In today's episode, we conduct our 9th Q&A session! We will be answering 5 main questions, but there are a total of 11 questions that we will be tackling in total. Our questions are very challenging today, ranging from demon possession, to playing checkers and dominoes, to a couple of questions about Cain, to drinking in moderation. We also take on several heartfelt questions from one listener who has some very legitimate concerns. We feel this is one of our best Q&A's yet!
November 6, 1980. Baltimore, Maryland. Nancy Snow, a 44-year old congressional fundraiser with the Republican National Committee, is picked up from a hotel by Paul Collins, the house-sitter at her apartment in Annapolis. Nancy soon vanishes without a trace, but Collins claims that she left on an impromptu trip to Florida with a man named “Captain Jay”, so she could spend several weeks crewing his yacht during a sailing trip through the Caribbean. However, Nancy's family has a hard time believing this, particularly after discovering that Collins used her chequebook after she disappeared, but there is no conclusive evidence to prove he was responsible for her disappearance. Did Nancy Snow come to harm after leaving on a trip with the mysterious Captain Jay? Or did Paul Snow completely fabricate this entire story? On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore a frustrating missing persons case which has remained unsolved for over four decades. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office at (410) 222-1740. St. Paul is going through and replowing residential streets today after the massive snowstorm snarled things up several weeks ago. Sean Kershaw from the City Public Works department joined Jason to talk about how they evaluate the success of the job they do.
In today's episode, we interview a very good friend of ours, Bro. Paul Snow. Bro. Paul shares with us a little of his background, his family, and the church that he pastors. Most importantly, Bro. Paul talks about something that we feel is very needful for all believers to hear. He gives us some very encouraging, yet challenging words that he felt on his heart. Bro. Paul encourages us all to stand for the Lord, for the Lord is standing for us. He brings several scriptures into our discussion, and we are certain that you don't want to miss this episode!
Herman Perry and Paul Snow are making preparations for a canoe trip that will take them - and two other paddlers - from the North West Territories to Alaska. This is the fifth and last leg of a paddling odyssey that will have traced the old waterways from the Labrador Sea on the Atlantic to the Bearing Sea on the Pacific.

Finishing fourth at an Olympic Games is one of the hardest things for any athlete to go through and, unfortunately, it's what happened to Paul Snow-Hansen and Dan Willcox at the recent Tokyo Olympics. What made it even more emotional was the fact the medal race was probably the last time the pair will sail a 470 competitively together with the class going to a mixed format for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Paul and Dan are presently in MIQ in Christchurch but Broad Reach Radio caught up with them just before they left Enoshima, the sailing venue for the Games. They reflected on that Olympic campaign as well as the nine years they had been sailing together. But their association goes back way further than that, to the time they competed against each other as young Opti sailors and went to junior world championships as teammates. Paul and Dan have some good stories to tell, like the time they scrambled to get out of Spain as Covid-19 took a hold on the world and how their Rio Olympics was scuppered by illness but they also give a good insight into what it's like being an Olympic sailor and the impact it has on loved ones. And, of course, they tell the stories of their worst wipeouts ever.
CEO of Factom, Paul Snow, gives me the 101 on Factom. We also discuss blockchain use cases (especially having autonomy over your digital ID and data), tokenization, and the overall importance of bitcoin and crypto. This is how we become sovereign individuals. Paul Snow is someone that I have known since I was about 12 years old. He seemed a wise sage at that point. Now, 30 plus years later, he seems to be a wiser sage with more life experience, positive and difficult. I recall sitting in a sort of workshop with him teaching a bunch of 14 to 18 year-old youth and learning the concept of “paradigm” and seeing things through another’s eyes and experience. Although I didn’t really recognize it at the time, that has been a very powerful lesson in my life. From that, and other similar experiences, I desire to understand the lives and experiences and wisdom of people from many more walks of life than I ever thought I would. In a marriage and family course that he and his wife taught, my wife and I learned many helpful things. Among those is that an airplane is off course more than 90% of the time. It is the constant and small adjustments that get the passengers where they want to go. In life, marriage, parenting, etc, we are off course more than 90% of the time. Even here, it is the constant and small adjustments that must be made to make sure that we get to where we hope to be. If those constant and small adjustments are not made, eventually a major adjustment will need to be made that can cause all sorts of issues. But that major course adjustment is better than hitting the proverbial mountain head on. In this conversation we will range over his life and experiences in faith, profession, family, philosophy, loss of trust, and the love of a good spouse.
