“Mayordomo fiel, justo y sabio”Para los miembros de la Iglesia en la década de 1830, congregar a los santos y edificar la ciudad de Sion eran labores tanto espirituales como temporales, con muchos asuntos prácticos que atender: se requería que alguien comprara tierras donde los santos pudieran establecerse; era necesario que alguien imprimiera libros y otras publicaciones; y se necesitaba que alguien administrara una tienda a fin de proveer bienes para las personas de Sion. En las revelaciones registradas en Doctrina y Convenios 51– 57, el Señor designó e instruyó a algunas personas para que se encargaran de esas tareas.Si bien las habilidades en tales cosas son necesarias en Sion, esas revelaciones también enseñan que el Señor desea que Sus santos lleguen a ser espiritualmente dignos de ser llamados el pueblo de Sion: Su pueblo. Nos llama a todos a ser un “mayordomo fiel, justo y sabio”, teniendo un corazón contrito, “permanec[iendo] firme[s]” en nuestras responsabilidades señaladas (véanse Doctrina y Convenios 51:19; 52:15; 54:2). Si podemos hacerlo, sin importar cuáles sean nuestras habilidades temporales, el Señor puede valerse de nosotros para edificar Sion.

Seguramente su existencia habría ayudado a revelar la gloria de Dios al universo. En lugar de eso, comenzó a anhelar la gloria para sí, no para su Creador; o, para ser más precisos, empezó a imaginar que no se le estaba dando la consideración que merecía. Lee Ezequiel 28:11 al 17 e Isaías 14:12 al 14. ¿Qué provocó la caída de Lucifer? Compara estos pasajes con Apocalipsis 14:1 al 12. ¿Cómo influye el contraste entre la caída de Lucifer y la elevada posición de la humanidad en Cristo en tu comprensión de lo que ocurre en Apocalipsis 14? Observa cómo Lucifer fue expulsado del Monte Santo mientras que los redimidos están en el monte Sion con el Cordero de Dios. Se dice que Lucifer estuvo en el Edén; la humanidad también estuvo allí una vez, pero en contraste con el destino de Satanás, ella está siendo restaurada por medio de Cristo para volver al paraíso (ver Apoc. 22:1-3). En este contexto, la siguiente cita de Elena de White es muy instructiva: “Las vacantes que se produjeron en el cielo por la caída de Satanás y sus ángeles serán llenadas por los redimidos del Señor” (La verdad acerca de los ángeles [ACES, 2015], p. 53]. Los redimidos estarán en el Cielo solamente gracias al evangelio. De hecho, el tema de la Redención se encuentra representado de una manera gráfica en la sala del Trono descrita en Apocalipsis 4 y 5. Por ejemplo, los ángeles exclaman: “ ‘Digno eres de tomar el libro y de abrir sus sellos; porque tú fuiste inmolado, y con tu sangre nos has redimido para Dios, de todo linaje y lengua y pueblo y nación' ” (Apoc. 5:9, RVR 1960). ¡Qué imagen del evangelio! La muerte de Jesús hizo posible la redención de la humanidad. Observa también cómo refleja el lenguaje allí usado el mensaje del primer ángel, en el que se nos llama a predicar “el evangelio eterno [...] a los que habitan en la tierra, a toda nación y tribu, lengua y pueblo” (Apoc. 14:6). Qué poderosa representación de lo que Cristo ha hecho por el mundo. No hay un solo ser humano en la historia de la Tierra por quien Cristo no haya muerto. Los seres humanos solo necesitan conocerlo y aceptarlo. ¿Cuál es nuestro papel como iglesia y como individuos en la tarea de dar a conocer a las personas lo que Cristo ha hecho por ellas?

