Another Hall of Underrated
The Atlanta Braves lost to the New York Mets 4-1 last night at Truist Park. The Mets were able to take advantage of having Max Scherzer on the mound. Mark Zinno talked about how Robinson Cano reminded him of Nick Markakis and coupled with the fact he's wearing the same number as well. Secondly, when the Atlanta Braves hired Alex Anthopoulos, there was a lot of optimism around the city of Atlanta. The moves made by Anthopoulos are very strategic, but Mark Zinno still feels he's not done yet and all things considered, he shouldn't be. Also, Zinno talked about the difference between making the playoffs and becoming back-to-back World Series champs. Lastly, ESPN posted a list ranking the top 10 quarterbacks heading into the 2022 season. Mark Zinno talked about a couple of omissions that stood out like a sore thumb. Among them were Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray. Also, Zinno talked about how much harder it is to quantify quarterbacks because they do so many unique things that others can't Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Morons return with a series of unfortunate updates on the state of sports ownership, the legacy of Nick Markakis, and their recent discovery of podcasting's market inefficiency.
The Atlanta Braves have defeated the Houston Astros to become this year's World Series champion. @NaturallyKatz11 (Jordan) is joined by @CastrBlastr (Ian) and @ManciniGOAT (Joey) to reflect on this postseason from an Orioles perspective. We looked at the Astros tanking and what it could mean for the future of the Orioles, discussed our disappointment over Nick Markakis retiring one year too early for a ring and highlighted other former Orioles of note in the postseason like Kevin Gausman and Nelson Cruz.

That's more like it. The Yankees finally looked like the Yankees and beat up the Orioles (like they always do) in a 7-1 win. Aaron Judge hit a solo home run, Giancarlo Stanton hit a grand slam, Aaron Hicks got on base and Jordan Montgomery gave the bullpen a rest with six innings. It was the best kind of Yankees win: no frustration, disappointment and no moments of high intensity moments. A nice, easy win. After the recap, Eric Arditti of Barstool Sports joined me to talk about the state of the Orioles, when they will be good again, their last window from 2012-16, the departure of Gary Thorne from the broadcast booth and the careers of Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters.

It was a slow week for big baseball news, but we still had a lot of fun with this podcast. We went over the proposed asinine Minor League rule changes that will be rolled out across multiple levels. There was a hat nod to the retiring Nick Markakis who had a better career than you think. There is a bit of hit-for-the-cycle trivia as well as the beginning of a segment that may or may not return called "Bird Watch." Enjoy Episode 40, we're entering our mid-life crisis!
