Based on a great question from a loyal listener, Jeff dives into the art of stealing bases. He talks about why teams used to steal more than they do now, how the current offensive environment affects the decisions, and most importantly, whether the 2022 Los Angeles Dodgers should steal more bases. With Trea Turner, Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger, Chris Taylor, AJ Pollock, and Gavin Lux, the speed is probably there, and Jeff digs into the possibilities. Locked On Dodgers, the daily podcast about the Los Angeles Dodgers with hosts Jeff Snider and Vince Samperio, is part of the Locked On Podcast Network. Check the website here: http://enlites.com/ Dr. Chris Knight is Honorary Professor in the Department of Anthropology at University College London. Over many years, he has been exploring the idea that human language and culture emerged in our species not purely through gradual Darwinian evolution but in a cumulative process culminating in sudden revolutionary change. The details of his ‘sex strike' theory remain controversial, but the general idea that the transition to language was a ‘major transition' or ‘revolution' (often termed the human revolution) has been current for many years and is now widely agreed. In this episode, we talk about Dr. Knight's hypothesis about the emergence of human language. We discuss the social conditions that are needed for language to develop, and tackle questions surrounding language nativism and why other animals do not have language. We also get into cultural evolution, and its relationship with matrilocality. -- A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY PATRONS/SUPPORTERS: KARIN LIETZCKE, ANN BLANCHETTE, PER HELGE LARSEN, LAU GUERREIRO, JERRY MULLER, HANS FREDRIK SUNDE, BERNARDO SEIXAS, HERBERT GINTIS, RUTGER VOS, RICARDO VLADIMIRO, CRAIG HEALY, OLAF ALEX, PHILIP KURIAN, JONATHAN VISSER, JAKOB KLINKBY, ADAM KESSEL, MATTHEW WHITINGBIRD, ARNAUD WOLFF, TIM HOLLOSY, HENRIK AHLENIUS, JOHN CONNORS, PAULINA BARREN, FILIP FORS CONNOLLY, DAN DEMETRIOU, ROBERT WINDHAGER, RUI INACIO, ARTHUR KOH, ZOOP, MARCO NEVES, COLIN HOLBROOK, SUSAN PINKER, PABLO SANTURBANO, SIMON COLUMBUS, PHIL KAVANAGH, JORGE ESPINHA, CORY CLARK, MARK BLYTH, ROBERTO INGUANZO, MIKKEL STORMYR, ERIC NEURMANN, SAMUEL ANDREEFF, FRANCIS FORDE, TIAGO NUNES, BERNARD HUGUENEY, ALEXANDER DANNBAUER, FERGAL CUSSEN, YEVHEN BODRENKO, HAL HERZOG, NUNO MACHADO, DON ROSS, JONATHAN LEIBRANT, JOÃO LINHARES, OZLEM BULUT, NATHAN NGUYEN, STANTON T, SAMUEL CORREA, ERIK HAINES, MARK SMITH, J.W., JOÃO EIRA, TOM HUMMEL, SARDUS FRANCE, DAVID SLOAN WILSON, YACILA DEZA-ARAUJO, IDAN SOLON, ROMAIN ROCH, DMITRY GRIGORYEV, TOM ROTH, DIEGO LONDOÑO CORREA, YANICK PUNTER, ADANER USMANI, CHARLOTTE BLEASE, NICOLE BARBARO, ADAM HUNT, PAWEL OSTASZEWSKI, AL ORTIZ, NELLEKE BAK, KATHRINE AND PATRICK TOBIN, GUY MADISON, GARY G HELLMANN, SAIMA AFZAL, ADRIAN JAEGGI, NICK GOLDEN, PAULO TOLENTINO, JOÃO BARBOSA, JULIAN PRICE, EDWARD HALL, HEDIN BRØNNER, DOUGLAS P. Setting goals is more than a New Year's cliché. Don't ask us to explain, but according to neuroscientists, there's a part of the brain that believes desired outcomes are an essential component of who we believe we already are. That, in turn, sets up the conditions that drive us to fulfill the brain's self-image! In a way, if you can picture what you want to achieve, then you can achieve it. In this Silver Dollar episode, we talk about 4 types of goals to pursue in 2022 that cover all the important parts of our lives: self-development, health, family/relationships, and business/career. #212 A terrified, misunderstood, and persecuted person finally decides to accept and take a state for who and what she is, and is subsequently seized by the state for her perceived deviance and faces an involuntary, disturbing, and invasive mental "treatment" to "correct" her "condition". Fortunately, the Enterprise is there to help! Unfortunately, nobody seems to really care, except for Riker on account of he wants to figure out where his bits could go. It's kind of weird and messed up! Some dated concepts of gender and bizarre lack of concern from our typically ultra-humanitarian starship crew aside, this episode still manages to be a stirring, devastating argument for the acceptance of people's sexual and gender orientations that remains terribly, distressingly relevant nearly 30 years later. So of course, we find plenty of ways to accidentally botch pronouns repeatedly, continually giggle like schoolchildren when someone talks about "getting inside the pocket", reveal the secrets of the enigmatic "Story of the Bases", take a stand against the disgusting perversion of split pea soup, and so, so much more in this exceedingly long and unfortunately timely episode of Trek TV! Also, TERFs and their ilk can get proper fucked, tia. Visit our website for fan art, news and more!

