One of the biggest crying needs of the day is a faith continuity from one generation to the next. There's nothing more important than seeing the hearts of fathers turning to the children, and the hearts of children turning to the fathers. This is prayer burden—asking for the Spirit to work through our families and churches, and to bring repentance. One way this happens is when men embrace their God-given responsibilities and callings on their lives as husbands and fathers, conscientiously and intentionally shepherding their wives and children. On this edition of the program, Kevin Swanson and Joel Beeke discuss Joel's new book, How to Lead Your Family: A Guide to Men Wanting to Be More, on practical ways men can be prophets, priests, and kings within their homes. This program includes: 1. The World View in 5 Minutes with Adam McManus (Indian legislator offers money to assassinate pastors, Texas Governor called for a Day of Prayer for flood victims, Iranian Christians losing hope about regime change) 2. Generations with Kevin Swanson

Send us a textGUEST: Dr. Joel Beeke, Pastor and Author, How to Lead Your FamilyFrom the very beginning, God established husbands and fathers to be leaders in their homes. This is to be a self-sacrificing and love-filled leadership, just as Christ loved and sacrificed for His bride, the church, the body of believers. As we approach Father's Day, what more important message can a husband and father hear than to fully embrace his call to lead his family for God's glory? This doesn't just mean rearing his children but shepherding his wife as well.Joel Beeke, former president and now chancellor of Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary and longtime pastor of Heritage Reformed Congregation in Grand Rapids, Michigan, joins us this weekend to discuss his helpful new book, How to Lead Your Family: A Guide for Men Wanting to Be More. The notable framework that Dr. Beeke sets forth in the book is that Christian husbands and fathers share in a limited way Christ's three offices of prophet, priest, and king. Joel will explain how this should play out in the home, as the husband and father loves and leads his wife and children. There is much biblical and practical wisdom for husbands and fathers in this short 80-page book and we will tell you how you can order a copy for a donation of any amount to The Christian Worldview. The interview was conducted this week halfway across the world, where Joel is preaching in New Zealand and Australia.---------------------------------How to Lead Your Family by Joel BeekeFamily Worship Bible Guide by Joel Beeke

Reignite your marriage: www.thedadedge.com/extraordinary-marriage In this powerful conversation, we explore: The art of emotional coaching for our children. How to raise daughters with strength and purpose. Why Paul refuses to leave his family's future to chance. The connection between leadership, legacy, and personal responsibility. Paul's journey reveals: Studies show that fathers who engage in emotional coaching have children with a 35% higher emotional intelligence. Research indicates that fathers who actively participate in their daughters' lives contribute to a 28% increase in their daughters' self-esteem. Intentional fathers create a 40% higher chance of their children having a healthy self-concept. Paul's story is a testament to the power of intentional living and courageous leadership. Get ready to be motivated to step up and lead your family with purpose. [Intro Hook – 0:00–0:15] Rashawn (looking straight into camera): If you feel called to lead your family better—but you're overwhelmed, unsure, or even discouraged—I've got 3 words of advice that could change everything. Let's talk. ⸻ [Word 1 – PRESENCE – 0:15–0:45] Rashawn: The first word is Presence. Your family doesn't need a perfect leader—they need a present one. Put the phone down. Look them in the eyes. Pray with your kids. Listen to your spouse. Being there is more powerful than saying all the right things. ⸻ [Word 2 – CONSISTENCY – 0:45–1:15] Rashawn: The second word is Consistency. Leadership isn't about grand gestures—it's about showing up every day. Small habits, repeated in love, create big impact over time. Lead devotions, speak life, say “I love you,” and do it again tomorrow. Your consistency builds their confidence. ⸻ [Word 3 – GRACE – 1:15–1:45] Rashawn: The third word is Grace. You're going to mess up. We all do. But grace says: “Keep going.” Lead with humility. Apologize when needed. And remember—God's grace covers you as you lead your home. ⸻ [Outro – 1:45–2:00] Rashawn: So if you feel called to lead your family—start with presence, consistency, and grace. You've got this. And more importantly—God's got you. Drop a “I'm in” below if you're ready to step up.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/faith-and-familia--3287906/support.
Gentlemen, imagine a man so humble yet so pivotal that even God Himself submitted to his leadership. That's St. Joseph, the Head of the Holy Family, and in this episode of the Manly Catholic Podcast, we're diving deep into what his title means for us today. Recorded on March 10, 2025, as part of our Lenten Reflections, this isn't just another history lesson—it's a wake-up call for every man striving to lead his family with purpose. We're peeling back the layers of Joseph's role to reveal a divine blueprint for leadership that's rooted in responsibility, not power trips. Curious how a carpenter from Nazareth can reshape your family life? Hit play and let's unpack this together. Here's what you'll discover: St. Joseph didn't flex his authority over Mary and Jesus—he served them with relentless dedication. We'll explore how he provided, protected, and led spiritually, offering a model that flips the script on today's warped views of male headship. Forget the outdated stereotypes; this is about stepping up as a man who sacrifices for his bride and kids, just as Christ did for His Church. I'll break it down with real talk—think less “tyrant” and more “first line of defense.” You'll hear insights from Dr. Dan Schneider on why submission isn't a dirty word but a call to action for men to shield and guide their families. And because I'm not here to just preach, I'm issuing you a challenge—yes, you! Pick one of these three actionable steps to start today: Provide Beyond the Paycheck - Spend intentional time with your wife and kids. Maybe it's a 15-minute chat with no phones or reading a story to your little ones. Show them you're present. Protect Like Joseph - Spot a spiritual or physical threat in your home—could be toxic media or a bad influence—and take one concrete step to axe it. Think cutting screen time or having that tough convo. Lead Spiritually - Kick off prayer in your house tonight. Lead a decade of the Rosary, read a verse from Scripture, or bless your kids with holy water before bed.3 Powerful Quotes“Headship is about responsibility, not superiority. St. Joseph didn't lord his role over Mary and Jesus, he used it to serve them.”“Men love your wives the way Christ loves his church and he lays down his life for his bride. We are called to lay down our lives for our families.”“A leader does not just think he moves. He takes action just like St. Joseph.” Be the spiritual initiator in your home. Don't wait for your wife or kids to drag you to prayer—take the lead like St. Joseph did. Start tonight with something simple: a “Hail Mary” with your family or a quick blessing. It's not about perfection; it's about presence. Your move sets the tone.Send us a text Support the showPlease prayerfully consider supporting the podcast on our Buy Me A Coffee page. to help grow the show to reach as many men as possible! God made men to be strong and to use our strength for the good of others. Particularly in the home, husbands and fathers must recognize our critical role in leading our families to worship the Lord. If we fail to lead well, we fail to love well. Drawing on a number of passages, the message is a call to own our role and lead in family worship.
Have you ever thought of yourself as a leader? You are! And no one you influence is more important than your family. Leading your family requires loving sacrificially, building trust, and cherishing each other's differences. Doing this fosters a family culture full of understanding, support, and leadership.“Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)“Leadership is influence. Nothing more. Nothing less.”John Maxwell

