We're headed to one of the most legendary small rooms in the country to chat with this episode's guest, Megan Loveless, Talent Buyer for The Blue Room at Third Man Records – the independent record label in Nashville run by Jack White. Megan tells us all about the venue, which previously had been used for underplays, photoshoots, and special experiences, but in 2021 was rebranded as a full venue to host a wide range of events weekly. From its literal blue walls that give it its name to the lathe room that houses a 1955 Scully lathe which allows them to record select shows direct to acetate – The Blue Room is a truly unique venue. Hear what goes into curating their calendar and how Megan balances booking touring and local acts along with other types of community events. We learn about her history growing up in a small town with a love for Nirvana and Sub Pop Records which led to her attending MTSU for Music Business and internships at a small label and Third Man Records. Enjoy this fun episode filled with interesting information and career advice, discussions about live music building community, and even some band recommendations to check out. Tell us what you like or dislike about this episode!! Be honest, we don't bite!Boyzone looked like private jets and millions. Keith Duffy says the truth was the opposite. In this episode, Keith joins Matt Haycox in Dubai to talk about what fame actually costs, confidence, identity, relationships, and (often) the money people assume you've got.Keith opens up about Louis Walsh's control and how being labelled “the big lad in the back who can't sing” shattered his self-belief, even while the band was dominating charts.Want to know about the music business lie? How expenses get recouped, how artists get billed for the lifestyle, and why Boyzone “hadn't a penny” when the world thought they were loaded. And in one of the most powerful parts of the conversation, Keith shares the family journey with his daughter Mia, the shock, the waiting lists, building support when none existed, and what early intervention changed over time. This is a conversation about fame, money, manipulation, grief, resilience, and what life looks like when the arena lights go off.Timestamps:0:00 – Intro 1:44 – From Irish grafter to meeting Louis Walsh7:56 – Debut to international stardom 15:24 – The “master manipulator” and control behind the scenes18:27 – Confidence crisis: “suppressed” + not being allowed to sing26:16 – Losing Stephen Gately 29:57 – The birth of Boyzlife34:22 – Arenas vs theatres (and why intimacy wins) 37:26 – Hollywood dreams43:11 – The music business lie: “we had no money”48:01 – Mia: A journey through autism1:00:18 – Final thoughts Follow Keith DuffyInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialkeithduffy/Boyzlife: https://www.instagram.com/officialboyzlifeEnjoyed this episode? A kobold approaches! He's looking for someone to help him with his social skills to gain greater friends at the taverns. Do you roll for behavior analysis clinical skills? Or attack him with your +2 broadsword? While we've definitely discussed role-playing activities in training contexts, recent years have seen a huge increase in interest in gamification in learning a variety of skills. One area of research is in the use of tabletop role-playing games in therapeutic and clinical settings. But is there any research to back up the hype? This week we're joined by active RPG player clinical user, Danielle Yang, to dive into the research base as we work to answer the question: could the use of RPGs in treatment be considered behavior analytic? Interested in learning more about this topic? Danielle offers a deeper-dive course into the use of RPGs in treatment and skill planning. You can also join her Discord to chat with other RPG/ABA practitioners. And keep your eye out for a bonus episode this month where we'll be demoing just HOW a tabletop RPG could be used in a clinical setting. This episode is available for 1.0 LEARNING CEU.

Recently a bunch of people shared me a story about a band (called Witch Fever) who've been out touring in arenas but are absolutely broke, how can that be? well actually it can be very easy, and probably expected in their position, I'll explain why, the logistics and math involved and also ponder and is it possible the band their agency and manager anticipated this outcome and have crafted it into their promotional angle, knowing full well they were going to come out more or less empty handed? it's very possible....or am I too cynical.....? find out in today's podcastnemtheanga_primordialon the gramsupport the show over at :https://patreon.com/AlanAverillPrimordial on SpotifyYES THERE'S A NEW Primordial LIVE ALBUM OUT !!https://open.spotify.com/artist/0BZr6WHaejNA63uhZZZZek?si=yFFV8ypSSDOESUX62_0TzQsponsored by Metal Blade recordshttps://metalblade.indiemerch.com/promo code AA 2024 for 10% off your orderships worldwideFor info on my work as a booking agent go to:https://www.facebook.com/DragonProductionsOfficialor email alan@dragon-productions.comPrimordial cds/lps available fromhttps://www.metalblade.com/primordial/death metalVERMINOUS