David stood before Jonathan, a bit in shock, to say the least. His friend, the prince of Israel and the heir apparent to the throne, had just removed his royal robe and given it to David—the symbol of his princely position. Then he removed his weapons, symbols of his authority and leadership as second-in-command, and his belt, which would have held all his wealth and treasure as a rich, powerful warrior. He willingly and humbly handed them over to his best friend. In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef examines Jonathan's humble response to the rise of David. Keith Hess grew up in a Christian family but began to question whether or not what he believed was real or true. His doubts went unanswered for years until he was finally introduced to solid reasons for belief. Everything J. P. Moreland writes is wonderful, and this book is no exception. In a section of the book called "How to Develop a Mature Christian Mind," he discusses seven traits of the empty self, a growing problem in America that threatens the life of the mind.
The apostle Paul lived a cruciform life for the good of others, to the glory of God. He loved his neighbour because he loved his God. He cared about the ultimate good of others because he ultimately cared about God's glory. We see this in the text before us, which we will study under three broad headings: 1. Love Your Neighbour (10:23–27) 2. Love Your God (10:28–33) 3. Live Like Your Lord (11:1)
The great eighteenth century preacher and theologian Jonathan Edwards preached a sermon way back in August of 1740 that included some words to parents, educators, and the church which ring just as true today as when he spoke them almost three hundred years ago. Edwards said this: “Children ought to love the Lord Jesus Christ above all things in the world.” Jesus said the same thing this way Mark 12:30: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Whether we are children or adults, love for God is the very thing for which we have been made. As you consider this, realize that the culture is educating your kids twenty-four seven to love and serve themselves above all else. Parents, take stock of how your example and words speak loudly to your kids about what's most important in your life. Are you modeling the compelling lifestyle of Christian discipleship and loving Christ above all else?
The Lord your God has served you, so serve him with all of your mind, heart, and life.
Love the Lord, your God. Be careful obey so that it may go so well with you. Due 6
The evangelical world today suffers from apologetic anemia. Despite the fact that holy Scripture calls believers to give a reason for the hope we have in Christ (1 Peter 3:15; see also Jude 3), we sadly lack a public voice for truth and reason in the marketplace of ideas. We do not have a strong intellectual presence in popular or academic culture (although some areas, such as philosophy, are more influenced by evangelicals than others). The reasons for this anemia are multidimensional and complex. These are the six enemies, which the podcast addressed biblically. Jesus was many things, such as Lord and Messiah, but we may be hesitant to consider him a philosopher. I argue that given Jesus' coherent worldview and skill at argumentation, it is wise to both consider him as a philosopher and to look to him for intellectual inspiration. I pay close attention to Jesus' stellar reasoning abilities concerning two theological issues raised in Matthew 22. Resources Douglas Groothuis, On Jesus (USA: Wadsworth, 2003). Mark Visser begins a two-part mini-series looking at The Great Commandment. God has commissioned us to go into all the world and make disciples of all peoples, that is the Great Commission that Jesus has given to us, but why do we do it? That is the important questions to ask and answer. This is what Mark does by looking at The Great Commandment.

Today we are joined with our beautiful friend Emma Russell. We have known Emma for many years now and she was actually our English and drama teacher for three years in high school. We are so beyond grateful for her wisdom and kindness during school and her friendship after graduating. As a mum and teacher she is incredibly wise and has a lot to share. We hope from this episode you took away that you will face seasons of self doubt but just know Jesus has got your back. Also, sometimes in becoming a Christian you might not have a big grand testimony and that is totally okay. It doesn't matter how you find the relationship as long as you are committed to it. We will catch you guys next Saturday. This episode is brought to you by Stonebraker Lawyers. Visit stonebrakerlawyers.com.au to learn more.

Jesus commands us to "Love Your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Loving yourself so that you can give healthy love to others and receive healthy love is very important. God wants you to experience greater happiness and personal success. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Understanding the importance of loving God with the mind as well as the heart is foundational for flourishing during the university years. My guest in this inaugural show is Dr. J.P. Moreland. We discuss themes in his book Love Your God with All Your Mind: The Role of Reason in the Life of the Soul. Dr. Moreland is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. He has spoken to students and professors on over 175 campuses, and has authored, edited, or contributed to over 90 books and over 85 academic journal articles. In 2019 he was named one of the top 50 living philosophers. Few are as qualified to discuss this issue than Dr. Moreland. In this podcast we discuss: Why he wrote this book for the Christian community The importance of students knowing why they believe what they believe The correct definition of “faith” Why faith and reason are not opposites but complement one another The difference between a “faith tradition “ and a “knowledge tradition” Some challenges Christian students will face on campus, and how to respond How parents can help prepare their children to think Christianly during college, and how early to start How students can respond if a campus ministry is discouraging study and the life of the mind How to evaluate one's major from a Christian perspective The relationship of knowledge to wisdom, and the demise of teaching wisdom at college How to discern a professors' knowledge from a professor's opinion Responding to scientism Responding to relativism Resources to help students find answers to their questions Resources mentioned during our conversation: Loving God with your Mind: The Role of Reason in the Life of the Mind J.P. Today, we dig into what it means to truly love our God. We turn to the end of the Paul's letter to the Ephesians, where we are taught how to live our lives as Christians to the fullest, and to base all our love in Him, and give our lives back to Him. Ephesians 6:23-24 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
