Many women spend hours building pitch decks, collecting data, and rehearsing persuasive talking points for negotiations—only to unintentionally weaken their position the moment they enter the room. The issue often isn't the ask itself, but the posture from which it's made.In this second-part episode, Joan Moon and women's leadership coach Stephanie Aitken continue their deep dive into the hidden behaviors that quietly weaken your negotiating position. These patterns are so ingrained. Often praised as being “helpful,” “loyal,” or “easy to work with”, most women don't even realize how much influence they're giving away before the conversation begins. The good news? Once you recognize them, they're entirely fixable.ABOUT THE GUESTStephanie Aitken is a consultant, trainer, speaker, and coach, as well as the founder of Stephanie Aitken Consulting and the Gender Harmony Collective, an initiative designed to move beyond traditional gender equality toward true inclusivity. With over 25 years of professional experience, she began her career as an in-house lawyer for MTV and Channel 4, working on major projects such as the MTV Music Awards, Apple iTunes, and Stand Up to Cancer.Driven by her passion for people's growth, she retrained in neuro-linguistic programming, coaching, and transformational facilitation, later delivering interpersonal skills training for organizations including Network Rail, Dentons, Fieldfisher, and Barclays. She went on to serve as a lead trainer at One of Many, then the UK's largest women's personal development company, where she guided large groups through transformational programmes and honed her expertise as a speaker and facilitator.Stephanie now specializes in women's leadership development and inclusive workplace strategies, creating targeted coaching, workshops, and organizational programmes that accelerate women's careers while fostering environments where equity benefits everyone. Her mission is to evolve gender equality into a model where all employees can thrive, amplifying both individual potential and organizational success.MENTIONED IN THE EPISODE:⚉ [Article] Are You Taking on Too Many Non-Promotable Tasks? - https://hbr.org/2022/04/are-you-taking-on-too-many-non-promotable-tasks —This podcast is a call-in show, so if you or a woman you know needs help in this area, feel free to contact me at joan@moonnegotiation.com to submit your questions or join me in our next episode. In this episode of SpaceTime, we explore groundbreaking discoveries that reshape our understanding of Mars, the Moon, and the Milky Way Galaxy.Ancient Oceans on Mars: Geological Evidence RevealedA new study published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters presents compelling geological evidence that Mars' Northern Hemisphere was once home to a vast ocean. Lead author Chris from the University of Arkansas discusses how comparisons between river rocks on Earth and Martian sediment reveal ancient river deltas and backwater zones, suggesting that liquid water flowed on the Red Planet, increasing the possibility of past life. This episode delves into the processes of sedimentation and erosion that shaped Mars' landscape, providing insights into its watery past. The Moon's South Pole-Aitken Basin: Unveiling Impact MysteriesA fresh analysis of the Moon's largest impact crater, the South Pole-Aitken Basin, sheds light on its formation and the Moon's geological history. Researchers have discovered that this massive crater's shape indicates an impact from the north, challenging previous assumptions. As the Artemis missions prepare to land near this basin, they will have the opportunity to study material excavated from the lunar interior, potentially unlocking secrets about the Moon's evolution and the asymmetries in its crust.Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescope: Mapping the Milky WayNASA's upcoming Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescope is set to revolutionise our understanding of the Milky Way's interstellar medium. This mission will map around 20 billion stars, using infrared light to penetrate the dust clouds obscuring our view. Chief investigator Catherine Zucker explains how this data will refine our models of star formation and the galaxy's structure, while also addressing the ongoing mysteries of galactic spiral patterns and their role in star birth.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesGeophysical Research Lettershttps://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/19448007Naturehttps://www.nature.com/natureNASA Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescopehttps://roman.gsfc.nasa.gov/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-your-guide-to-space-astronomy--2458531/support.Ancient Oceans on Mars: Geological Evidence RevealedThe Moon's South Pole-Aitken Basin: Unveiling Impact MysteriesNancy Chris Roman Space Telescope: Mapping the Milky Way(00:00) Evidence of ancient oceans on Mars(10:15) New insights into the Moon's largest impact crater(19:30) The upcoming Nancy Chris Roman Space Telescope mission(27:00) Science Robert: Heatwaves and their impact on global mortality