SERPENThttps://open.spotify.com/artist/54Wpl9JD0Zn4rhpBvrN2Oa?si=zOjIulHXS5y9lW1YHMhgTAdoomDREAD SOVEREIGN https://open.spotify.com/artist/60HY4pl0nbOrZA6u2QnqDN?si=sxQ5_1htR6G3WIvy1I_wXAgothAPRILMENhttps://open.spotify.com/artist/7GzLO1YJClmN5TvV4A37MJ?si=cRXSk24lQKWSqJG-B8KbWQSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/agitators-anonymous-the-alan-averill-podcast. Pull up a chair as we head to "America's Farm to Fork Capital," Sacramento, for a special in-person episode with James Rasmussen, VP of Arena Programming at Golden 1 Center. Our hosts sit down with James in the Sacramento Kings podcast studio and dig into what makes the city special and things to look forward to for those coming to the Event & Venue Marketing Conference in June. Fresh off a venue tour before recording, we talk about the many features of the arena that make it stand out – including being 100% solar powered and the importance of the solar panels on the roof, giant window walls that can open to cool the venue with the delta breeze, sourcing 90% of their food and beverage from within 150 miles, LEED Platinum Certification, and so much more. We talk through the building's evolution as it approaches its 10th anniversary and their emphasis on designing for the future. We chat through James' career history from working as a security guard at Bob Dylan's house while in college at Pepperdine University to his entry into live events with Arena Network, and many shows and tours he worked on along the way. Jimmy Carr is back. Jimmy Carr is one of the most recognisable comedians on the planet: world-touring stand-up, TV host, and author - famous for brutal roasts and surgical one-liners. But in this episode, you get the sharper edge and the deeper thinking: why 2026 is going to feel like a turning point and how young men can get control back. Jimmy is one of the most respected comedians in the world: a world-touring stand-up, TV host, and author known for brutal one-liners and zero mercy… but in this episode you get the full range - savage comedy and the deeply human side. We talk about dating, masculinity, porn, cheap dopamine and why so many young men feel stuck - then we go way bigger: AI as a new “god”, the end of old institutions, how podcasts replaced mainstream media, and why politics is entering a genuinely weird new era. And then the episode turns: Jimmy opens up about grief and love - remembering Sean Lock (including the first joke Jimmy ever heard him say, and why he felt like a father figure), the impact of losing his mum Nora, and a beautiful tribute to Janey Godley and what she said about Jimmy behind the scenes. Expect to learn:Why women select for competence and what “safety” really signals.Jimmy's advice to young men: porn, risk, rejection, and building a real life The loneliness trade-off: liver damage vs social isolation How Jimmy thinks about anxiety, discipline, and “life assignment” Sean Lock's legacy — and what it's like to lose someone you built a career beside Grief, funerals, and the difference between resume virtues and eulogy virtues AI, institutions, and why the next decade could get very “interesting”and much, much more.PartnersSlaters Made To Order If you're in UK and you want a suit that fits properly — Slaters Made To Order is the move.Link: https://www.slaters.co.uk/made-to-order?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22326051720&gbraid=0AAAAADogE-bVEefnTzse9hLL0ErpEr-jF&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgbnKBhDgARIsAGCDdlckA1RBqnk3kO10XoXEjj-ilOMcplqUquwYMtHBJtNjWRY75T_TcmkaAlhZEALw_wcBNeutonicFor clean focus and productivity support: Neutonic.Use code DAVID for a discount.Link: https://www.neutonic.com?sca_ref=10212353.vP3Eab049B&utm_source=uppromote&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=26377300:00 — Young Men Are Stuck01:52 — Jimmy's Back: Glasgow Banter04:18 — “Media Diet” & Mental Health07:27 — ADHD, Boundaries & Discipline08:23 — Arenas, Imposter Syndrome, Movies13:46 — Early Comedy Influences16:21 — How You Build Confidence17:32 — First Glasgow Joke (DVD Era)18:52 — Comedy = Friendship20:28 — Why Dark Humour Helps22:16 — Dating: Safety, Competence, Chemistry24:48 — Advice to Young Men: Porn, Games, Asking Girls Out27:09 — Drinking vs Isolation29:28 — Dealing Young People In: Agency Over Empathy31:35 — Trump + Debate vs Deliberation32:28 — Fourth Turning + Class Politics Flip34:31 — Podcasts Replaced Mainstream Media36:52 — “Be Of Service” — Working-Class Agency37:46 — “Woke”, Status & Suicidal Empathy39:19 — Jimmy's Come-Up: Luck + Work Ethic42:29 — Pre-Show Mindset44:32 — Jimmy's Laugh + His Mum47:48 — Sean Lock: First Meeting + Legacy53:54 — Grief, Mortality & Talking To The Dead55:18 — Funerals: Eulogy vs Résumé01:01:31 — AI, God & The Future01:04:26 — Secret Struggles: Dyslexia, Body Image, Work01:07:24 — Pax Americana Ending + The World Shifting01:10:29 — Kids, Legacy & Meaning01:13:18 — Janey Godley TributeInstagram: @davidmcintoshjrPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/davidmcintoshjr/aboutSubstack: https://substack.com/@davidmcintoshjr?Merch: https://originstoryclub.co.uk/