Does God promise to save my family? What does the bible say about having an unsaved family? Is it my responsibility to speak to them? And what if my family situation is complicated? There are many Christians who live in an unbelieving household, and we often find that the most challenging people to share our faith with is our family. In this episode of In The Fire, Danny and Louis discuss the importance of not undervaluing and disregarding our family members, while also learning to step out into uncomfortable conversations and to effectively share our faith with not just our words, but also by our actions.
It's one thing to honor your father. It's quite another to honor him while you work for him. In this powerful episode, Chris Alessi welcomes his good friend Caleb Thomas to the Family Business to discuss their experiences as sons who chose to work for their fathers in ministry. They open up about the honor principle that has guided their decisions as they each followed a father's footsteps, and explore how those choices molded them into the people they are today. As they reflect on their relationships with their fathers, and their roles as co-workers and proteges, you'll learn powerful concepts of legacy, submission, and setting an example for your own children. Listen in as these two pastor's sons reveal the immense impact that a good father can have on his children - even in a unique, demanding ministry environment. Caleb Thomas is a staff pastor at Free Life Chapel in Lakeland FL, where he serves under his parents Pastors Scott and Cindy Thomas. He and his wife Elizabeth are the proud parents of their son, Malachi Santiago, and are currently preparing to welcome their daughter, Thalia Sage. Join Monica for chapter Highlights and a free download! I am so excited to be back with another monthly podcast covering highlights from my book, Raising Amazing: Bringing up Kids Who Love God, Like Their Family, and Do the Dishes Without Being Asked! Today we get to cover Chapter Two: Welcome Aboard: Lead Your Family on an Intentional Trajectory. This has been a favorite chapter for a lot of people, as I get really practical about intentional family life. I talk about identifying your family's core values, considering your family's “brand” or “culture”, then putting things together in a Family Mission Statement. I talk about challenges or hard things families might face, and how that too, can shape us in unexpected, but beautiful ways. Monica Swanson knows what it means to be intentional in relationships at home. She makes decisions with the end goal in mind. She wants kids who love God, like each other, and are helpful by default. Those end goals shape their daily rhythms, how they talk to each other, and even their vacations. We dive right into the Lead Your Life series talking about family relationships because if ever there was a place where we need some intention, it's with those right around us. Monica comes to us from the Aloha state. A mom to four sons who are growing and leaving home, she is able to look back a bit and evaluate what helped their family get where it is today. There was intentional time together, both as a family, but also with siblings. Their family culture didn't just happen, she and her husband Dave made decisions on purpose. Whether you have mental roadblocks to making some changes at home or logistical ones, Monica gives us the pep talk we need to face what might be holding us back from leading our families in the way we want them to go. This is a part practical, part inspirational conversation that you don't want to miss. Sometimes the things that matter most to us, get our leftover attention. By leftover we mean the time we have left after all of the pressing things are taken care of. The people in our homes deserve our intentional best. Monica gives us some practical next steps to lead our family relationships. And as we say on the episode, we KNOW she lives what she teaches. She gets us. She knows what it's like to lead a family with intention.
