Season 5, EPISODE 240 Farmatan Used To Manage Bloat Cattle producers have experienced reductions in bloats and death loss using Farmatan liquid and powder. A peer reviewed study found 81% fewer days of bloat and 17% ADG of heifers grazing winter wheat. Jeff Bezos Invests Millions to Cut Methane Emissions from Livestock Billionaire Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and one of the world's wealthiest individuals with a net worth exceeding $190 billion, is turning his attention to livestock production. Through the Bezos Earth Fund, a $10 billion climate-focused initiative he launched in 2020, Bezos is investing in projects designed to reduce methane emissions from cattle. Bezos Earth Fund Targets Methane Emissions in Cattle Ranching, farming, and the Western lifestyle are at the heart of everything we do. Tigger & BEC bring you exclusive insights from the world of working ranches, cattle farming, and sustainable beef production. Methane is over 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide over a 20-year period, according to climate scientists. To address this, Bezos and the Global Methane Hub have jointly launched a $27.4 million initiative aimed at breeding low-methane-emitting cattle and developing technologies to curb livestock emissions globally. This groundbreaking initiative includes: $8.7 million for low-emission dairy breeding in Holstein, Jersey, Brown Swiss, and Red breeds, led by Wageningen University in the Netherlands. $4.85 million to the Angus Foundation (Saint Joseph, MO) to integrate low-methane traits into beef cattle breeding programs across North America, Oceania, and Europe. $3.35 million to support methane-efficient breeding in Indigenous African cattle populations. $2.34 million to the University of Nebraska to research methane reduction in commercial and crossbred beef cattle herds. $8.1 million toward research at universities in Uruguay and Australia and for rumen microbiome analysis. A Powerful Push to Transform Livestock Emissions Bezos is not working alone. The Global Methane Hub, launched in 2022 in support of the Global Methane Pledge from COP26, brings together powerful partners including the IKEA Foundation, Inter-American Development Bank, and major NGOs. With deep funding and global reach, the coalition is pushing for fast, scalable solutions in agriculture. On this episode of the podcast Wisconsin Congressman Glenn Grothman discussed the passage of President Trump's endorsed legislation a.k.a, “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill.” The Wisconsin Republican emphasized the bill's focus on middle and lower-class Americans, including no tax on tips or overtime for hourly workers. He highlighted the need for competitive business tax cuts to boost American manufacturing. Rep. Grothman noted potential Senate watering down of welfare provisions, such as Medicaid and Pell Grants. He praised the bill's deduction for seniors and young couples, but criticized the state and local tax deduction for encouraging higher state taxes. Furthermore, Grothman stressed the importance of securing the border, expelling illegal immigrants and preventing human trafficking, criticizing the Biden Administration's policies.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

To support muscle growth in menopause, you need to understand the critical role of liver health. If you're struggling with muscle loss and fat gain, your liver is an essential player in the game. Stick with me as we uncover actionable strategies for boosting liver health and achieving muscle growth in menopause and beyond during this moment in time post pandemic. My Guest: Sara Banta is a certified Dietary Supplement Professional, member of the National Association of Nutritional Professionals, and founder of Accelerated Health Products, recognized as the Most Innovative Supplement Company. Sara pioneers innovative solutions to support holistic well-being. She empowers others to achieve optimal health through supplements, DNA-based nutrition, and lifestyle changes. Questions We Answer in This Episode: [00:10:53] How is the liver related to muscle growth in menopause? [00:20:31] How can certain proteins help you reach fitness goals, while others may actually get in the way? [00:22:53] Why are essential amino acids crucial for supporting muscle building? [00:31:21] How can you take care of your liver to help with muscle gain and fat loss? [00:40:20] What are the side effects of GLP-1? [00:42:50] What are safe alternatives to ozempic? Liver Health's Role in Menopausal Muscle Growth Roles: detox, bile production, hormone regulation, protein metabolism. Chemicals and toxins overload the liver, impairing fat and protein processing. Protein Intake Challenges & Solutions Protein intake alone isn't enough without liver support. Women need more protein with age, not less - 1g protein per pound of body weight. Wild animal protein, like bison and venison, are most nutrient dense. Warning against mold and hidden toxins in common protein powders. Essential Amino Acid Supplements Key ingredients: HMB, Synactive, OKG, TMG - aimed at absorption and recovery Benefits: prevent muscle breakdown, enhance gut health, better protein absorption. Key Takeaways for Muscle Growth in Menopause: Liver function is foundational for hormone balance, energy, and muscle development during and after menopause. Most women are under-consuming quality protein and not absorbing it effectively due to liver or gut issues. Supplements can be powerful, but they must be clean, effective, and well-formulated—many aren't. Shift your mindset: It's not about shrinking your body but about strengthening it with muscle. Bloat, brain fog, fatigue, and poor recovery may all link back to impaired liver detox and insufficient amino acids. Whole, wild animal proteins are superior due to nutrient density and bioavailability. Connect with Sara: Get your Accelerated Health Products - Liver Care & Aminos here! Ever wondered why you can eat bread in Europe without the bloating, breakouts, or fatigue—but suffer in the U.S.? In this solo episode, Jen Smiley breaks down the real differences between American and European bread, from gluten content to glyphosate exposure. She explains why traditional fermentation, fewer additives, and better ingredients make all the difference—and shares