episode with Rufus' most recent projects, to be found on two different websites, one where he teaches occult knowledge to budding magicians and one where he aims to provide a framework and place for teachers of occult knowledge and tradition in order for them to get through to their audiences. As Rufus is currently working on a new book, he'll also give some glimpses into the idea behind it - spoiler: it's all about love! LINKS to Rufus Opus' webpages: www.rufusopus.com - www.appliedhermeticsllc.com - www.academiahermetica.com Music played in this episode Remember in Episode 5 of this season, when I told you about KRISTER LINDER? Well, today three more tracks from his latest album "Across the Never", which he offered me to play on this podcast. And stay tuned, more is to come later in the season! As a little reminder, I repeat his online bio here: Elusive Swedish-Congolese Artist / Producer Returns from The U.S. With an Album of Dirty Gold. His music sets the tone in award winning feature films. Global fashion giants such as H&M, Fendi, Agent Provocateur and Chanel battle it out with his sound. But the man himself is not easily found. Now 13 years after the solo debut “Songs From the Silent Years,” sound alchemist Krister Linder resurfaces with a new album; self-produced in New York, mixed in Los Angeles and mastered in Stockholm. With gold records and radio hits from various projects dating back as far as the late eighties, plus a substantial body of work in the 90's Stockholm underground electronic era (under an array of pseudonyms like Tupilaq, Yeti, Solaroid etc), Linder has been a prominent but equally mysterious figure on the Swedish music scene. After winning the awards for Best Music For Film (for two consecutive years in a row) at the Stockholm International Film Festival, Linder in 2009 decides to sell his stuff and cross the Atlantic to subject himself to a whole new existence – in a land and city where he has neither a past, track record or advantage.
My guest of this episode is someone quite a few of our listeners may already know a bit, initiate and author Nick Farrell who just published two new books, we'll be talking about in the show. But firstly, our conversation starts with the changes of our days due to the pandemic and how it influenced and still does magicians and magic all over the world. We explore how a pretty dangerous form of polarisation seems to have taken over making people form tribes in more extreme ways than before adopting a hunt-and-kill-mentality. However, we also discuss the role of the balanced magician in this weird game and reflect on the need to look at different ideas before acting on them. Of course, Nick's latest book, ‘Star and Stone', a ground breaking work about geomancy and its connection to astrology will be a central topic in our episode. We'll be talking about the origins of geomancy, how it evolved as elemental theory was applied to it and how it was used for horary charts in terms of interpretation. We'll be exploring its advantages compared to other divination techniques such as the tarot as well. Part of our conversation will cover the modern purposes of this specific divination method on a magical level too such as checking on ritual working outlines before one is to implement them as geomancy is able to offer real black and white perspectives. We'll also be looking at some interesting parallels and differentiations between the geomancy, the I Ching, Golden Dawn watchtowers and Enochian chess as well. You'll have the opportunity to learn about Nick's second book too - actually a recently republished one that hasn't been available for reasonable prices for quite a while – ‘Mather's Last Secret'. It offers a collection of the papers of the Alpha & Omega Golden Dawn organisation which used to be Crowley's temple at the time he left the Golden Dawn. Nick is going to tell their highly fascinating background story and opening up about the motivation to publish them and how they can be used by modern day practitioners in order to get out the most of them. Another very important topic will be the need for orders and rituals to develop if not wanting to fall apart or become meaningless repetitions of the same story until no candidate is able to relate to them anymore and ultimately plunging into being lost and/or forgotten. The art of how this development has to take place is of course a different matter altogether as there's a delicate balance between sticking to certain words and/or movements ‘due to tradition' and letting things get out of control completely ‘due to innovation'. Nick will finally give us a glimpse on his upcoming book projects where quite a few are in line having waited patiently until he finished his amazing book on geomancy that I personally can't recommend highly enough for anyone interested in divination in general. Music played in this episode It seems to me already like if I had a new little "sensation" to announce for our musical program here on this podcast. I am extremely happy and proud that the music here has also become a bit of a trademark of this show and it makes me even happier that more and more of this music comes from YOU, the listeners!! And today the musical gift is quite spectacular. Its creator contacted me to send me his new album to use on the show. And you bet I am happy about that!!! So, today's music is by KRISTER LINDER. Let me cite his website for you: Elusive Swedish-Congolese Artist / Producer Returns from The U.S. With an Album of Dirty Gold. His music sets the tone in award winning feature films. Global fashion giants such as H&M, Fendi, Agent Provocateur and Chanel battle it out with his sound. But the man himself is not easily found.

«Artist Of The Week» — эклектичный сет, записанный для Frisky Radio (New-York). Underground Sound Of Lisbon «So Get Up». April 30th 2013 - we have a new King! After 33 years Queen Beatrix (1938) is now... King Willem-Alexander (1967) and Máxima (1971) of course as his Queen. Reason enough for us to play some tracks on this very special day today and welcome you to an Orange-tinted country. To celebrate the past and future: it’s the Final Queensday in The Netherlands. “Lieve Moeder...” words by Willem-Alexander to thank Beatrix, his mother, is followed by a remarkable track performed by Krister Linder. There’s only one way to experience this song: play it loud! So many tones and details, so much beauty can be heard and the voice of the heart comes from Krister. Superbe! Sonne, ist das neue Schiller album. Guten Abend! After watching the Bluray we just wanted to treat you with at least two tracks; Revelation and Berlin/Moskau can be found on the latest album ‘Sonne’. You can buy the release in many variations, from deluxe till super-deluxe. The typical Schiller style, just very spacey, great sounding and perfectly mixed. We have one suggestion though: Schiller should pay more attention to his live performances in the sense of keeping those acts more compact, more to-the-point and having a tempting climax, all within 90 minutes. Possible? Just a thought. The F.D. Project plays ‘The Outro’ and has the old-style sound and vibes, never boring, always pleasant to listen to. We found the release from a couple of years ago ; ‘Song for the Phoenix’ by System 7, the band based around Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy; they started in the 90’s with their typical sound-baths as we call them... tons of sounds, tons of patterns, delays, hypnotic ingredients and .. fat and pumping bases! The ‘Phoenix’ track is one you will never hear on the radio, read our lips. Therefore we wanted to give you this hint so you can enjoy their album ‘Phoenix’ as we do. East of France, Mulhouse, the Hypnotique LIVE sessions part 4. Released via Ultimae.com - in one word: brilliant LIVE stuff! So very well mixed and mastered; SCANN-TEC delivers an outstanding piece of art, the sounds of man (Vladislav) and his machinery (too much to mention). Go get this one today! We’re completey lost in time now... listening to Asheni you simply have to admit: life sucks sometimes. Or is it good to know the pain, then to understand Quality Time even better? You decide. Asheni’s voice is fabulous. She (from Spain?) can be found on the iTunes Store to keep things simple. Like it was meant to be... Krister comes back again, his track ‘Ghostfriend’ sounds like an answer to the ‘Lost in Time’ track. Enjoy this flow... The track comes from the album ‘Songs from the Silent Years’ which we got from Krister personally when we visited London back in 2006, we had a meeting, small chat, hands and this CD, just before a LIVE gig. Thank you Krister! We’re still proud of your music. We’d like to thank our supporters, our donators, our executive producers. Wanna join the team? Please feel free to support the Spacemusic podcast.