Germany is home to nearly a million Black people today, yet their history has often been erased from public memory. In this episode, we uncover the lives of Benedikt Gambé and Charlotte Rettig, two Black artists who lived in Berlin under Nazi rule. He detained and dead by 1940, she fleeing to Copenhagen and surviving. Their stories reveal how race shaped everyday life in Nazi Germany, how Black people were marginalized, and why their persecution has remained largely invisible. With Robbie Aitken and Tiffany Florvil, we explore Black presence in Germany from colonial times to the Nazi era, the cycles of forgetting that followed, and the echoes of racism and erasure in Germany today. Why do some people seem to glide through negotiations while others feel stuck, frustrated, or overlooked? Why is it that even highly capable professionals—especially women—sometimes walk away from opportunities undervalued and underpaid? The truth is, negotiation isn't just about what you do in the room, it's also about the habits and mindsets you bring with you long before the conversation starts. In a recent discussion, women's leadership coach Stephanie Aitken and I unpacked the subtle but powerful traps women often fall into when preparing for negotiations. The insights highlight not just what to do—but what to stop doing if you want to position yourself for success.ABOUT THE GUESTStephanie Aitken is a consultant, trainer, speaker, and coach, as well as the founder of Stephanie Aitken Consulting and the Gender Harmony Collective, an initiative designed to move beyond traditional gender equality toward true inclusivity. If you've ever known anyone who's going through a divorce, if you're considering divorce yourself, or are in the early stages of making that decision, this episode on surviving divorce is for you. My guest today is Certified Divorce Coach® Laila Aitken Ali. Laila is known as the Split Coach, and she helps people (especially parents) to restructure their lives and relationships post-breakup so they don't get stuck in old dynamics and reactive patterns. You'll Learn:The first thing to focus on when you learn or decide that you're getting a divorce (it's probably not what you think)How to create clear boundaries and effective communication with your co-parentThe powerful word Laila likes to use when talking to kids about the end of a marriageWhy you are all your child needs to thrive post-divorceWe're talking all about how to take care of yourself and frame the situation for your kids, as well as support people in your life who are dealing with separation and divorce.-------------------------------------Laila is also the co-founder of Split.fyi, a digital platform and supportive community helping people move through divorce, co-parenting, and major life transitions with clarity, confidence, and strategy. Laila's work is deeply personal. She went through her own divorce while pregnant, and that raw, life-altering experience pushed her to build the very kind of support she wished she had - one rooted in emotional truth, practical tools, and human connection. That journey shaped her mission: to help others navigate the emotional chaos of separation while creating structure, strategy, and a new sense of self along the way. She's known for her warm, no-BS approach and her fierce belief that breakdowns can become powerful turning points - which you know I love! The First StepsWhen a marriage ends—especially when kids are involved—the experience can be deeply overwhelming, emotional, and disorienting. If you're facing the start of a divorce, whether the decision was yours or not, it's easy to get swept up in shock, fear, and a rush to fix everything right now.Laila describes it as feeling completely “sideswiped”. One moment you think you know your life's direction. The next you're questioning everything, from how you'll manage parenting alone to where you'll live and how you'll support yourself. The key takeaway in these first days? Press pause on “doing” and prioritize your own wellbeing. Yes, your kid is always first and foremost. But sometimes, that looks like doing what's best for you so that you can show up for them.Laila says, “You have to think about things in all aspects. But you can't think about them all at once.” The first thing you should deal with is not money, not custody arrangements - it's your wellbeing. The divorce process moves slowly, and you actually have a lot of time. Because when you are in fight-or-flight mode, you're not able to make clear, healthy decisions. You've got to deal with the thoughts and feelings that are coming up, like blaming the other person, thinking that you've failed, feeling angry, sad, or afraid.Just like grieving people are advised to avoid major life moves in the immediate aftermath, with divorce, there's wisdom in allowing yourself some breathing room instead of forcing immediate, big decisions. This is when you give yourself lots of grace and permission to focus on just being okay. And don't personalize. It's normal for one or both people in a divorce situation to be hurt and grieving. And hurt people often hurt people. When your ex is pushing against your...