her favorite clean bread brands and grain-free swaps you can find in the freezer aisle or order online. If you've been told to ditch bread altogether, don't worry—Jen has your back with clean swaps that support your digestion and energy, not work against them.Key Takeaways:American bread is highly processed and often contains additives, enzymes, and glyphosate.European breads use traditional fermentation and heirloom grains, making them easier to digest.Additives like dough conditioners and high-fructose corn syrup disrupt digestion.Refined flours = blood sugar spikes, cravings, and inflammation.Real bread goes in the freezer, not the shelf—watch out for shelf-stable traps.Look for clean ingredients like sprouted buckwheat, almond flour, flaxseed, and coconut flour.Disclaimer:The content provided by Wake Up and Read the Labels and Jen Smiley is for informational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. Akitas: Guardian Dogs of the Samurai [caption id="attachment_13805" align="alignleft" width="441"] Colleen Sullivan and one of her Sondaisa Akitas.[/caption] Colleen Sullivan joins host Laura Reeves for a Love the Breeds episodes on Akitas. The breed, one of six national monuments in Japan, was introduced to the US by Hellen Keller in 1937. Originally used as guard dogs and companions for the Samurai warriors, the breed is quiet, clean and very devoted to their owners. Sullivan notes that the breed is best for owners who are willing to be leaders in the relationship and that same sex aggression with other dogs and wariness with strangers is par for the course with the breed. Sullivan agreed with Laura's description of the breed as “people with fur” and treating them that way. “They think too much sometimes,” Sullivan said. “If you hesitate, if you're not a calm, confident person, yeah, you're suspicious (to the dog). You're not gonna walk up to some stranger or allow some stranger to give you a hug and a kiss. You know, you're just not. It's like dogs there's Golden Retrievers the extrovert and then there's Akita the introvert. "One of the things we all have in common that have owned an Akita is pride. They're such magnificent dogs, magnificent beings. They're like artwork but with power." Easy grooming, with the exception of “blowing coat,” and a cat-like insistence on cleanness make the breed easy to live with in Sullivan's experience. Training Akitas requires some creativity, Sullivan said, and an ability to make the dog think the work is their idea. Consistency is key to training. “You can't let your dog jump all over you one time and then get mad at it the next time,” Sullivan said. “You have to mean what you say.” Bloat can be an issue with the breed. Sullivan encourages owners to be educated about this disease. “I hesitate to make this statement, but one of the things that I do because the Akita is such a primitive breed, it's one of the oldest breeds, is I look at more the wolves and the coyotes and how they exercise and how they eat. All the exercise is done because they're chasing their prey. Then they're gorging themselves and they're getting all these bodily fluids and all of that, and then they rest. So all my (dogs') exercise is before eating, they get lots of fluid on their food when they're eating. And then rest.”

In the Building Better Developers podcast episode, hosts Rob Broadhead and Michael Meloche share valuable insights into effective product enhancement strategies. They explore how businesses can improve and expand their products and services without adding unnecessary complexity or sacrificing quality. If you're a business owner, product manager, or developer, this episode is packed with practical advice on how to grow your offerings sustainably in a customer-focused manner. Why Product Enhancement Strategies Matter Rob opens the discussion by pointing out that technology is often one of the biggest business expenses after staffing costs. Whether it's software, infrastructure, or digital services, improving your product shouldn't be about simply adding more—it should be about increasing value. When done right, product enhancements can: Improve customer satisfaction Strengthen brand loyalty Open new revenue streams Reduce friction in the customer experience Three Smart Ways to Enhance Your Product Rob and Michael break down three key ways to approach product enhancement: Add Meaningful Features or Integrations Focus on features your customers actually want. This could be reporting tools, new integrations, or quality-of-life improvements that solve real problems. Expand Service Offerings For service-based businesses, enhancement may involve broadening what you offer. For example, moving from just front-end development to full-stack services. Improve Quality and Performance Not all enhancements need to be visible. Sometimes, the best improvement is making your product faster, more reliable, and easier to use. Avoiding Common Product Enhancement Pitfalls The hosts emphasize that not all enhancements are good enhancements. Adding unnecessary features can bloat your product, confuse customers, and increase maintenance overhead. Michael introduces the concept of product quality of life—the long-term usability and effectiveness of your product. If you're not careful about how you enhance your products, they can become outdated or inefficient over time. They also warn against growing too fast. Adding too many features without the proper infrastructure can stretch your team thin and reduce overall product quality. How to Stay Customer-Centric A key theme of this episode is the importance of listening to your customers. Rob and Michael recommend: Conducting regular customer surveys or interviews Building relationships with power users Testing enhancements quickly and rolling back if they don't add value Your product enhancement strategies should always be driven by honest feedback, not assumptions. Your Next Step The episode wraps up with a challenge: What is your next product enhancement strategy? Before your next release or feature update, ask yourself: Does this enhancement provide real value to my customers? Do I have the resources to support it? Will it improve the overall customer experience? If you're unsure, start by gathering feedback. Your customers' input is the key to meaningful, sustainable product growth.