Mike Wong, vice president of the San Francisco chapter of Veterans for Peace, joins us to talk about reports that China is making plans to build a naval base in Equatorial Guinea and how the U.S. is repeating Cold War narratives about threats to the U.S. because a rival has a foothold in the Atlantic. We talk about the nebulous nature of these claims, which are sourced from anonymous intelligence officials, and contradicting reports that there is no visible construction in the area. We also talk about how we need to be ready to live in a multipolar world and learn to cooperate with emerging powers.Ariel Gold, co-executive director at Code Pink, talks to us about ongoing violence in Palestine, where settlers killed a 16-year-old after an attack on border police, and how the continuing occupation and displacement of Palestinians fuels this violence. We also talk about the spat between Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and the Democratic Socialists of America, who are withholding their 2022 endorsement of Bowman after posing with Israeli PM Naftali Bennett and supporting the funding of the Iron Dome program.Tina Landis, environmental and social activist and the author of the book “Climate Solutions Beyond Capitalism,” talks to us about a report revealing that the U.S. Navy has been polluting Hawaii's water resources for decades due to leaking underground fuel tanks, how the Navy has not properly addressed this issue, how the problem of military installations and pollution is not only confined to this case, and how the military in general is one of the biggest polluters in the world. Ron Placone, comedian and host of "Get Your News On With Ron," talks to us about Joe Biden hosting a Democracy Summit at the White House and the particulars of who does and who does not get invited, Jen Psaki talking about the new way in which Americans can get their COVID-19 test refunded by their insurance company and navigating the labyrinth of private healthcare, and Devin Nunes resigning from Congress after 19 years to be a part of Trump's new media company.
Mark and Greg Moreno and Dom Pestritto of Radio Free Hillsdale discuss the bevy of moves made ahead of MLB's lockout this past Wednesday. They discuss whether the Rangers are contenders after landing Seager and Semien, Robbie Ray's chances of sustaining his 2021 Cy Young form, the Mets' offseason strategy, and more.

| As reprovações funcionam? Matt Waldman and Mark Schofield talk about the AFC North, the exploitable holes in the Ravens and Buccs defenses, the oddities of specific NFL fanbases, favorite plays of the week, Teddy, OBJ, and Kyle Pitts on this week's RSP Quick Game. Topics: Teddy Controversy: Is the "reasonable vilification" justifiable? Player safety and the distance/surface changes between the end line and end zone wall. Let's discuss. There seem to be a lot of big backs in a league where the trendy statement was that this league would default to scatbacks. Has the nickel and diming of NFL defenses changed this or is it simply about finding talent regardless of the size of the package? The weaknesses of a defense we've watched and how other teams can exploit it down the line? Who wins the AFC North? College Prospect Report: Trey McBride, Charlie Kolar, and Xavier Hutchinson Cordarrelle Patterson's injury, does it derail the Falcons' offense inalterably while he's gone? Whose an "unknown NFL commodity" you think has a chance to become more well known by year's end? Candidates for weirdest fan base. Favorite play of the week, whatever reason. When you were beginning this career journey, whose criticism was valuable to your growth? Pro or Anti Turkey? For the most in-depth analysis of offensive skill players available (QB, RB, WR, and TE), download the 2021 Rookie Scouting Portfolio for $21.95. Matt's new RSP Dynasty Rankings and Two-Year Projections Package is available for $24.95 If you're a fantasy owner and interested in purchasing past publications for $9.95 each, the 2012-2020 RSPs also have a Post-Draft Add-on that's included at no additional charge. Best yet, a proceeds from sales are set aside for a year-end donation to Darkness to Light to combat sexual abuse.