Tiene a sus miles que no se han arrodillado delante de Baal. Los tales estarán con él sobre el monte de Sion. Pero deben estar en esta tierra ceñidos con toda la armadura, listos para emprender la obra de salvar a aquellos que están a punto de perecer. Ángeles celestiales dirigen esta búsqueda, y a todos los que creen la verdad presente se les pide que sean activos espiritualmente para que puedan unirse con los ángeles en su obra. Para seguir a Cristo no necesitamos esperar hasta que seamos trasladados. El pueblo de Dios puede hacer eso en esta tierra. Solo podremos seguir al Cordero de Dios en los atrios celestiales, si lo seguimos aquí. Que lo sigamos en el cielo depende de que guardemos ahora sus mandamientos. No debemos seguir a Cristo esporádica o caprichosa-mente, solo cuando nos conviene. Nuestra elección debe ser la de seguir a Cristo. Debemos seguir su ejemplo en la vida diaria, así como un rebaño confiadamente sigue a su pastor. Debemos seguirlo sufriendo por su causa y diciendo a cada paso: "Aunque él me matare, en él esperaré". La forma en que él vivió debe ser el modelo de nuestra vida. Cuando coloca su pie derecho en el mar y su pie izquierdo sobre la tierra seca, muestra la parte que desempeña en las escenas finales del gran conflicto con Satanás. Esta posición denota su supremo poder y autoridad sobre toda la tierra. El conflicto se ha intensificado y agudizado de una época a otra, y seguirá intensificándose hasta las escenas finales, cuando la obra magistral de los poderes de las tinieblas llegará al máximo. Satanás junto con los hombres impíos, engañará a todo el mundo y a las iglesias que no reciban el amor de la verdad. Pero el ángel poderoso exige atención. Clama en alta voz. Debe mostrar el poder y la autoridad de su voz a aquellos que se han unido con Satanás para oponerse a la verdad... La posición del ángel —un pie sobre el mar y el otro sobre la tierra significa la extensión de la proclamación del mensaje. Para los primeros santos, la Iglesia era más que un lugar donde escuchar sermones los domingos. En las revelaciones, se utilizaban palabras como causa, reino, Sion y, muy a menudo, obra. Eso pudo haber sido en parte lo que atrajo a la gente a la Iglesia restaurada. Por mucho que amaran la doctrina, muchos también deseaban algo a lo que pudieran dedicar su vida. Aun así, no fue fácil obedecer el mandato del Señor de 1830 de congregarse en Ohio. The Shulhan Aruch (687:1) records the Halacha that the Megila is read twice on Purim-once at night and once during the day. The Poskim discuss a case in which a person can only hear the Megila at only one of those times. Is it preferable for him to hear it in the night or during the day? Hacham Ben Sion (Or L'Sion Vol. 4, p.319) suggests that this dilemma is a function of the Machloket between the Shulhan Aruch and the Rama regarding reciting the Beracha of Shehechiyanu on the daytime Megila reading. The Rama holds that even if one heard the Megila the previous night and recited Shehechiyanu, nevertheless, he recites the Beracha again before the morning reading. This ruling is based on the opinion of the Tosafot and the Rosh who hold that the primary Pirsum HaNes-publicizing of the miracle- is via the daytime reading. Therefore, Shehechiyanu is recited again during the day. Accordingly, if one can only hear the Megila once, it is preferable to wait until the daytime reading, which is the primary obligation. On the other hand, the Shulhan Aruch rules that one does not recite Shehechiyanu prior to the daytime reading. Apparently, he holds that the daytime reading is equal in stature to the nighttime reading. Accordingly, one who can only hear the Megila once, should take advantage of the first opportunity to perform the misva, and hear it at night. This is the conclusion of Hacham Ben Sion, who cites the Aruch Ha'shulhan (Rav Yechiel Michel Epstein of Nevarduk, 1829-1908) who rules this way, as well. The Shulhan Aruch also records the Halacha that one may interrupt Torah study in order to hear the Megila reading. This ruling is somewhat puzzling. Why is hearing the Megila considered an interruption of Torah study? Wouldn't The Megila, one of the books of Tanach, also constitute Torah study? The Aruch Ha'shulhan answers that, in fact, the Megila is also Torah study. However, the Halacha is referring to a case in which a person is learning Torah in his home; in order to hear the Megila, he must make his way to a different location in order to hear the Megila with a Minyan. The traveling time, to and from the synagogue, is the interruption of study referred to as warranted in order to hear the Megila. Hacham Ben Sion clarifies this Halacha and rules that Bitul Torah-interrupting Torah study- for Megila is warranted only when a person wants to join a larger gathering. The benefit of "B'Rov Am Hadrat Melech"- the praise of Hashem amplified in large gatherings- overrides the importance of Torah study. For example, if a Rabbi wants to give a class to a group before reading the Megila, and they do not intend to join a different, larger gathering, they may continue the shiur, since interrupting the study would not lead to a larger gathering. Because of this principle of "B'Rov Am Hadrat Melech," the Sha'arei Sion (687:10), citing the Haye Adam, rules that even if a person has a minyan in his house all year long, he should disband his private Minyan and join the larger congregation for Megila reading. It is ironic that, unfortunately, nowadays, even people who pray in a large shul all year long, form their own Minyan for Megila on Purim. One should make an effort to join a major gathering for Megila reading, unless there are extenuating circumstances. SUMMARY 1. If one can only hear the Megila read once, it is preferable to hear the night-time reading. 2. It is permitted to interrupt Torah study to hear the Megila only if the interruption will enable the person to hear the Megila read in a larger, public gathering. 3. One should not form private Minyanim for Megila reading.
