From the future to the first team, it's a classic Palace rollercoaster. We celebrate a huge win for the Women and the U18s' FA Youth Cup run, plus Terence gears up for the Palace for Life Bike From Arsenal (sponsors very much welcome!).We had a lovely day at the seaside with our friends and relive the 1-0 win at Brighton, but the feel-good factor evaporates fast as Burnley stun Selhurst, despite a dream home debut brace from Strand Larsen. Cue the big question: has Glasner reached the end of the road at SE25?With Wolves, United, Spurs and the Conference League looming, the next few weeks could define the season. Hosted on Acast. Crystal Palace have just shattered their transfer record for the second time in a month, securing Norwegian powerhouse Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolves in a deal worth up to £48 million. In this episode, we break down why Oliver Glasner made the 6'4" striker his top priority to lead the line for the remainder of the season. We dive into the "Sense of Space" that makes Strand Larsen a tactical enigma—a target man with the technical touch of a playmaker. Despite a challenging run at Molineux this term, we look back at his 14-goal Premier League debut season and that legendary qualification winner for Norway. Plus, we discuss the deadline-day drama: with Jean-Philippe Mateta's move to AC Milan collapsing, how will Glasner manage these two physical titans in the same squad? Crystal Palace have pulled off a mid-winter "heist of the century," securing Tottenham hero Brennan Johnson in a club-record £35 million move. In this episode, we explore the sharp opportunism of Oliver Glasner, who snatched the Welsh international after he was squeezed out of North London following the arrival of Mohammed Kudus.Johnson arrives at Selhurst Park not just as a pace merchant, but as a proven big-game winner—the man who scored the decisive goal in the Europa League final to end Spurs' 17-year trophy drought. We break down the "bolt of lightning" athleticism he brings to the Eagles' front line, his versatility as a tactical Swiss Army knife, and how he plans to resurrect his reputation as one of the Premier League's most direct attacking forces. 3 away grounds Villa fans hate - Old Trafford, Selhurst and St James. The last one is no longer a problem as Villa win way at their toughest challenge. This week started full of doubt with an unexpected home loss and serious injuries galore, it ends with joy and optimism as we vanquish Duran and force the Toon to labour at home.Buendia - 7 for the season (better than Paquetta and Jao Felix)Rogers and Buendia linking up beautifully The double pivot - so good to have Onana back Joelinton - total prick The defence perfect and we liked to see Mings coming on to close the game out Hosted by Audiomeans. Spurs win! It's a Christmas miracle! It doesn't always have to be pretty, sometimes it can be ugly - a reversal in fortunes was needed, and getting a win away at Selhurst is no small feat, especially under the guidance of Oliver Glasner. Sitting fourth and fresh off another European win, Glasner's Palace have absolutely nothing to fear. City might be scoring for fun, but they're leaking goals at the back, and we know exactly how to exploit that. Selhurst purring, Palace bossed Brentford from first whistle. Compact shape, crisp passing, and ruthless transitions earned a deserved 2-0. The press hemmed the Bees in, full-backs flew, and midfield snapped into everything. Clinical finishing, rock-solid defending, and game management. What a wild afternoon at Selhurst! Crystal Palace clawed back a 3-3 draw with AFC Bournemouth after a nightmare first half – 2-0 down and struggling. Then Jean‑Philippe Mateta exploded with a second-half double plus a stoppage-time penalty to earn the point. The defence still looked patchy, but the fight and the finish were classic Palace. One point gained, two almost lost — and what a ride.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/holmesdaleradio. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Crystal Palace return to Selhurst this weekend desperate to bounce back after their 19-match unbeaten streak was finally halted by Everton. Bournemouth arrive in fine form and will be no pushovers. All eyes will be on Mateta, who remains Palace's talisman, and the lingering tension from Wilfried Zaha's furious public response to Mateta's recent interview flair.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/holmesdaleradio. From “Final Destination: Goodison Park” to baggy jeans and déjà vu defeats — history repeats itself as Palace fall late to Everton. The boys unpack a game full of missed chances, weird deflections, and Wharton's masterclass, plus a referee seemingly officiating a game that he shouldn't be. There's also talk of Oliver Glasner's contract rumours, Mark Goldberg's Selhurst comeback, and a look back at the 1969 parallels that prove football really is cyclical. Hosted on Acast. Crystal Palace stretched their unbeaten run to 18 games – and did it against the champions of England, finishing the weekend sitting third in the Premier League. What a time to be alive. Hesketh tuned in from Austin, Terence brought his son to Selhurst for the very first time, and Albert had the perfect view from the Whitehorse Lane End as Palace delivered one of their finest halves of football against Liverpool. We break down the match, chuckle at a journalist's laughable 2/10 match rating for Kamada, and look ahead to Dynamo Kyiv in Poland – plus plenty more along the way. Hosted on Acast. pWotD Episode 2937: Crystal Palace F.C. Welcome to Popular Wiki of the Day, spotlighting Wikipedia's most visited pages, giving you a peek into what the world is curious about today. With 232,959 views on Saturday, 17 May 2025 our article of the day is Crystal Palace F.C..Crystal Palace Football Club, commonly referred to as Crystal Palace or simply Palace, is a professional football club based in Selhurst, South London, England, which competes in the Premier League, the top-tier of English football. The club was formally created as a professional outfit in 1905 at the Crystal Palace exhibition building, but its origins can be traced back to 1861. The club used the FA Cup final stadium inside the exhibition grounds for their home games between 1905 and 1915, when they were forced to leave due to the outbreak of the First World War. In 1924, they moved to their current home at Selhurst Park.Crystal Palace spent their early years as a professional club playing in the Southern League. They were elected to the Football League in 1920, and have mainly competed in the top two tiers of English football during their league history. Since 1964, Palace have only dropped below the second tier once, for three seasons between 1974 and 1977. They reached the 1990 FA Cup final and challenged Arsenal and Liverpool for the English league title in 1990–91, finishing in third place, the club's highest league finish to date, and only missed out on UEFA Cup qualification due to a ban on English clubs. The club were founder members of the inaugural Premier League in 1992–93, though they were relegated that season, as well as facing immediate relegations in 1994–95, 1997–98, and 2004–05. They were promoted to the Premier League once again in 2013 and have remained there ever since, achieving a record-extending thirteenth consecutive top-flight season as of 2025–26, as well as reaching two more FA Cup finals in 2016 and 2025, with victory in the latter final resulting in the club's first major trophy in its history. The club's kit colours were claret and blue until 1973, when they changed to the red and blue vertical stripes worn today. Palace have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with Brighton & Hove Albion that emerged in the 1970s, as well as sharing strong rivalries with local clubs Millwall and Charlton Athletic. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 03:25 UTC on Sunday, 18 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Crystal Palace F.C. on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Niamh.