Managed Access Programs (or MAPs) enable mechanisms for patients with unmet medical needs to get access to new medications outside of the clinical trial setting and well before marketing authorisation and reimbursement in a patient's country. Also referred to as Expanded Access Programs and Early Access Programs, these programs are not limited to the US. In a new pharmaphorum podcast, web editor Nicole Raleigh speaks with Suzanne Aitken, SVP of managed access at Clinigen, discussing the role of managed access programmes in the current pharmaceutical landscape. Aitken explores the challenges around regulations, guidelines, and terminology, which vary considerably from country to country, making it difficult to navigate and understand what is available and what is not. Nick and Mark always enjoy your feedback and questions, and we've got some rippers today,We start with a message from Timmy, who has sent in a video of his swing and is after some tips on where he can improve, and he has a question around a soft or firm grip.Aitken has a question about whether, if it was an option 30-years ago, Nick and Mark could have played LIV in Asia and qualify for majors via OWGR points, they would have done so in order to remain Australian based rather than move to America.Jeff has just discovered the podcast and watches on YouTube, he has given Marks pre-shot routine from a few weeks ago a crack and has seen a real improvement in his game - great news! And we've been hearing the ads , and seeing the ads, for Links Hope Island over the last couple of weeks which has given us an idea. We've been talking, and we've had a few suggestions from wolfpackers also, about doing a Talk Birdie To Me golf day of some kind. Maybe a Talk Birdie tournament where wolfpackers can play, Nick and Mark play, Dan might even have a crack (massive hack) and we put a feed on, have a catchup, a live Q&A, few stories - and Mark, as the only member of the team who has played Links Hope Island, reckons that would be a perfect place to do it.There's only one slight challenge we've not run it by the Links Hope Island team, so it might go pear-shaped....but we'll try to get the boss on the pod, and see if we can convince him that it's a good idea.Okay back to the feedback. Message from Jonathon about playing in bad weather, which leads to a Mark story about the legendary Peter Thomson - it's a ripper. Message from Matt who played with 9-year old Jasper in the Rossdale Open, and got absolutely rinsed.Damian has a question for Nick about his Top 5 finishes from last week, he reckons Nick missed an obvious one, and Mark doesn't miss a chance to use Grok again....he has an addiction to Grok, it's quite ridiculous, and Grok proves on this occasion to be completely useless. And we finish with a question from Fezz about amateur golfers and handicaps. We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best. In this episode of SpaceTime, we unlock the secrets of the Moon's far side, explore the Sun's helicity barrier, and discuss the European Space Agency's advancements in orbital launch vehicles.Extended Volcanism on the Moon's Far SideRecent findings reveal that the Moon's far side has experienced extended volcanism for at least 1.4 billion years, with two significant volcanic phases occurring around 4.2 and 2.8 billion years ago. This research, stemming from samples collected by China's Chang' E6 mission, provides insights into the Moon's geological history and the asymmetry between its near and far sides. The study highlights the role of colossal impacts in shaping the Moon's interior and suggests uneven distribution of volatile elements.Discovery of the Sun's Helicity BarrierA groundbreaking study has identified a region of the Sun known as the helicity barrier, which plays a crucial role in heating and accelerating the solar wind. Observations from NASA's Parker Solar Probe have confirmed the existence of this barrier, providing insights into the mechanisms of turbulent dissipation and coronal heating. This discovery helps explain temperature anomalies in the solar atmosphere and enhances our understanding of space weather events that impact Earth.European Space Agency's Launch Vehicle DevelopmentsThe European Space Agency has narrowed its list of potential candidates for future orbital launch vehicles. The selected companies will receive funding to develop their systems, aiming to increase competition and choice in European launch services. This initiative mirrors efforts by NASA in the U.S. to foster a diverse range of commercial launch providers, enhancing capabilities for future space missions.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesNature Journalhttps://www.nature.com/naturePhysical Reviewhttps://journals.aps.org/pr/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.