The world has some *serious* trust issues. We don't trust governments. We don't trust corporations. We don't trust people who think or look differently than us. If we're being honest, most of us don't even trust ourselves! This seems to go to the heart of many of our struggles as a growing, ever more complex civilization. If we wanna keep going and growing we have got to learn how to trust each other. The almighty question is HOW? Today we're talking with Paul Snow, the inventor of a blockchain platform designed specifically for data integrity. Can blockchain help us learn to trust each other? Let's see what insights Paul has to share on the matter.*Acknowledgements* I want to thank Paul Snow for joining us, Adam Koltun for editing the audio on this episode, and a huge thanks to Sphereon for sponsoring WhatTheFork?!

Paul Snow, CEO, and Co-Founder of Factom sat down with us at the Bitcoin, Ethereum & Blockchain Superconference 2018 to offer his insight on what the blockchain is capable of today and what it may be able to do down the line. Factom, is a blockchain technology company focused on data management and security. The key is that the protocol is built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain, meaning it is decentralized and not run by any one person. This makes it impermeable to being shut down or hacked. Factom's focus is on developing software making it impossible to change the past, making it very beneficial for individuals and businesses who seek a way to make data verifiable and unchangeable. “We see a future world where fraud, corruption, and forgery are a thing of the past. We believe in keeping private data private and securing the world's wealth because privacy and possession of property are basic human rights … Factom
On tonight's episode of "The Crypto Show," Jay Smith, Chief Marketing Officer at Factom, and Brian Dearie, Chief Scientist at Factom, come on to discuss the latest goings-on at Factom. Jay Smith relates his experience as one of the respondents during a Factom AMA. The two also give us a taste for Paul Snow's recent and second appearance before Congress, although the details remain to be conveyed by Paul Snow himself upon his next appearance on the show. In the second hour, Brian discusses Bitcoin forks, Bitcoin scalability, Blockstream, and the nature and future of Bitcoin.
The fourth annual Texas Bitcoin Conference is just around the corner, slated for October 28-29 in Austin, Texas. “I think this is a period of great innovation, and people are looking to see how to use the blockchain to solve real problems…and how to take part in such a way that…when cryptocurrency explodes, they've got a roll, they've got a piece of it. So a lot of this conference is going to be focused on that, and on the technology, the opportunities, and how to use cryptocurrencies as a store of value,” says Snow. But he was sure to add that the topics won't shy away from current controversies, but will address them head on: what does Bitcoin Cash mean for Bitcoin, what does SegWit 2x mean, and what is the roadmap going forward? * Tune in to hear Snow discuss more, including the following: * Some of the speakers and sponsors that will be attending * Insights and accomplishments that have come out of conferences from previous years * The different types of workshops that will be available, and the “20-20-20” format of the conference * How to find out more details (and where to get discount codes!)
With so many other tokens in the cryptocurrency space, why is there such a buzz surrounding the recent Bitcoin Cash hard fork? A high-energy climate seemed to immediately surround it, but why? David Johnston from Factom believes it has to do with the existence of three distinct communities: “First, there are those that absolutely are ardently opposed to SegWit. For whatever reason, they believe it's different from the original vision of Bitcoin….and then you've got a community that's very dedicated to avoiding hard forks and taking what they see as risky behavior, and I would say that's the Bitcoin Core folks. But there's another community that people don't talk about, and I believe when Eric Voorhees says this is the silent majority.” Johnston argues that this silent majority favorably views both SegWit and bigger blocks, making them less “emotionally or ideologically consumed with one particular solution being the be-all and end-all.” However, not everyone agrees. Johnston is joined by fellow Factom associates Brian Deery and Paul Snow for a lively and in-depth discussion on this topic and many more. Deery, Johnston and Snow also discuss: The effect of the split between Ethereum and Ethereum Classic, and what it might indicate about the split between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash The prospect of North Korea or Russia mining Bitcoin for hard cash, and the problems that could ensue The distinction and significance of two fundamentally different definitions of Bitcoin Speculation on how Bitcoin's hash rate will be allocated (if 95% of the hash power doesn't go with Bitcoin Core, will mining power be lost?)
