It's nearing the end of January in College Basketball and things are really heating up. Timmy Hall and Evil Bald Colin get you caught up from games from over the weekend and earlier this week. Alabama and Kentucky was awesome! At about the 10:40 mark the guys get into the situation that happened at TCU with Hunter Dickinson and other TCU players holding onto the ball for a long period of time. Bill Self wasn't a huge fan of that act from his big man. Dan Hurley is at it again, this time declaring himself as the best coach in the sport and the guys discuss if he makes a good case or not. Are replay reviews becoming a problem in the sport? The guys break that down at 24:10 and throw out some ideas to make late-game reviews better. Also, the Ohio State basketball team picked up a MASSIVE win in Mackey Arena knocking off Purdue. What was working for the Buckeyes, and can they go on a run here off this big win? And finally, at the 35-minute mark Rhymetime joins the pod to give an update on North Carolina after dropping two games in a row and what their issues are, along with a look ahead at the huge weekend slate coming up.
Derek and Kyle discuss Ohio State going into Mackey Arena and beating Purdue to shake up the Big Ten race. Later, the guys also discuss Brad Underwood's comments about KJ and the officials and how college basketball can solve some of its officiating problems.

Either way, Purdue ends up in the record books after the entirety of the last two seasons:Two dominant Big Ten regular season titles, one Big Ten Tournament title, undefeated stacked nonconference schedules, two losses in Mackey Arena. Zach Edey (likely) gathering two-time National Player of the Year and Purdue's all-time scoring and rebounding records and virtually every individual award available. An overlooked barely-3-star Braden Smith emerging as one of the best point guards in the country. A supporting cast that decided to stay intact, and a coach in Matt Painter that everyone is waiting to crown as the face/voice/conscience of college basketball. And an immortal March Madness #16-over-#1 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson University, coming a year after a Sweet 16 loss to #15 Saint Peters, which was a year after losing in the first round to #13 North Texas. The time for immortality is here - no matter what. A perfect recipe for fandom indigestion. The Boilermakers won the Big Ten with a better record than last year, and clinched another undefeated season at Mackey Arena, on the backs of Zach Edey's second National Player of the Year season (somehow even better than the last), an All American season from Braden Smith, a perfect transfer addition in Lance Jones, the winningest senior class in Purdue history, a coach in Matt Painter saying all the right things, and a perfect cast of complementary players. It looks like, no matter what happens in the Big Ten Tournament, Purdue is set up for a favorable March Madness run as a #1 seed through Indianapolis and Detroit. In this episode of “This Is Purdue,” we're talking to former head coach Carolyn Peck and co-captains Stephanie White and Ukari Figgs as they reflect on the Purdue women's basketball team's 1999 NCAA National Championship. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of this legendary win and listen as Coach Peck, Stephanie and Ukari share more about this historic season and the real story behind what happened when they arrived in San Jose for the Final Four of March Madness. From starting the season beating No. 1-ranked Tennessee and selling out Mackey Arena for the first time ever to finally hoisting the championship trophy and cutting down the net after beating Duke in that championship game, you'll hear behind-the-scenes stories from these three women who experienced it all. And you certainly don't want to miss Ukari's story about taking a mechanical engineering exam during the Final Four. Plus, Stephanie, head coach of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun, and Ukari, a mechanical engineer at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, discuss balancing Purdue's academics while fighting for a national championship. They also share how Purdue helped set them up for success within the WNBA and, later, their careers outside of playing professional basketball. The friendship, commitment, determination and, of course, Boilermaker spirit that led this legendary women's team to a national championship will forever be celebrated in the Purdue community. Relive all the heart-wrenching, jaw-dropping and emotional moments in this special episode of “This Is Purdue.”
Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter wins games. He wins a lot! In fact, his Purdue Boilermakers just won their second consecutive outright Big 10 regular season championship. Matt Painter and his Boilermakers are shoo-in to land a number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament later this month. But Purdue basketball has a problem. Neither Painter or Gene Keady have hung a national championship banner in Mackey Arena. This is despite the fact Purdue Basketball is really good almost every year. So, what's the problem? It's hard to say. The Boilers lost to double digit seeds three years in a row in the NCAA Tournament. Who could forget last year when the Boilers became just the second top seed to lose to a sixteen seed in NCAA history when Fairleigh Dickinson shot them out of the gym? At what point does coming up short every year start to become a problem for Painter's longevity in West Lafayette? For the record, we think he is a great coach who is Purdue through and through! But at some point the tough question has to be asked.MORE EXPANSION?There's more Big 10 expansion talk and this time it includes Utah. Utah? Yes, Utah. We will discuss the possibility.