Will screenlife movies become the found footage of the next generation? Though there have been some noticeable outliers, the genre has not really taken off with audiences. But what if you do one that is also a creature feature plus has family drama. We also review an uncomfortable psychological thriller starring Geoffrey Rush and John Lithgow. This year Blake watched the Oscars while Nathaniel could care less about them. We talk about Demi Moore not winning for The Substance, Quentin Tarantino's amazing casting track record, and record long speeches. The Ready or Not sequel has added a notable name to its cast. Are we ready for it?There is something about screenlife movies that just does not work for us. Host was great and Dashcam was fun, but they usually end up being more frustrating than anything else. Bloat was no different as the filmmaking took us out of it on a number of levels. We could not even imagine why it was done in this style to being with.If the movie were shot in a more traditional style it probably would have been better, but that does not mean it would have been good. The writing is awful presenting the audience with characters that are shallow at best. There is no payoff for the monster and the ending is downright confusing. Maybe we should stick to found footage. The Rule of Jenny Pen was discomforting for different reasons. When you have Rush and Lithgow leading the way, you now acting is not going to be a problem. The atmosphere is a bleak one that only gets darker as the plot progresses. Before long, things have escalated to levels that are almost impossible to watch. But you do not want to look away. That is what makes it such a great film. It is touch to watch and filled with a sense of sadness and hopelessness. It also has two compelling leads and a riveting story. The Rule of Jenny Pen will is an unforgettable watch - for better and for worse. Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Lots of these vehicles bill themselves as “safe,” but safe for who? The drivers and passengers? Or everyone else?David Zipper, a senior fellow at the MIT Mobility Initiative and a contributing writer at Vox and Bloomberg CityLab, has coined the term “car bloat” to describe the ever-expanding size of the average automobile. He joins the show to talk about the enormous problems these cars are causing, how they got to be so huge, and whether the trend will continue. For transcripts of Front Burner, please visit: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/frontburner/transcripts

This week: The Spectator launches SPAFF The civil service does one thing right, writes The Spectator's data editor Michael Simmons: spaffing money away. The advent of Elon Musk's DOGE in the US has inspired The Spectator to launch our own war on wasteful spending – the Spectator Project Against Frivolous Funding, or SPAFF. Examples of waste range from the comic to the tragic. The Department for Work and Pensions, Michael writes, ‘bought one Universal Credit claimant a £1,500 e-bike after he persuaded his MP it would help him find self-employment'. There's money for a group trying to ‘decolonise' pole dancing; for a ‘socially engaged' practitioner to make a film about someone else getting an MBE; and for subscriptions to LinkedIn. Lord Agnew, who used to hold the ‘Pythonesque' title of ‘minister of state for efficiency and transformation', backs The Spectator's new SPAFF campaign and says total reform is the only option. Michael and Theo joined the podcast to discuss. (1:04) Next: is surrogacy a blessing or a sham? Debates about surrogacy have raged again following the announcement that the actress Lily Collins has had a baby via surrogate. Mary Wakefield says that there is a ‘sadness' behind surrogacy, and that babies could be affected by being separated from their birth mother. Surrogacy is illegal in many countries, such as Spain and Italy, and Mary worries about potential legal changes that would make it easier to pursue here in the UK. So, is surrogacy a lifeline for many couples looking to conceive, or is it a practice that we should be more concerned about? Mary joined the podcast to discuss alongside Sunshine Hanson. Sunshine is the president and co-founder of the US-based surrogacy agency Sunshine Is, and has also been a gestational surrogate three times. (16:26) And finally: is smoking sexy again? Flora Watkins revels at the news that Generation Z are shedding their vapes and taking up ‘real' smoking, saying that everyone looks ‘hotter with a fag in their mouth'. Disregarding familial disapproval, Flora says that smoking makes her feel cool, young and attractive. Does this mean that smoking is sexy again? And why is smoking proving more popular with younger generations? It appears that the proposed smoking ban, proposed by both the Conservatives and now Labour, is having the opposite effect. Flora joined the podcast - with a cigarette in hand - to discuss, alongside the writer Zak Asgard. (29:35) Presented by Lara Prendergast and William Moore. Produced by Patrick Gibbons.