Paul Snow on The Texas Bitcoin Conference & Bitcoin Cash by The Crypto Show
As you may already know, Bitcoin requires an ever increasing amount of proof of work, as more and more computers are working on the problem of securing the BitCoin BlockChain. Extremely-difficult-to-compute hashes take up a huge amount of computing power in the BitCoin ledger, making them some of the most secure data structures in the world. “And yet,” says Paul Snow of FactomTM, “despite the massive amount of security that the coin has, the ledger itself is only one megabyte every ten minutes.” To secure data, FactomTM was started up in Austin TX. They've been live with the FactomTM protocol since September 2015. Paul Snow explains how it works. “The idea of FactomTM is to provide a general purpose data-layer secured by the Bitcoin BlockChain… Basically, the data-layer exists to prove the data integrity of information that's being exchanged via various applications.” People who run the protocol are rewarded every month with FactomTM tokens. This incentive keeps the program running. The tokens also function as an anti-spam mechanism, “to prevent people from just throwing trash into the data-layer.” To hear more about how FactomTM is operating in the BitCoin space, hit play. And be sure to subscribe, review, and donate BitCoins if you're able. Every little bit helps as we endeavor to produce and share quality content.
Factom™, based in Austin, Texas, is a distributed, decentralized protocol layer running on top of Bitcoin that allows data of any kind to be memorialized, anchored, time-stamped, and cryptographically secured using Bitcoin's blockchain and tremendous network hashrate. In addition to these benefits, Factom allows the storage of data extremely efficiently, due to its use of Merkle Trees. Brian Deery, Factom's Chief Scientist, discusses the motivation and mission of Factom, according to Brian, Paul Snow, and others involved in the company. Brian's wealth of knowledge about blockchain technology and the Bitcoin Blockchain can be overwhelming, even to experienced listeners, but this interview is well worth listening to, if you want to further your knowledge in this industry.
We spend the whole show with Paul and Brian on the latest with Factom. Paul also talks about some technology he was involved in with the other DHS (Department of Human Services). LE19: Paul Snow - Proving Digital Identities Paul Snow, CEO and Chief Architect of FACTOM, joins us to chat about how to store digital documents which are verifiable and trustworthy. It uses the bitcoin blockchain to secure and protect the files while having an unalterable date of when it was inserted. How does FACTOM add functionality to the bitcoin blockchain? How can it be used to prove digital identities? Paul also talks about the problem with signatures and our current ways to authenticate. Says "digital identities and digital authentication hold the promise of much greater security." What were the roots of FACTOM? Paul actually wanted to create a database to manage hardware and software, but he found this to be too difficult. Instead, he migrated the code to digital identities via FACTOM for the blockchain. We end with asking Paul how he, as a mature programmer, felt when experiencing and figuring out Bitcoin back in the day. **Please rate us** iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/liberty-entrepreneurs/id1057809945?mt=2 Contact Information Email: paul@factom.org Reddit: paulsnow Bitcointalk.org: alanx

In the first half of today’s show I am thrilled to be speaking with Paul Snow, the Chairman of the Texas Bitcoin conference which is coming up in less than one week, March 27th through 29th. Of course there is still time to register for the conference by going to TexasBitcoinConference.com. Make sure to use the Bitcoins and Gravy discount code which is easy to remember because it is: BitcoinsAndGravy, not to be confused with Biscuits and gravy, wink, wink. And in the 2nd half of today’s show my conversation with Paul Snow continues as we discuss Factom - a distributed record-keeping network for securing millions of realtime records in the blockchain with a single hash. Epicenter - Learn about Blockchain, Ethereum, Bitcoin and Distributed Technologies
Today’s episode is all about Factom, an open source project which aims to solve three core problems which apply to all Bitcoin 2.0 applications: Speed, Cost, and Bloat. Rather than writing every transaction to the blockchain, Factom allows decentralized applications to write blocks of transactions to Factom blocks, which themselves get hashed and stored to the bitcoin blockchain. At its core, Factom provides Proof of Existance, which allows for any digital artifact to be reduced to a hash that proves that artifact’s existance at a specific point in time. We are joined by Factom CEO, Paul Snow, and President, Peter Kirby, to explore the different applications of Factom as well as the technical workings of this very interesting and promissing project.
