Logan Cohen (@Logansee) and Benny Hart (@BennyInc) sat down to chat about how Logan's amazing business, Kudzoo, came about. Logan talked about the process of building product, the importance of getting great feedback, and how she used pitch competitions to fund her idea
Logan Cohen is the CEO & Co-founder of Kudzoo, the app that pays students for their grades. It’s a free mobile application that rewards students with deals, giveaways, scholarship opportunities, concert tickets, and once in a lifetime experiences based on students’ grades and achievements. Logan is a TEDx speaker, was named to Forbes 30 under 30 in Education, CIO's Female Entrepreneurs to Watch, among other designations. I genuinely enjoyed this conversation. Logan and I talk about all aspects of the app building process from ideation to getting it to market to where it is now that she’s a few years in. I loved how honest and transparent she was around everything - from mistakes she’s made to what she wishes she did differently, and even how ed tech wasn’t a passion for her until after she started the company. She’s a lifelong learner and I just really love Logan’s style - so please enjoy my conversation with Logan Cohen. We talk: A to Z App Building: Ideation to Creation (and after!) How she found her passion Pitching & Fundraising - how to raise money for an idea Pitfalls of being a non-technical founder Personal branding to build a business Resources & books that have helped Logan on her journey (& more!) -------- *FREEBIE: For those who don’t know, I’ve been hot on building brand on LinkedIn for pretty much every industry. Education has always been a driving force for today’s guest, Logan Cohen, CEO of Kudzoo App. Whether it's educating herself about the complexities of others or encouraging tomorrow’s leaders through her app, Kudzoo, Logan is always pushing herself to grow and encouraging others to grow alongside her. In today’s episode, Logan reminds us that we not only have to know our strengths, we also have to own them on a daily basis. It’s easier than ever to constantly feel like you’re constantly falling behind, especially when comparing ourselves to others. In these moments, it’s important to notice the fears that are driving us and focus on the ways we can conquer them rather than letting them conquer us. In fact, understanding our fears may be the best place to start when it comes to understanding others. Logan is insistent on creating space to listen to others, regardless of their position relevant to her because she knows that she will always learn something new. This is what makes us stronger people. When we listen and understand, we create possibilities. When we create possibilities, we succeed. Some Questions I Ask: Did you always know you were going to become an entrepreneur? (01:31) How did you start blending yourself with being an entrepreneur? Did you ever lose yourself in the company? (04:53) Did you ever feel any pressure to change yourself to fit in with the mold of the typical Silicon Valley founder? (09:45) Talk about being “your own worst enemy,” can you share some of your internal dialogue to overcome this? (17:03) Are there any fears that are driving you? (28:58) What are the challenges of being an ambitious woman who is “crushing it” in so many parts of her life? (32:45) In This Episode, You Will Learn: Logan’s upbringing and the inspiration she drew from her parent’s accomplishments (02:21) The strength Logan has to connect with and learn from people (08:57) How Logan grew her education rewards system for students, Kudzoo (13:45) The way Logan widens the space between stimulus and response by trying to understand (21:49) The mantras Logan uses in her day to day (36:04) The things we can take with us into tomorrow (38:26) Plus much more... Women Who SWAAY Podcast - Weekly Conversations With Women Challenging The Status Quo
Today on Entreprenrurs en Vogue, we are closing out an era. As a final guest, Iman speaks with her longtime friend and fellow female entrepreneur Logan Cohen. Why would students need motivation beyond the grades? That’s a question Logan asked herself until she met her founder, and it opened her eyes to a new world - and a need that was not fulfilled. They created Kudzoo, an app that rewards students who get good grades. Logan talks about all the behind-the-scenes work you need for a reward-based app, tricks for getting funding, and above everything else - believing in yourself. Thanks to everyone who listened to and supported this podcast over the past 2-and-a-half years. Keep an ear our for further ventures, and keep on being a rock star!
Alright everybody it’s about that time! This week on The GrUBcast we’ve got part 2 of the From the Chi to the Sky GrUBcast with Trevor and Cody Wilkins! Once Cody and Trevor are two young brothers from Chicago currently working on their own startups. Cody is also a comedian and Trevor recently made it in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 for his work education. In all of our lives we go through numerous points of transition in school, location, and growth in general but we take the time to reflect on those key parts of our lives. In this second part of our conversation the Wilkins brothers discuss their lives after college, the importance of celebrating small victories, and the struggles they dealt/deal with in trying to be adults in the world. Major thanks to the Wilkins brothers again for a truly amazing conversation and a special thanks to my guy Josh Hall for making this whole episode possible. You can check out Cody’s start up, The Up Next at theupnext.com and Trevor’s startup, Kudzoo, at kudzooapp.com. Go show your support! Happy Easter! After four years on BlogTalk Radio, The KUDZOO Radio Hour is moving. Tonight will be our final show on Sunday night. However, KUDZOO will remain on the air in a new one hour format, airing Saturdays at 8 PM/EST on wildmansteve.com. Wild Man Steve has a great online station 24/7, playing an eclectic mix of music - not a bad track in the bunch. And the sound is crystal clear! Steve DJs M-F mornings, and he hosts a ton of great shows like The Grateful Dead Radio Hour. Check him out! And join us Saturday, April 26th!Tonight we welcome back and old friend as surprise guest co-host! Our special guests tonight is the band HORNBUCKLE. Brian & Michael Hornbuckle cut their teeth with their father, Denver blues guitar legend Bobby Hornbuckle, on stage as his back up band. In 1996 Bobby “went home.” Michael put down the sticks and inherited his dad’s Gibson; perhaps a piece of Bobby’s soul and his ability to play guitar came along with it. Since then, the blues rockers have shared stages with everyone from the Doobie Brothers (at Red Rocks Amphitheatre) to The Allman Brothers, Ted Nugent, Joe Walsh, Gov’t Mule, Styx, Bad Company, Z.Z. Top, B.B. King, Def Leppard, Lynyrd Skynyd, James Brown and list goes on. We are happy to have the guys on as our special guests tonight during our final Blogtalk broadcast.
