English Premier League podcast: EPLpod

The EPLpod boyz decide to take an indefinite break from their pod-boy-lives to try other things in life before the clock runs out and they return back to eternal darkness. Will there be other episodes in the future? No one really knows... 

Liverpool FC played as many game as they possibly could have this season, but lost the league by one point and the Champions League final by one goal against Real Madrid. As such, they only have the FA Cup and the league cup (doesn't it even count?) to show for their efforts. With this said, the question must be asked: Did Liverpool FC have a successful season? 

Aston Villa manager and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard came desperately close to denying Manchester City the title, only for Pep Guardiola's side to mount a dramatic comeback, scoring three goals in less than six minutes with there being less than 15 minutes to play. Ouch baby! 

Paris St-Germain's Idrissa Gueye refused to play in a match to avoid wearing a rainbow symbol in support of LGBTQ+ rights. Kouyate posted a picture of himself alongside Gueye on Instagram, with a caption calling Gueye "a real man". Sadly, this couldn't be further from the case. 

Steven Gerrard has made it clear that Aston Villa will ‘give everything' against Manchester City after he was asked if he could possibly give Liverpool a favour in the Premier League title race. Will Gerrard be able to do it or will he have a mangerial slip?

Liverpool moved to within eight games of "immortality" in the shape of an unprecedented quadruple after beating Villarreal 2-0 in the Champions League semi-final first leg. Are they the best squad ever in the history of the Premier League? The Legend and Special Guest Paul discuss. 

Everton were in 15th place when they sacked Rafa; under Lampard, they are in the drop zone. Lampard's appointment has yielded less points per game than Rafa. Everton resorted to the dark arts and only had 18% possession and still lost by two goals. Is it time for Everton to go down?

Manchester United lost 4-0 against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, following their 5-0 thrashing by the same opposition at Old Trafford in October. The Legend and Special Guest Paul discuss the decline of God's team and the elevation of Arsenal into the top four.

Manchester City completed the signing of Jack Grealish for a British-record fee of £100 million, surpassing the £89.3 million spent by Manchester United to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in 2016. After crashing out of the league cup and now the FA Cup, two cups that City would have been favourites to win before the season started, The Legend and SGP discuss whether Jack Grealish will win anything this season after turning his back on his boyhood club.

With players flopping all around, spitting, pulling hair, time wasting, and diving, it's clear as day that Atlético de Madrid vs Manchester City was a terrible advertisement for football as The Legend and SGP discuss. 

Manchester City and Liverpool played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the Premier League title showdown at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners in what was their best performance of the season, beating the reigning European champions Chelsea. Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick and had Madrid cruising with two goals inside the opening 24 minutes. The Legend and Special Guest discuss where Chelsea go from here.

Before Brentford came to Stamford Bridge, only Manchester City had left victorious during the 2021/22 Premier League season, and they had conceded ten times at home in 13 matches. That record was laid to rest as Brentford scored four second half goals to record a memorable win against the Champions of Europe. England boss Gareth Southgate has called the booing of defender Harry Maguire in their 3-0 friendly win over Ivory Coast "an absolute joke". Meanwhile, Mike breaks bread with the Russian government and Special Guest Paul starts tossing his weight around the pod.

The latest incarnation of the Super League is discussed with UEFA President Ceferin proposing two additional teams to qualify via a coefficient. Steven Gerrard has coldly responded to Arsenal's Bukayo Saka after he pleaded with referees to give him more protection following the win at Aston Villa. Gerrard said, and we quote, "I'm sitting here now with screws in my hips. I've had about 16 operations. I'm struggling to go to the gym at the moment.
