Buoyed by the victory over Norwich City the Royal Blue podcast team are back with a spring in their step today. Host Phil Kirkbride is joined by Dave Prentice and Gav Buckland to look back on the 1-0 win at Carrow Road and ask how realistic Carlo Ancelotti's Europa League aims are? Also up for discussion are match-winner Michael Keane - should he score more goals than he does? - as well as the man who laid on the assist, Lucas Digne. Is the Everton left-back having a good season? The surprise social media outburst of architect Dan Meis, in which he made his feelings at no longer being "directly engaged" in Everton's new stadium project clear, is also on the agenda. The lads also discuss the news this week that Oumar Niasse and Cuco Martina will be released at the end of their contracts next week. Niasse, predictably, dominates this segment of the discussion before the pod moves onto Leighton Baines. The Blues' hero has signed a short-term extension to his contract but the club await a response to the offer of a new one-year deal. Is the wait any reason for concern? Dave and Gav have their say. Host Phil Kirkbride, Adam Jones and Chris Beesley also discuss the issues of playing out the campaign at neutral venues, and what will happen if or, in more likelihood, when a player gets tested positive for coronavirus once the action resumes. And what should Everton do about Oumar Niasse, Cuco Martina and Martin Stekelenburg, whose current contracts will expire before the season ends? And should the Blues wrap up a deal for the on-loan Djibril Sidibé?

The trip to Southampton may be just one day away, but other talking points dominate the latest Royal Blue podcast.Host Phil Kirkbride kicks things off by asking David Prentice, Sam Carroll and Paul Wheelock whether they are surprised that it hasn't worked out for Oumar Niasse under Marco Silva given he previously played for the Everton manager. While the podcast was being recorded, Niasse completed his loan move to Cardiff City, which came as no surprise seeing how far the Senegalese has fallen down the Goodison pecking order. That in part is down to Silva's decision to move Richarlison from the wing to up front, where the young Brazilian has enjoyed success this season, but from where he has also shown signs of frustration in recent weeks. And that leads to the question whether the 21-year-old is getting enough protection from the officials? And, if not, does he need to speak out?Phil also revisits a question he posed previously on Royal Blue - and that is which player in Silva's squad most deserves a new contract. We get four different and interesting answers. The panel are also asked to name their favourite ever Blues January transfer window signing, talk the immediate and long-term future of James McCarthy, as well as previewing the Southampton match.Enjoy. Next we speak to Martin Cloake, writer and co-chair of Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust, about a 6-0 thumping of Millwall. However it wasn't a perfect afternoon for Spurs, with a worrying injury to Harry Kane. Martin gives us his opinions on how the rest of the season might shape up for Tottenham and why he isn't quite willing to give up catching Chelsea. Finally Les Motherby, editor of the Hull City fanzine Amber Nectar talks to us about Hull City's 2-1 Premier League win against Swansea. We talk about the controversies over the pitch, the unlikely impact of Oumar Niasse and why Hull are still up against it if they want to remain in the Premier League for another season.
